Prose and Code is a relaxing word puzzle game. Decode ciphers and reveal the excerpts from some of literature's most well known classics to the more obscure novels. The game offers a plethora of ciphers to decode and solve through. Relax and go at your own pace as you work your way through 472 unique ciphers that come from a wide variety of novels. Explore through a selection of genres such as; Horror, Mystery, Drama, Science Fiction, and much more. Each with there own amount of ciphers to solve and increasing difficulty when progressing. Speaking of difficulty, I played this game on the "Progressive" difficulty so this was how my experience went. While making progress through the ciphers on each genre, the game will begin to increase the difficulty of the board you are solving. Each new tier will begin removing letters off the board till you reach its max level, at that point it will leave you with only an empty board and your skills to solve it on your own. It definitely gives you quite a challenge once you reach the Third Level of difficulty. However, I will gladly mention that if at any point you do get stuck and are not enjoying this particular mode, the game does offer a setting to change its difficulty at any time! So if you want to enjoy a more relaxed experience you can if you want to, and if you wanted to give yourself a real challenge you can also set it to the hardest difficulty as well before beginning the adventure. The game also has a helpful hint system in case you get stumped on a cipher, but do be warned though! You can only use them Three times, so use them sparingly. Enjoyed the cipher you just solved and want to know more about it? Well, the game offers a quick synopsis to the book that the excerpt came from, along with a table of contents that tells you about the Authors name and the name of the book as well, but that isn't all! If afterwards, you are still interested in wanting to read the book, the game offers an additional option. Clicking "Entire Story" will send you to the Project Gutenburg website; a digital library with over 75,000 e-books to choose from. There you can download the book and read it at your own leisure. Also would like to bring up that the piano music that plays in the background is very calm and relaxing to listen to while decoding the ciphers. I really enjoyed this game, never played a decoding game before and this one certainly was worth trying out. I would gladly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys these kinds of puzzle games, or is really into reading books.

Simple, great, effective. It's exactly what it says. A bunch of cryptograms. A great alternative to other word games.

AVOID | LACKING | MAYBE | WORTHWHILE | COMPELLING | UNMISSABLE Not me casually adding 70+ books to my TBR list on Goodreads after finishing this game... Prose & Codes is a cipher game that many of us played when we were kids, but this time it pulls quotes from popular/classic novels for you to solve. There are three difficulties and I played on normal throughout. The game is very relaxing and enjoyable to play. The music/atmosphere is calming and whoever picked the quotes did an excellent job, as I think you can get a fairly good idea what the books are about and they often piqued my interest with only a few sentences. Once you complete a cipher, you can read an except and synopsis for the book, and the game has Project Gutenberg links embedded within if you want to read it for free. The game took me 12 hours to complete in its entirety. I played with a friend for ~half of it. We did a game where we guessed the book the quote came from once we solved it (we generally weren't very good lol) which was also fun. If you like books and you like puzzles, this is a good and very chill game I recommend that combines the two. Also, it turns out I can identify Hemingway's writing literally by
the number of 'the's there are in his writing loool
.
