starts good, then becomes boring, then becomes frustrating. the premise is good, but they tried real hard to make it a FPS with all the things that come with that, which doesn't work when you are as slow as robo. I say this as someone who LOVES the robocop movies (yes, even #3)

A true Labour of Love
THAT is how video games based on movies should be made. You can see a fans of original film that know what fans would want to see AND do on robocop game. Before you asked - I am far from biased. Moreover, when it comes to media I like and respect I'm very nit-picky - you can never plaster a name over whatever and expect me not to whip one to shreds (take example, fellow Star Wars fans).
So believe you me when I say: if you dreamed of being Murphy in the childhood - you dream has come true.
Every single aspect deserves a praise - both Robocop-wise and from a point of looking at "Rogue City" as if it would be a stand-alone game. Environmental design which is only highlighted by graphics (and it is breath-taking even on gaming laptop). Attention to every little detail like what is on police table, wet sticker on broken payphone - that alone is colossal work which shows respect to the craft and to the fans. Now add to that how it, without explicitly throwing it in your face, adds to a feeling of retro-futurism and stays realistic at the same time.
That and good dialog and character writing, balanced satire and SLIGHT (without explicitly trying to draw attention to itself) fan-service makes You really immerse in game AND movie world.
Which brings me to the next point (well two, actually). If You are like me and don't like sequels, You can easily ignore them ever happening (well, maybe *SPOILER*, but even that barely will bother You) : all plot elements, that were not in the first movie are reintroduced as if anew. The humor I mentioned (satire) is slightly more absurd and... well, humorous... HOWEVER (please bear with me, fellow purist), since things are getting worse for our old beloved Detroit, that actually feels much more appropriate (people do tend to be stupider and edgier when thing get harder for prolonged time - telling You from personal experience and observations). Ergo that only adds to immersion (again, that comes from very picky and critical person). If You like sequels, then you will feel as if You joined it (You heretic ;) ).
In any case - THAT is the sequel each and everyone of us wanted!
I don't know what to add about gameplay - as You can see from my impressions, it was so smooth and intuitive, so... proper, that it fully allowed the mentioned by me a trillion times immersion. Right ammount of saves, right amount of action on the screen. The HUD. The real RoboCop's HUD. The one and only true one. Just the way You wanted it but also informative of gameplay.
As I said - EVERY aspect deserves a praise.
My only regret - buying it on discount. Such amount of hard work and artistic integrity deserves the pay. So if You have some spare cash - don't wait for promotion. Seriously, good artists and programmers deserve all support we can give them (and I'll at least by the skins for auto-9 and what was there).
If by any miracle any of devs is reading that review: Thank You! Thank You very much for Rogue City! Zrobilisce wspaniala gre, dziekuje

One of the best games I've played in a while and one of the few I've played all the way through (and even unlocked all the achievements), which is rare for me now. If you're a fan of old sci-fi action movies from the 90s, and especially the Robocop series - buy it without any doubt, even for the full price. The plot and atmosphere are top-notch. The moments where you are free-roaming around the city, investigating crimes and completing simple quests reminded me of the old Deus Ex. Slow-motion shooting you unlock mid-game is also incredibly satisfying. 10/10, a masterpiece, highly recommend!

This is a fun game. It reminded me a bit of Arkham Asylum in that there was 'robovision' and you do have a small amount of open world crime solving to do. The game looks really nice, though at times the audio wasn't quite as fleshed out. The main thing was they had Peter Weller himself reprise the role of Robocop and most of the voice acting was well done. The game itself does convey a good sense of both putting you in the metal boots of Robocop and having enough choice in dialogues to actually influence things. At it's core this is a shooter, but there are a fair bit of non-combat activities around the station and out on the beat, and it definately fleshes out Robocop as a character and the citizens he serves.
This was well worth the experience if you are a fan of the franchise. What callbacks there are, are not overplayed, and the studio clearly 'gets' the source material, some of the background chatter and TV programming was truly funny. An above average game, elevated by great use of the license. This fits in the space between Robocop 2 and 3 and is vastly better than the third movie in terms of story. Recommended, grab it on sale if you are a fan of Robocop. 22 hours to complete for me, and I missed some side quests.

I bought the game for about 20 bucks. I got about 14 hours of entertainment out of it. It was pretty easy early on with normal. It makes sense being Robocop vs thugs. If you want to decimate criminals and enjoy Robocop, it's worth playing.
I liked having the skill trees and the custom PCB boards for the main gun to tweak the gun. It keeps it interesting.

