Easily Exploited - Thoroughly Broken
The very first time I played it, I was able to amass hundreds of millions of dollars without ever releasing a movie that turned a profit. In fact, after turning out over 60 movies made by whining employees that kept walking off the job or demanding double salary before shooting even a single scene, I was able to fire everyone, demolish all my sets and buildings, and just sit back, rolling in the new dough that came pouring in. I'm not sure whether Steam allows me to say how I did it, but the fact is, this game is NOT about running a movie studio and handling the financial side of things. It is much easier to do one other thing, not deal with any employees, buildings, scripts or anything and rake in more cash than I could ever spend in a lifetime.
I would demand a refund, but I played it longer than Steam allows for money back because I was shooting videos of it for my gaming channel. Turns out, none of those videos worked either.
I don't see it listed as an Early Access or anything. They seem to be saying with a straight face that this is a finished game. It is NOT. Again, it pretends to be a Movie Tycoon simulation and yet you can make tons more money not making any movies at all. I am highly disappointed in this purchase.
First of all, I spent well over an hour with the various tutorials. This alone assured I would never get my money back. Then, when I did play it, I could never make any films that were quality enough to make even one red cent.
It says it came out in June of 2024. So, if it is in this rough of shape months after release, I am left to wonder whether the Devs have any plans to fix all the bugs, glitches and easy exploits that ruin it for those of us who trusted them with our money.
I was told I could talk to one of the Devs online here in Steam. It did say he was online and in the chat, but he never answered my texts nor my voice chat attempts.
I played The Movies thousands of hours, literally. I don't know how much work it would be to fix all the things wrong with this game here, but if they don't, I will NEVER trust this developer again. On the other hand, if they apologize, offer us our money back, and they fix it so we have the choice of money back or the game when it is fixed, then I will respect them and perhaps buy new offerings from them in the future.
As I write this, I have 10.9 hours on record playing this. I CANNOT get a refund from Steam. I did attempt to play the game as outlined in the tutorial. But there are many, many problems. For instance, an actor isn't happy with their pay. They come demanding more. There is a NEGOTIATE button right in their dialogue. But, when I click on it, I cannot even talk to them about it. The place to make an offer is grayed out even in the 1920's when I have tens of millions of dollars on hand and would be delighted to double, even triple their salary just to get them back to work.
Often people will up and quit and you can't hire replacements because none are available because the Devs haven't made anyone else available at that point. This is especially bad when the ones who quit are cooks or food servers because it is a domino effect. The food services are shut down. You can't hire anyone to replace them. Then it doesn't matter how much you overpay the other staff. They can't have lunch and so they get mad at you and quit. You have to sit around and wait until the whatever point the Dev Team has predetermined that kind of worker will be available for hire again. Anyone who stays around is being paid to do nothing. They are draining your pockets. So, you have to find a way to stay afloat until the time or event passes to allow that type of hiring again. You sit there doing nothing, losing money, or you find the very easy exploits that grant you mountains of cash without employees at all, without sets, toilets, Producers, Directors, Scriptwriters, etc. and you start to wonder why you hired anyone in the first place. You could, in this game, make much more money, so much faster, never making a single motion picture.
I wish my gameplay videos had worked, but there is a resolution problem with the game that kept it from being recorded properly in either of the two methods I tried, ways that work on all the other games I have. If they had worked, I would post them to my gaming channel so people could see. Maybe the Dev Team would drop by.
If I can make hundreds of millions of dollars the very first time I run the game, not making any movies nor even hiring anyone, without looking for any cheats or exploits online, then the game truly is broken.
It just....doesn't work.
This should never have been released to the public for sale in this shape. It is too broken even for Early Access, beta or any other sort of public consideration. It isn't finished.
It was so annoying to have popups every few seconds demanding raises. And there was a limit of 80 employees at one point, but I wasn't told that so I couldn't plan for it.
You have to pay for the best actors to live in nice places, but they sometimes leave your studio because they get kicked out of those places and complain to you that you didn't pay their rent, even though you are paying them astronomical amounts and the rent comes out of your pocket. This happened several times when I was sitting on upwards of twenty million dollars. It stretches my imagination not in a good way to think I withheld rent from my best employees while holding millions in cash.
It's a movie tycoon type game, but it is an economic simulator as well and the entire economy is broken.
Some of the English is improper and others of it is simply wrong, in other words stating things are true that do not actually happen in the game, or the very opposite happens.
I could go on and on, but I think I have made my case. Until they fix it, if ever, this game is not playable according to the tutorial.

Build mode was not engaging, smooth or even fun. Game does not truly simulate process for those interested. Character designs are unattractive and not very modifiable. I love The Sims. This ain't The Sims. By far.

this game is good, but the crew people etc. kept it's leading name there are pictures of people to make it easier without double the names of other people or crew, overall this game is good, suggestions for there to be automatic without manual clicking both sandbox and whatnot.

This game has potential. I LOVE games where you create your own movies. There is not a lot of them though. Maybe when this game gets more updates, they will fix movement. I would recommend this game.
