Super fun game. Really enjoyed it. Great settings and worlds. Mixes a bit of Ratchet, Jak, and Starfox. Would play a sequel.

Solid platformer 9/10. Not the biggest fan of the vehicle sequences due to how the controls feel on controller but am super excited to see what else is in store for Akimbot!

I really liked Akimbot. The base gameplay was fun; weaving together jumps, dashes, and aerial melee attacks to travel far felt very satisfying to do. The combat was good as well, I think. You don't really need to use more than one weapon for the most part, but rapidly swapping between them for maximum uptime turned out to be really fun. I liked the graphics, and the music was really good as well. I really liked the dynamic between Exe and Shipset. I know many people hate companions that talk all the time, but I have never really been bothered by that. I enjoyed every line of dialogue from the two. I only ever got tired of Shipset once and only once, and he talks A LOT. Also, Exe's cliché tough guy attitude, while cheesy, fits really well, I think. The levels overall were good. I liked the platforming, but the wall-running sections felt a little bit slow and also restrictive, with the way you sort of snap onto the walls, but it didn't really matter. I liked the hacking puzzles too. They were short, simple, and easy to understand after at least one try. The in-level puzzles, wherever they were, were good too. The game did a good job of using slightly different mechanics in the more unorthodox sections, which helped prevent it from feeling too gimmicky or repetitive. My main gripe with the game's gameplay is with the car sections. I quite enjoyed most vehicle and turret sections, but the car felt clunky to control. The car sections were mostly fine, but I did kind of come to not enjoy the final one, as the janky physics in tandem with an insta-death pit below you, and no checkpoints, made for a slightly frustrating experience. That was the only part of the game I didn't like gameplay-wise. As for the story, I liked it. It felt quite reminiscent of early console games to me, where story beats happen rapidly and without much explanation, and we all just go with it. I liked the cutscenes, especially
the scene where the Ambassador betrays you.
That scene was very good, and I somehow came to really like the section after that despite how out of left field it felt, even if it was pretty poorly optimized; my frame rates dipped immensely during it. My only major critique of the game is the ending.
It felt very, VERY anticlimactic with the way the cutscene following the final battle just shows the Ambassador and Evilware... die, with no dialogue, and then it cuts to Exe and Shipset safe on the beach. I would have loved it if there was a climactic scene where we get to see Exe finish off both bosses, for example, like how we saw the Ambassador "kill" Exe, and I feel like there should have been a cutscene to resolve the circumstances, since we were all kind of in a very perilous situation.
Regardless, it's but one big critique amid all my praise. I see people fighting over whether or not this game feels like a Ratchet & Clank game, and I honestly don't know what you would compare it to if NOT Ratchet & Clank. I was constantly comparing Akimbot to R&C during my playthrough, with the dialogue especially and how these two complete randos end up becoming the galaxy's saviors. It's not like Akimbot is like a Ratchet & Clank game; it's very distinct, but it's definitely fair to compare the two, I think. In the end, I think Akimbot was a great game, and I really enjoyed my time with it. I'm giving this game an 8.7/10; the clunky car sections and the ending pull the score down a bit, but for what the game sets out to do, it does it very well, I think.

A hidden gem, really. The story is simplistic, cliché and childish, plus the protagonist is unlikable but except these flaws, it's a very well crafted platformer (but not only) game. There is also some very spectacular space combat levels. If you like platformer games, especially games like Ratchet and Clank, you can purchase it closed eyes.

A somewhat short and sweet action game that was made to resemble the feel of older games and incorporates quite a lot of different genres and mechanics in setpieces. If you're a fan of Ratchet & Clank Gladiator (or Deadlocked if you're from america) I think you'll enjoy this quite a bit

Fun play! A little rough around the edges, could do with a bit more gameplay and enemy variety, but there's a clear passion put into the game. Has a lot of character, worth picking up!
