Have you played Heroes of Might & Magic and wished for a hardcore murder mode? Whelp. Gorgeous pixel graphics, catchy music, and a brutal complexity take you into strange lands. High replay value, but the sheer (read 90°) learning curve and a bit too short of a tutorial might turn off casual players. Albeit once you play, you get that they are not the target audience. Think this is something I'll replay for years to come.

First, there are good reasons you might not like this game. Mainly the NES-era graphics and sound (especially relative to the price) along with the total absence of any lore, story or campaign. In that sense it does feel a bit 'unfinished'. But the game-play is amazing. The mechanics are interesting and well-tuned. The army size limits prevent 'stack of doom' from being the only viable strategy. The infirmary mechanics mean sometimes taking risks is worth it, since it's a lost battle isn't game over. I think it's just an incredibly well-done fantasy 4x.
