If it was possible I would give this a mixed review. Like it's pre 2K predecessor, it has so much potential, but it only partially delivers on it. Pros - The players, player maker, outfits, venues are done very well. The game itself plays very well, like many 2K products it is solid. The progression methods that I've seen so far are good. It's a fun game to play, and just like real tennis, sometimes it's appropriately frustrating. Career mode has lots of venues and is very similar to previous TopSpin products. Difficulty modes are appropriate and you switch between them at any time to adapt play. Cons - Player progression in Career Mode is...odd. For example, after a season and a half (on hard mode) the least AI level that my player will face at Lvl 7 is roughly level 17 in the bronze qualies and 21 in the silver qualies. It's like they missed an entire bracket of competition for the beginning Career Player. This problem can be adjusted through the difficulty mode (for example, if I play an exhibition tournament with players on lvl 30, I'm competitive), but do I really want to do that, then ratchet up the difficulty later? So if I don't want to change the difficulty setting (which is appropriate), I'm looking at probably 4 seasons before I'm capable of being competitive in a qualifier and "really" start my player progression. The shot bar is excessively difficult to anticipate, for example, I would expect it to be difficult to time a hard shot that puts me in a defensive position, but I would expect that a poor shot coming from my opponent (especially short) would be an easier put away winner. Mostly this isn't the case, and it seems inconsistent. Graphically, (and this may be due to my equipment set up) sometimes the ball is difficult to see against a background that is similar to the color of the ball. The game adjusts for this by showing the point at which the ball will land, but against some backgrounds a hard shot simply disappears. The whole season pass thing is both expensive and confusing. I'm not a fan. I might feel differently if the game was more "complete" in career mode. All in all: I have a mixed opinion, but there is no other tennis sim out there that matches up. The game has so much promise, but it's like they made only 75% of it. I will say that I hope they continue to develop TopSpin, adding players and an extra amateur division.

Gameplay is great. Content is lacking. Hoping for more features in the next installment.

I was excited to play this game but just couldn't get past how difficult it is to hit the shots required to even get past the tutorials. This game is really difficult and not the kind of difficult that I enjoy. Refunded it.

There may be a fun game in there somewhere but the shot timing feels so arbitrary and random even a few hours in. If you do anything but a precision flat shot you're likely to hit the ball out of bounds if you don't hit the timing perfect, but your opponent will almost always return that precision flat shot even if you do manage to get the timing perfect, so you spend a lot of time just doing basic shots until you decide to mix it up just to hit the ball out of bounds. If you want to do the MyCareer mode, your new level 1 character immediately faces level 15 opponents who feel impossible to beat unless you can force 3-4 errors on their side in a row by getting several perfect power shots, something that feels impossible with the base reflex and power stats. This game may eventually get fun once you practice for a few days but every aspect of the game starts out so frustrating that it's hard to care long enough to get there.

it was a nice surprise, as a youtuber that reviewed it said "turn the timing marker off" it really makes a difference and you start learning the timer naturally, I found it too distracting. Also note that the timing is when you release the button not when you press it, the game doesnt explain that very well

Still does not feel realistic. Control is a bit too difficult, if taking more time, I might feel used to it but I still feel it is not a fun tennis game.

This game is hard, if you're looking for an arcade-like tennis game this ain't it. However, the depth of the mechanics are so fun once you put some time in to practice. The little dopamine hits as I change the game's difficult from Easy > Normal > Hard. The two issues with this game is how poorly supported it is by 2K and that you replay the same NPCs all the time in lower tournaments. It's really sad that the game doesn't include a majority of pro tennis players. Instead you have to grind your way to playing against them in Grand Slam matches. But hey, at least VC isn't as much of a grind like it is in NBA2k.

I am actually looking for an average review button. Because I enjoyed the gameplay but there's no Offline tournament mode in this game. Whatever, 7/10 from me

I like the game a lot, but it does take more skill than other games you might have played. I think with the skill needed and my love of tennis is what makes this game awesome, but it depends if you do or don't like a game to be challenging that will make or break this game for you.

The game is pretty good but theres sum faults, like movement can be buggy, and the ball be randomly floating when serving, other than the mid graphics its not that bad and pretty fun tbh.
