The gameplay and story are really great like 9.0/10 and it plays perfect on Steam Deck, but it's such a long game. So long it kinda takes away from the enjoyment of it. I feel like this game could have been wrapped up in 40 to 60ish hours, but it's easily double that. I'm currently around 120ish hours in and still not done. All in all it's still a really great game and one of my favorites, just wish it was half the length.

I first played Persona 5 in 2019, after Joker was announced for Smash. Persona has become my favourite franchise ever because of that one decision. Persona 5 (and Persona 5 Royal) are part of my top games of all time. Even if people say the story might be bad at times. Even if the combat doesn't feel good to some people. This game truly opened my eyes into seeing what games could actually be. Six to seven years later and this game is still incredibly amazing. I spent over 250 hours on the original on PS4, then 150 on my Switch when I played Royal. This game has changed my life. I will continue to love this franchise to the end. No matter how long it takes for the next game, I will at least give each game a try. Persona 5 is incredible. Please play Persona, or give it a try, and if it's not for you, that's okay.

1000/10 taking the time to play P5R at my own pace was super worth it as i was able to maximise what the game has to offer, from witnessing the stories of each significant character, to playing out the mechanics of the game. if i could go back in time to experience this from the very beginning once more, i would. 1000% recommend to anyone who has any general interest in JRPGs and/or turn-based gameplay! its PEAK.

I have now beaten all modern Persona games as well as Metaphor. There is a hole in my heart. I really liked this game, especially the main cast. Joker is a badass in the anime scenes and some dialogue choices throughout the game, I think he is my favourite of the Persona MC's - but this is not my favourite Persona game. Yusuke and Ryuji make a great set of 'bro' characters, and have hilarious dialogues throughout the game. I even clipped "That was truly cringe worthy" from Yusuke to use on a soundboard. I loved Akechi's shift in dialogue towards the end of the game, and his voice acting was superb. Dialogue is well written for the most part excusing a few extremely dumb lines (
e.g. Ann asking if Futaba is depressed because of her mothers suicide... ofc she is, Ann
), and the music is top notch. Visuals are great, I can see where the visuals for P3R and Metaphor came from and I liked the red/black tones and jazzy vibes. The biggest issue I had (still a small issue) was the combat, in the sense that some affinities are just stronger than others, meaning some characters just get benched then never see combat again. Like the other Persona games, you cannot teach your party members moves that they do not learn by level up (an issue that Metaphor solved since), this means that you eventually run in to points where certain characters are just kind of worse than others. For example, Ann only learns Fire type attacks, not even a single physical one. This means when you run into an enemy who resists or negates Fire (very common), she is essentially useless. You can't even fall back on the "just use her to heal" argument as her best healing spell is only Diarahan - Makoto trounces Ann imo. Makoto has Nuke and physical skills which trigger every type of Technical, meaning she is basically never useless in a fight, on top of this she learns Checkmate + Mediarahan, completely outclassing Ann in combat and support roles. This time last year I had never played an ATLUS game, but over the last year the Persona series has become some of my favourite games of all time and have taught me some great lessons. I really genuinely am looking forward to whatever ATLUS is cooking up for Persona next.

My Early Hours review of – Persona 5 Royal - Went to school. - Got framed for assault. - Entered another dimension. - Cat told me to commit crimes. - Now I fight monsters with the power of friendship and teenage rage. - Also I’m failing math just like in real life. I don’t know what’s happening and where the game is going but it’s stylish as hell and I can hear jazz music in my blood. Send help—or don’t. I’m too busy stealing hearts. 10/10 chaos. Would persona again.

This game is very meaningful In the prologue, the game states that the story is purely fictional and has no relevance to reality. But what I want to say is that the dark and cruel social problems are in reality. Public officials abuse their power, celebrities steal wealth, underground forces collude with officials and businessmen, and unscrupulous companies exploit their employees. All of these are inseparable from the support of the government The game describes a country that has twisted and turned to dictatorship, where politicians manipulate people's hearts and monopolize power,Oppressed young people rise up in rebellion There is no doubt that this game is great

One of the best JRPG games of all time. Solid mechanics and was fun all around. There are some nitpicks here and there, overall I didn't regret a single second or money spent in the game.

Much like the game's central theme of rehabilitation and rebellion, I was held prisoner of this story for the past five to six weeks, from which I finally broke free last night. I must be clear about something, I am a SMT veteran who never played a persona game before and I was not exactly thrilled by the social sim aspect of these games, so I walked in expecting absolutely nothing. despite that fact, I came through completely rehabilitated by this game. There's just.. something marvelous and undescribable about how this story presents itself and develops, even though all your characters follow your stereotypical tropes you still fall in love with and want to spend time with them, even in the most trivial and boring moments you actually have fun interacting with them. You actually spend so much time building your relationships with the cast that you want to see them succeed. The same can be said about most of the villains, most are well written and make themselves hated by the player through their exposition. As an RPG fan I was looking forward to the dungeons and progression systems in this game, however they are rather simple, the combat is pretty much the same "exploit weakness to get extra turn" from the SMT series, which can be pretty cheeseable when you understand it. On the other hand, dungeons are few but well constructed, exactly what I expected from Atlus, nothing magnificent but mostly serviceable (aside from the spaceport, *uck that dungeon). There's also mementos, the "farm" dungeon where you go to grind levels and do sidequests, this was by far the weakest part of the game since the dungeon itself is procedurally generated, bland and ugly to look at. However it serves its purpose well. The story starts pretty weird but quickly becomes incredible, when all pieces start coming into place and you can finally see the full picture the DLC campaing kicks in (you have to fulfill a very specific condition to even trigger this campaign, condition that was not exactly well telegraphed in-game), breaking the pace for a bit before wrapping the story up quite masterfully. This game goes beyond the recommendation, this is one of those games you have to experience for yourself, HOWEVER.. there's a catch. Persona 5R is rather lenghty, if you are a working adult with little time to play (like mysef) I think it'll be hard for you to enjoy the game properly, since the game is not only long, but demands lenghty play sessions to actually make some progress. Therefore, I can only recommend this game if you have a month or so to spare. TL;DR: Wonderful game flipped my view on the social sim aspect, classic atlus experience gamewise, lovable characters, great story with some pacing issues towards the end. ACTUALLY CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS GAME TO WORKING ADULTS WITH LITTLE PLAYTIME.
