Sadly this was not the game I hoped it would be. I was hoping to simply have a tower defense game where one would accumulate resources during battle and continue to upgrade the outpost during the pauses between waves or between stages. Instead, we got this piece of polished crap. Before knowing what the game was like, I was so excited to get this game because it looked like it was going to scratch all the itches I had. It looks beautiful, but it's execution is just lousy. Talk about bait and switch.
There's so much boring, dull time spent gathering crap all over separate maps, that are separate from the outpost battle map, to bring them back to your base to build and upgrade your outpost. That's too slow, boring and tedious for me. I'll never buy a game early any more. I've done it handful of times and been burned almost every time. I'm going to let any new game cook for half a year before I buy them any more, because developers and publishers over promise and under deliver all to often any more. They do this either through showing you more bells and whistles during early game previews (I'm looking at you Watch Dogs - Ubisoft), or they show you such little of their game (like in this game's case), that you think you're sure what you're getting only to be totally lied to.
I try to play a game to see if it will get better and push past the initial hurdles to get into the great bits, but sadly there were no great bits in this game, other than what was in your face from the start, pretty graphics. I spent too many hours (15.5 at the time of this writing) to be able to refund it.
Now that this game has been all but abandoned, I warn people, stay away from it or really do your homework before deciding to get it and wait for it to go on sale. This one's a hard and sad NO for me.

Would refund if I could. Minimal effort, terrible grindy gameplay with no redeeming value. Other reviews may tell you to get through the early game grind and that it gets better, but that just seems like a scummy way to push your gameplay too far for a refund. Avoid.

As a heads up: You will have issues with Intel's crappy 13/14th gen processors and UE5. So you will need to address that issue on your end before the game will run if you have one of those unfortunate CPU's. (This has nothing to do with the game)
Once you get past that you are going to enter the world of scavenging stuff to make stuff then turn that stuff into the mechanical embodiment of the 2nd Amendment. I hear an Eagle cry and the American Flag will flow in the breeze when all the bases guns sound off and whatever thing made the mistake of being in range.
The graphics look amazing.
The sound is good but it can glitch out on mob effects.
Gameplay is a mix of scavange/resource management and gathering missions/and tower defense. COOP does work and you use the Host's base but everyone finishes with the loot to go back to their base. (You just have to play into the story a bit to unlock ASSIST OTHERS.
Gun play is pretty solid. There can be an animation issue if your too close to a wall your character will aim up into the air....
A lot of creative thinking to puzzles. You can blast open a door.... use power.... find a key... find a button... or punch a door down to open it. You can also hop over terrain to get to areas and find secrets.
I will say... I don't like the single save file as I nuked my main game to go back and relearn controls after a long break.
Something happened with the voice lines and they are now much worse than before....
Weapons/gun play feels good and the different style of heroes to play feel unique enough. I like rocket barrage myself.
Multiplayer can lag .... and I had a match where I disconnected all the time... but the game allowed me to reconnect without issue and I got to keep all my loot.
Now I didn't make it in to act 4 yes (as I wiped my progress) but I have been satisfied with the pace/flow of the game and the over all story the game presents....
But let me be clear... you gave me a base I can build any way I want and I can put guns all over it..... I got the cake and icing and everything else is sprinkles.
As for COOP ... I don't see very many people in the menu with I go look to assist.... and the sequel is coming out in the future... so you might not get rando's joining in..... (They are limited in what they can do to your base so they can't sabotage it directly).... but when the next game comes out you might need friends. But all content is doable by yourself... you just might need to grind weapons/gear 1st.

Its an engaging game, although it can feel a bit long winded at times, especially when gathering resources to upgrade your defences or damage output, maybe even for some extra utility components to help with repairs and ammo supplies. The game could be so much more than what it is at the moment, i would like to see some specialised missions for solo and co-op modes of play, missions that would take you away from the standard, mundane, rinse and repeat grind. The final fight is manic and great fun and i have found myself at times just watching my siege engine design being tested, then back to base to tweak it up or just change a few minor things, i could go into further detail with building and design and how your tour rig doesnt really suit the siege scenario due to the fact you dont require so much utility logistics but more of the earth shattering artilary or whatever pokey stick suits you. In a nut shell its a game you will get alot of fun from and have a sense of value for your wallet, until you get to the stage where the thought of doing another tour for materials is almost the i cant be bothered, and from there we all do different things, me i went and played something else until a few patches dropped and i played it again, alas no real change but part 2 of the IP will be with us soon...............

The story to the game rather short but challenging. Iv spent a long time farming the custom Return to Dawn base to scavenge the parts for my base. End game challenge runs is were the true game comes out. My base is at 1.489.000 power and have several bases iv built for certain challenges. Alot repeat farming but there's quick ways to do it. Its does have a few set backs but still enjoyed the game. The story not much, just like a history detail of whats going on. Rest is loot, survival, devastation and fun.
If you want alot of grinding an see how far end game you came make it this is were it shines. An those say cant figure out co op. when in mission standby before starting the tour, mission is were you join your friends. For $25 iv enjoyed the game well. Outpost 2 is being made due to some things couldn't be changed in this one. But don't let the negative reviews hold you back from this one.

Note that this game is abandon and are now working on the next outpost game.
However, what's there is fun to play if you don't mind the grind cause it's really grindy.
I hope the fix many of the technical issue in the next game

the game does not do a very good job of telling you how to play in depth but the basics of it. but its def my new favorite game to play. they are making a second one but this game is a very hardcore grinding game. the middle tower content is okay. the bread and butter is the end game content. the turret and cannons you get are insane and do massive damage. its also a nice way to play its makes you think, you cant just spawn in and let it play with the extra challange you can get to make it harder.

I like the concept of the game. It remember me battlefield 2024 back in the day. But still bad optimisation, UI not intuitive, I did't get how to play coop.

The gameplay loop is somewhat grind intensive to gather resources for building your outpost within a reasonable time. You'll be repeating the same level layout multiple times only to be able to build just a couple more turrets at the end of each run. You can gain more materials faster by taking on more risky cards between levels but you if fail the run, any loot collected will be lost unless it was extracted out via drones.
Only a small fraction of your play time will be during the extraction phase. Currently Outpost Infinity Siege is a bit of a let down as it technically isn't finished. Additionally, the game can run quite poorly the more you build up your outpost.
If you can look past those flaws there is a solid foundation for this game to build from. Hopefully the next iteration with Outpost 2 turns out better.

Game is abandoned with the story cutting off without resolution. Despite that huge flaw over then some rough patches in the gameplay I got my moneys worth for what enjoyment I got. Buy the dlc version and not this or you'll miss out on some exclusive content you wont get with the OG. There is no upgrade due to the game being not fully completed.
