It is an absolute crime that this game is not talked about more. The look, the feel, the experience, everything thing about this game is 10/10, 5 star, 100% gold. I've played through it about 3 times now and the only negative thing I can say about it is I want more. Sure, there are other single player FPSs out there, but none of them nail the old school feel with new modern day fixes. TLDR, buy the game. It will not disappoint.

A pleasant surprise, to say the least. I started playing it expecting to see "just another" game with a similar look and feel. Was here looking for copper, but found gold. The game is rather interesting, even on its story. The gameplay is also excellent. The guns have that special something that can make them satisfying to be used. Each one has its own personality and you can easily fall in love with one in particular, just by the way it handles. Go and purchase it.

This is a great game for fans of the retro shooter genre and fans of horror games. It's hard not to recommend. Pros: + Fun. Most important pro a game can have. + Really cool art style that suits the vibe of the game. + Game has a lot of genuinely scary moments without relying on jumpscares or other cheap tactics. It builds on your growing anxiety before delivering any scares. + A pretty good variety of weapons. They all feel pretty useful. Throwing axes at enemies is very satisfying. + Oppressive atmosphere that fosters a sense of dread. + Good soundtrack. + Game is never too easy and rarely feels unfairly difficult. I found the later levels in Chapter 1 very difficult. Cons: - Environments occasionally feel a little same-y, especially in the earlier levels. - A few levels feel like they overstay their welcome. Summary: I feel like this is a real gem if you enjoy the genre. You're really missing out if you don't give this one a try. I look forward to future updates and the final polish on this already very good game. Final Score: 4/5

Great game. Very nostalgic. Been about a year since any major update though. Takes some tweaking with voltage and settings to make it run smooth at 60fps on the Steamdeck. Can't wait for Chapter 2

If you're looking for a downscale resolution FPS with platforming, Cultic is a good ride. Eagerly waiting for the next chapters Run and gun, slide and juke; absolute blast of a game

While I don't think the initial start of it gives off the best first-impression, past the first two levels it is an extremely solid mash-up of a modern boomer shooter and RE4.

It’s a boomshoot masterpiece. The level design is the real star here, with intricate and sprawling areas that reward exploration. You never feel lost and every place feels logical and like it makes sense to the setting. The enemies are excellent, requiring thoughtful approaches. They will cook you if you’re not being intentional. Gunplay is *chefs kiss* with every weapon feeling delightful. The rifles feel like cheating when you line up some poor fool’s noggin and pop it like a ripe watermelon before he knows you’re there. And the art style… who would have known a muddy mix of brown, blue, orange would sing like this? It drips atmosphere and I found moments genuinely creepy. That it’s made by one person is not actually surprising: the clarity and singleness of vision here is so evident. And it pays off.

Upon writing this review, i've only completed the interlude, along with a portion of the first chapter while on vc with my girlfriend. it was a pretty enjoyable experience, we were both pretty captivated by the storyline, but also didn't really understand what was going on. i like the concept of having law enforcement working with the cult, it seems very creative, yet realistic since there is a lot of corruption within law enforcement nowadays. the art style of this game is cool, the enemies are mostly just the cult members wearing their robes, but there is a pretty interesting boss in the interlude which i won't spoil. i definitely applaud the devs on their creativity with the levels and atmosphere of the game, but the enemies are pretty standard for a boom shoot game. it was a bit unnerving to see random cult logos placed in rooms surrounded by the american flag, almost like two solidified ideas were clashing together in my mind. on one hand, there's the cult which represents evil, but there's also the american flags which are supposed to represent justice, not sure how else to describe it but it was pretty cool to physically see the contrast between something like a cult, and law enforcement, as well as how these two things can intertwine within the cultic-verse. Seeing piles of dead bodies everywhere, or randomly seeing a severed-in-half man cooking over a fire, was also really unexpected, yet helped to build a more immersive experience which i enjoyed. the weapons are fun, not too complicated or anything, easy to use, and the movement is pretty good too. i like how you can throw the hatchets, but i've yet to get any really cool kills with this feature. the lever action rifle is really fun to use, i like going for headshots with it. so yeah, not much to really say. get this game if you like good boom shoots, 10/10

The only way to describe this is very simple - this game is just fun to play. Its very old-school but with a modern approach to convenience. Combat is pretty interesting since you get quite a lot of options, soundtrack is a banger, atmosphere at times reminded me of resident evil 4 and I dont think i need to say more. I didnt regret spending my time on this game, so you probably wont regret it either. Looking forward to chapter 2.
