ITS PEAK ITSPEAK ITS PEAK ITS ALL OVER THE WALLS But fr though there is genuinely so much to this game and choices genuinely do matter here. Like stuff you do at the very beginning of the game will affect things 4+ hours into the game, three episodes in. I've very rarely had a game have me locked in and seated from start to finish. That 8 hours at time of review is continuous, from the moment I opened the game to the moment I reached the end of the latest episode. I was sat the entire way through. Also hot is the best trait, my ego inflated to the size of Jupiter I was so iRIZZitable

I can't believe how much I am in love with this game. I'm not really a horror fan, but I love mysteries, visual novels, and a side of light romance. I was initially put off by the art style and never gave it another look. I saw Gab Smolders play it and was swept away by the incredible story. The art style ended up becoming something I adored. I also ended up being REALLY into the horror aspect of the game. It adds so much to the intrigue of the story. The characters have incredible depth and I love the organic relationship that forms. I love "choices matter" games like the witcher and dragon age.... but this raises the bar in ways I didn't think possible. The branching is incredible and I've replayed it twice after watching Gab's play through. I ended up buying the graphic novel written by the devs because I was so hooked by their story telling abilities. I am ecstatic that I found the game 4 years late so I don't have to wait that long for episode 5. You'll know instantly if you'll enjoy this game by playing the demo. Give it a chance.

The games horror is very lacking most of the time but the incredible writing and the few bits of horror that are fantastic more than makes up for it. it seems a lot less focused than other horror titles but that would be expected with such a large scope. the more gay you are the more you will enjoy this game, I mean that in the best way possible. also shout-out my man Wayne he is the goat.

As a Slay the Princess fanatic I fully expected to enjoy Scarlet Hollow. Now that I'm almost done with my first playthrough of what's available as of this review, I'm *also* a huge fan of Scarlet Hollow. It's a much, much slower burn than StP, but it's *so* good at lulling you into a false sense of security only for dread to creep back in and remind you that you are, indeed, playing a horror game. At the same time it's much like StP in that it's hilarious and emotionally touching with gorgeous music to emphasize all of that. There's no voice acting, but the sheer size of the game already would make that near impossible, and it's been really fun to give the characters voices ourselves. Unlike StP it is significantly less violent. There is definitely still enough to concern those affected by graphic violence, but it's sparse enough that I don't think it would be quite as bothersome as StP for those concerned. As a bonus, if you are at all attached to the NC part of the Appalachian region, there will be *something* to grip you. I'm not into the whole cryptid thing irl, but learning about it through the lens of the game is fascinating and many of the elements attached remind me so much of home.

It's visually stunning and properly spooky, just like Slay the Princess. I'm glad that I bought it in EA.

Black Tabby Games are some of the most talented story-tellers and developers I have ever had the pleasure of discovering. Scarlet Hollow is an unsettling visual novel that will keep you hooked the whole way through. If you enjoyed Slay The Princess, I can say with utmost confidence that you will enjoy Scarlet Hollow just as much, if not more. If you're thinking about it, go for it. I loved every second of this game and I cannot wait for the release of future chapters.

Incredible game, it’s extremely easy to replay as there are 21 different trait combinations to pick from at the start of the game. Additionally every choice you make matters and impacts the story. It’s funny, the characters are charming, and the horror is top notch. It doesn’t rely on cheap jumpscares and is generally unsettling especially in chapter 4. The only problem is that currently the game is not complete. Even so Scarlet Hollow is an amazing game that’s well worth the price. Even more so if you enjoyed Slay the Princess.

Up there with Disco Elysium, Roadwarden, 80 Days, and Fallen London as one of the best narrative games I've ever played.
