This game is a bit buggy but nothing game breaking or too annoying. Game looks great in high def! The characters are relatable teens and the dialogue is dynamic and never feels too bogged down. Although there are some fairly slow moments throughout the game these scenes give more depth to characters, that at first glance seemed fairly two dimensional and shallow. The game is never scary. However, the vibes are fun if you like spooky mysteries. In other words, The Quarry is more a love-letter to people like myself who love campy horror films and tropes. During my first play-through I was devastated when one of my favorite characters died. So devastated that on my second play-through I looked up the walk-through in order to save everyone. You will be doing some walking around but it works for this type of game and doesn't feel tedious or monotonous. The player will be collecting evidence, clues, and cards to help them piece together the mystery of Hackett's Quarry while surviving the night. I'm not sure how much replay-ability it has but I highly recommend it! Very Positive is an accurate review. That being said it's best to buy it on sale:)

Like Until Dawn but with less pointless walking and a few more choices. Fun for exactly 80% of the game, then quickly tanks and finishes in a completely bland disappointing ending. Feels like they put together the last 2 chapters in a rush a few days before deadline.

A pretty weak installment in the Dark Pictures-type game canon. A few good moments, a lot of cringe-y moments, but mostly kind of boring. 4/10, I've played it once and had enough.

NOT WORTH PLAYING! Game randomly on chapter 5 is unplayable. White screen comes out after i picked up a cassette player, and I wasted all of my progress. Hoping steam will return my money...

The Quarry is a gripping interactive horror experience that masterfully blends cinematic storytelling with player-driven decision-making. Developed by Supermassive Games, the studio behind titles like Until Dawn, The Quarry delivers a narrative-rich thriller that centers around a group of teenagers working at a summer camp, only to find themselves trapped in a nightmarish scenario filled with dark secrets and supernatural threats. The game excels in creating a tense atmosphere through its expertly crafted visuals, dynamic lighting, and evocative sound design, all of which work together to immerse players in a chilling and unpredictable environment. At the core of The Quarry’s appeal is its branching narrative system, where player choices dramatically influence the fate of each character and the overall story progression. Every decision, from seemingly minor dialogue options to critical moments of survival, carries weight and can lead to multiple endings. This mechanic encourages careful deliberation and replayability, as players can explore different paths to uncover all the twists and outcomes. The game’s writing strikes a balance between classic horror tropes and fresh storytelling, delivering moments of genuine suspense, emotional depth, and unexpected humor that enrich the overall experience. Gameplay in The Quarry primarily revolves around exploration, quick-time events, and dialogue interactions. While it doesn't feature traditional combat, the tension comes from making split-second decisions under pressure and managing relationships between characters. The game’s pacing is well-tuned, gradually building suspense and layering mysteries without overwhelming the player. However, some sections can feel slow or repetitive, especially during extended exploration sequences where the narrative advances more through dialogue than action. Still, the richly detailed environments invite players to investigate and discover clues that deepen their understanding of the story. The cast of characters is one of the game’s standout elements, featuring a diverse group of teenagers each with distinct personalities and backstories. The strong voice acting and believable performances contribute significantly to character development, making players genuinely care about their survival. The dynamic interactions and evolving relationships add emotional stakes to the horror, as players must often choose whom to trust or save, heightening the narrative tension. The horror elements range from psychological unease to intense moments of terror, blending supernatural scares with human drama in a way that keeps the experience engaging throughout. Visually, The Quarry is impressive, boasting detailed character models and lush environments that capture the eerie atmosphere of a remote summer camp. The lighting and shadow work create effective tension, with dimly lit cabins, dense forests, and sudden flashes of danger enhancing the suspense. The soundtrack and ambient noises further immerse players, with subtle cues that build anxiety and sudden crescendos during critical moments. While some graphical elements occasionally appear slightly dated compared to cutting-edge titles, they do not detract from the overall mood and storytelling. In conclusion, The Quarry is a compelling horror adventure that succeeds by focusing on narrative depth, player choice, and atmospheric tension. It offers a rich, cinematic experience that horror fans will appreciate, especially those who enjoy story-driven games where decisions matter. Although it may lack traditional gameplay complexity and occasionally slow down, its strong writing, character development, and immersive presentation make it a memorable and replayable title. For anyone seeking an interactive horror story filled with suspense, emotional weight, and chilling surprises, The Quarry is a standout choice that delivers a haunting and satisfying journey. 🎮 The Quarry The Quarry is a really good horror game. You play as teenagers at summer camp trying to survive a scary night. Your choices decide who lives and who dies. The story is fun and has many endings. It feels like a horror movie you control. Graphics and acting are great. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5/5

This game has a lot of positives going for it. The story is interesting, the characters are enjoyable, and there are a lot of different outcomes. I bought this game for multiple reasons. 1. I am a big horror fan. 2. I love "choices matter" games 3. I really enjoyed Until Dawn on the Playstation 4. I was looking forward to achievement hunting this game like I did with Until Dawn Now....the issue I have is how agonizingly painful it is to get the achievements. You can go back and do chapter select once you finish the game....but honestly it doesn't really help if you are missing a collectible or tarot card. If you make one tiny mistake in your playthrough you'll be screwed and more than like locked out of a tarot card/collectible. You could go into chapter select after you beat the game and try and fix your mistake....but from there you have to play the ENTIRE game over from your chapter you selected because it gets rid of all collectibles and tarots beyond where you chapter select. If you want to get achievements for getting ALL tarot cards and collectibles you have to do it in one playthrough....also....you cannot get all collectibles AND cards in one playthrough....you would have to pick tarot cards first, go back, and do another playthrough for collectibles. Then on top of that add all the other achievements that require more playthroughs or partial playthroughs to that....Its too much. The first run I did I missed 3 tarot cards...started a second run and missed The Tower tarot just by turning down the wrong path, so from there I restarted. Now on my third run and got back up to chapter 8...I accidentally missed a QTE, one of the characters died, and locked me out of another Tarot. If I wanted to make sure this person didn't die in chapter 8 I would probably have to finish this run...and chapter select starting at chapter 4. I'm not doing it. It's not worth it. If you want to buy this game for achievement hunting I highly recommend against it. Its no wonder the percentage of people that have obtained some of these achievements is so low. Its an actual nightmare and I applaud anyone that got 100% of the achievements legitimately. I think I would have been happy enough with this game if collectibles were permanently saved and you could chapter select to do collectible cleanup without basically playing the game over and over again.
