MONSTER SLAYER is a janky unity game. There is no pause button, the menus do not pause the enemies around you. Even the escape key, which darkens the screen and freezes you in midair if you were jumping still doesn't pause the enemies. All of the enemies are clearly from an asset store. The gunplay is poor and you can't change ammo types with the 1-2-3 keys on the keyboard, which made me actually think my keyboard was broken for a second, but no, it just isn't a control. The only threatening enemies are the big deathclaws with huge hitboxes and the aliens that fire energy blasts that home in on you, or summon multiple enemies to fight you at once.
However; the game actually has an interesting idea behind it. Forcing you to switch ammo types to combo on enemies is a neat idea. The weakest ammo type actually has a use for farming weak enemies and tagging guys with energy; and the SLOW bullets are good at giving you a reprieve, as even though your dash makes you feel like you can move fast enemies can keep up. I was actually impressed that you couldn't increase the minimum damage of your shot to be greater then or equal to the maximum damage. I encountered only one major visual bug.
Unfortunately, I didn't complete this game (i died on the alien that summons a deathclaw) so I can't tell you if it has an ending or not, but I will say at the very least it does have some variety, some content, and even some variation in the environment and enemies you face. So should you buy this game? No- this game should not be sold. This is a person's first game. But the fact that it actually works, actually has a degree of challenge, and actually tires a unique concept gives it some kind of value. If this game is a crypto miner then that means the person who made it either kept working on it from before the Bitcoin crash last month, which shows determination, or that means it isn't a crypto miner, malware, or anything of the sort and is just somebody's little game they made with an idea and some free time, and that is commendable.