This game while short and simple plays like Deus Ex and I feel is one of the more worthy, newer game releases from a western developer in a long time. While serving as a midquel between Robocop 2-3 it feels like what Robocop 3 should have been. It keeps the tone and humor of the original where both movies failed. To 100% the game takes under 30 hours and is worth the value.

They absolutely nailed the atmosphere. Feels just like stepping into a classic RoboCop movie. The graphics are insane, especially for a AA studio, and the world feels amazing.
A couple of issues, though. The game is short, and sometimes it feels like shots don’t land properly, even when the crosshair is dead on. The save system could use some tweaking too.
Still, I had a great time with it. If you’re a RoboCop fan, it’s a must-play despite the flaws.

Well this brings back memories. RoboCop is a franchise I grew up with. Once it was everywhere. Movies, animated series, comics and video games. But those days are long gone and not without good reason. Much as they tried, nothing ever managed to recapture what made the original movie a cultural landmark. After an already inferior sequel, the film series went off a cliff with RoboCop 3. The various series ranged from lacklustre to outright disappointing and I can't remember a good RoboCop game since the SNES era, that's about 30 years ago. As such, I was somewhat surprised to see this. Surprised, yet intrigued. So I bought this and it went straight to the top of my play list.
Considering the state of the franchise, I was admittedly not overly optimistic. The game early on didn't do much to convince me otherwise. It felt rather janky, predicting some major game-breaking bugs that would follow, the controls were not responsive enough, the lip syncing wasn't on point, even the scene direction felt somewhat off. Some early cutscenes involving RoboCop in particular had such weird angles that made RoboCop look tiny, instead of imposing which is what I was hoping for. Further damaging the experience. To make things worse, this game being primarily a shooter, the key aspect of the gameplay, shooting, felt clunky and not particularly satisfying. RoboCop is basically a wimp at this stage of the game. Despite my better judgement I kept playing and the game started making more of an impression. At first, it was amusing tidbits such as RoboCop stopping in the middle of a warzone to investigate a stolen wallet. Then I thought, eh well, good ol'Robo is one big clunky machine, why shouldn't shooting feel clunky too? So, I began to enjoy the flair of the game and kept playing. I am glad I did. The longest segment, what I call the mid-game, was about to start and that one is a doozy.
Following the prologue, the game opens up an area of Detroit for RoboCop to explore. There are several side-quests on the streets, many of them quite interesting. RoboCop gets to play detective and not just shoot everything that stands in the way. I mean there is that too, just not only that. Roaming the streets and upholding the law as RoboCop is disarmingly satisfying. I didn't know how much I wanted to do that until I got to do it. Made me wonder if a fully open-world RoboCop game could have been something to wish for. Just as importantly, with RoboCop gaining new skills and better weapon upgrades, the gunplay improves dramatically and becomes much more fun. The shooting part now works. At least until the late game. And here comes perhaps the game's greatest shortcoming. The mid-game is its peak. There are very few side-quests in the late game, very little roaming. It effectively devolves into an endless shootfest, with story cutscenes in-between. It might have just worked anyway, if by that point RoboCop wasn't so powerful that the balance completely broke down. Early on, gangbangers pose a threat. The first ED-209 is nearly too powerful an enemy. Late game Robo can mow down entire armies. It's rather less satisfying than it may sound.
Leaving aside gameplay and technical considerations for a moment, the game is fanservice gold. Peter Weller is back to reprise his iconic performance as RoboCop and the game wisely chooses to position itself between the first and second film sequels. In practice ignoring the disastrous third film and all its baggage. OCP is again a force to be reckoned with. Gone are the comically dated Japanese zaibatsu and their cringey ninja robots. This isn't the early 90s anymore and Japan isn't taking over the world any time soon. The Old Man is back and finally we get to see the conclusion to his story rather than have to accept they just dropped a bridge on him mid-sequel. Both the premise and plot felt appropriate and faithful to the better parts of the franchise. The game can be violent and serious and it can be sarcastic and funny at the right moments, often in quick succession. It may not exactly nail the dark satire of the first film, but then again very few things ever have. So close enough will have to do.
Purely as a shooter, this is a decent, if rather uneven and unpolished, experience. With a strong middle and weaker early and late phases. It's not a game for the history books, but it is good enough to be enjoyable. As a RoboCop experience though this shines. To put it simply, this is RoboCop 3, forget the movie. For RoboCop fans who have been starved for decent content featuring their beloved supercop, it's an oasis in the desert. It is telling that even though the game has a respectable length, it still felt too short. It left me wanting for more. So much so that I actually played the game twice before I had my fill. A rare feat. I definitely recommend this game to every RoboCop fan out there, maybe also to some more forgiving shooter fans.
