RPG Maker strikes again! Devils Gold is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. This one is notable because the translation and writing is just so bad. Here's the plot for the game: "Jeremy have signed contract with the devil". Have he? Have Jeremy done this? Yes, he have! So you can see from just the sales blurb alone... no serious effort was made in trying to make the writing here even vaguely comprehensible. Everything else in the game is trash, because, well, RPG Maker doesn't tend to get used by competent game developers who have better options and tools available to them. Which leaves, you know, the not competent game developers. Coupled with the abysmal quality of RPG Maker. It's a perfect recipe for Steam garbage. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers. Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Devils Gold is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.

Pretty interesting concept, i think most of top reviews speaking about bugs are outdated, i feel like the developer actually fix theses issues or at least most of them? There was updates with bug fixes afterwards.

A very interesting and exciting game It can interest everyone with its gorgeous plot. It will go even on weak PCs, which in this case is a plus, in general, I recommend this game to everyone

The game would probably be great, but there is no save option. So if you - like I did - come across a bug (tried to escape from a fight unsuccessfully and then nothing else happened), all progress is lost. Bugs happen, that is okay, but having no way of saving and therefore losing everything is not. Edit: To me, it was absolutely not clear that the whirlpool is the save spot. Perhaps it should be explained in-game.
