I still do not recommend this game to everyone, but there is a chance you can win, you just need to die a thousand times over, as long as you can handle the excruciating pain of it.

Vibes are immaculate. I spent my first 5 minutes just jaw dropped in the main menu.
Definitely a step up from Devil Daggers - lots of fun tech to mess around with. But man am I trash.

By an extreme margin one of the coolest looking games ever created. And I desperately want to enjoy it; But no Controller Support whatsoever for someone like myself who is half-blind and has Rheumatoid arthritis in my early 30's sadly makes this borderline impossible to play. Still recommend in spite of this. Just wish it had more basic QOL stuff is all.

Hyper Demon is a unique and inventive experience. Here's my full thoughts:
TLDR:
There's a lot about this game that I adore: particularly its creativity and novelty in the realm of first-person shooters. The visuals are outstanding and frequently very trippy, The scoring system is clever, the crystalline style of everything is nice, and particularly the "360 FOV" is an experience unlike anything else. It's a LOT to take in, but definitely worth the time to check it out, as it won't be like anything else you've played before. There are also a handful of problems that make this game feel a little early-access, and wouldn't mind fixing to make it a 100% experience.
Good Stuff: ------------------
Visuals: Feels like you're playing some kind of fever-dream inspired art film turned video game. Get ready for fractals, mind and space-bending view distortion, and lots of things happening all the time. Also, the gold/red/violet color scheme and glassy style of everything is very pleasing.
360 FOV: Honestly why I got this game- pushes how much you can see and perceive to the limit. As a huge fan of ULTRAKILL (where most of the fight occurs in your peripheral vision, and things happen at mach 2), this is even step up with a 180 degree FOV and holograms of things behind you, so you truly have to watch everything. It's almost too much to manage, but you can almost get in a flow state where your brain reacts to things around/behind you before you even have a chance to process it. Definitely scientific-paper level of research worthy.
Scoring: Much like ULTRAKILL as well, the game forces you to keep entering combat to keep playing. The timer keeps running down and you can only increase it by getting kills, meaning the only way to get a better score is to keep killing things as fast as possible. It's a very simple concept but frequently very hard to estimate how you're doing.
Music/Sound: Pretty good, I have decent headphones but feel like the spacial audio could be tweaked more to help with knowing where things are at all times. Music is strange but kind of awesome.
Story/Meaning: I have no idea what the flying f*ck is going on. But it's cool.
What isn't so great: --------------
Menu/Learning Curve: This game throws you into the deep end, with very little explanation on how to do things, and while they have some training modules, there aren't any variations of easier modes or anything, you just have to learn by being really bad and very confused for your first handful of hours of gameplay. I'll also say the menu design is simple, sure, but pretty poor and feels unintuitive at times.
Movement (!!!): My MAJOR gripe with this game is movement. What's cool about this game is it uses 7 keys total: WASD, Space, and L,R Mouse buttons. Unfortunately, it means you frequently do stuff you aren't trying to do: e.g. dashing while in the air is [Space] but doing a stomp while in the air is also [Space] if you're looking in a sort of downwards direction. Dashing/Sliding is all still just [Space] along with jumping, so there's a lot of times I'll be trying to do one thing and end up doing another, which I really don't like. You just feel like you don't have control over your character that much. Dodging enemies is (you guessed it) also space, and the way that enemies have to be exactly lined up and the timing so precisely on-point for you to dodge means 90% of the time you're dodging, you're doing it accidentally to something nearby by pressing space.
The Floor: I can't see the floor. It's very hard to tell where the floor is, because it's so dark, which makes doing things like bunny-hopping, sliding, or dashing on the ground very difficult, which is essential for movement. It's also hard to tell where the boundaries of the playing field are as a result, and where you are generally in regards to everything else.
Because of the rather messy, hard-to-control movement and difficulty knowing where the ground is, the most common cause of death is moving somewhere you weren't trying to, or missing a slam or dash or the ground, which is very frustrating. I think if the devs managed to make this movement more customizable, or bind all different actions to as many keys as you'd like, it would be much easier to control what you're doing.
----------------
All that being said, try this game out, maybe drop some acid first and melt all of your neurons, could be the move for sure. Also if anyone tells you they know what this game is about, they're lying.
Most importantly, H A V E F U N !

don't play the game blind, figure out how it works first, otherwise it's going to be kind of unfun at certain points

This is a game that seems to be taken straight out of a demo from the demoscene.
I somehow wonder if this could be made for Amiga, although deep down I know probably couldn't.
Mouse and keyboard, don't you even try playing this with a controller.
The chaos and psychedelic experience of a shooter that this is, you can have fun simply not knowing what you are doing, nor why, most of the time.
If you indeed want to know what you are doing, the purpose of the game is getting to a very high score that scales up considerably as you understand the mysterious score system. The explanation for the game's mysterious score system is cleverly hidden under the name "score" in the tutorial "Training". Clearly, this developer is evil and doesn't want you to progress.
Anyway, take it seriously or not, I think this game is fun either way so I recommend it.

Incredible angel combat simulator.
Visuals and gameplay so intense that hitting the flow state made me stop feeling my entire body.
Recommended if you can handle a tough difficulty curve from the get-go.

in a genre plagued by stagnation, like first person shooters, hyper demon is so refreshingly forward looking and playful in design that it wouldn't need it's harsh aesthetic to stand out among its peers; and it achieves that while also being just so fun to play. truly the textbook definition of an instant classic.

It's unlike any game Iv'e ever played. Truly spectacular visuals combined with incredibly simple yet clever gameplay. Never have I been more motivated to try again after failing in a game.
I am recommending this to anyone who wants a challenge or just to experience something uniqe.
