I love the art and wish more games followed suit in this style! However, I can't recommend the game because only its art is its greatest strength. It's a port of a mobile game that certainly plays better with keyboard and mouse, and you can feel the focus on a brain-wasting grind. Here are the biggest issues:

The biggest issue is that enemies are boring, massive damage sponges who are just unfeasible to take down relatively quickly unless you have at least 5+ pets with you (hatch-able egg drops are a random item you can get). You'll just be kiting around for a minute or even longer per enemy who deals a lot of damage to you quickly. Your pets also go down quickly and need to be way-too-frequently revived and then healed.

The UI has several issues. My "open chest" prompt, the E key, continued to display even a hundred ft away from chests that I went up to and then stepped away from due to combat, so I was unintentionally able to open multiple ones remotely. Additionally, there are inconsistencies with item management; you can scroll-click to quickly move an item from your personal inventory to a storage unit, but you have to manually click-drag to transfer storage units to the inventory; why not have it work both ways? There also doesn't seem to be a way to clear entries in your hotkey bar at the bottom; you can even double up the same item in more than one slot, which is pointless.

There is so much ambiguity everywhere; you can't gauge how tough an enemy might be until you simply check how slow their HP is decreasing. I thought my character's on-the-go inventory was limited to a pages' worth of stuff, until I just kept picking up more things and saw that another page simply appeared to accommodate it. What's the purpose of local storage, then, or what is the normal carrying limit? It's nowhere to be found.

The gameplay loop is mindless given how you basically kite around enemies for minutes straight when they almost all behave in the same way, wandering towards you in a sort of hesitating sort of way, and then some maybe sort-of-retreating when their health is low, but still being able to get aggro'd back towards you. Munch on food you find from corpses or barrels for instant healing, cast spells, and keep proceeding through dungeons that just have switches to open locked doors. That's... basically what it's been for the first 3-5 dungeons and it doesn't seem like it'll get better
Granted, the art of the magic spells is awesome in its pseudo-voxel-like style. The visuals are probably the greatest retro delight of the game, but the actual playing of it leaves much to be desired for, even the Deck Rock deck-building mini-game in it, which has... strange UI behavior when playing cards, and the Fishing Survivors VS-like mini-game; kudos for adding these, but it feels like too little time was spread too thin to make any one of these experiences truly awesome, and instead they all feel ultimately mediocre across the board. Sorry, I really wanted to like this game but the enemies really shouldn't be so absurdly spongy and there ought to be way more variety in the landscape beyond visuals.

[Looks up from their Brackenwood Gaming Desk™, re-adjusts their Spectacles of Antiquity, and focuses on the Production of the Review]
"Ahem. If you have been suitably entertained by this Developers' previous works you may wish to attend to this particular Version of the Entertainment Node. Multiplex Aspects have been improved to the point deep-diaphragm chuckle, Fishing for instance is now a miniscule 'Survival' Game and the Local Card players have something Vastly more Invigorating than the previous iteration of 'Fued'.
And so it has come to this. This Particular Branch of the '9th Dawn Remake' is Downright Excellent™ across the Board of the previous versions. The Developer has listened to their channels, and has responded with, quite Frankly, an AWESOME VERSION GET THIS GAME. ...Ahem."

This is by and far the best dungeon crawler Ive seen in a looooong time. Im not gonna sit here and give you every reason to play, just do it. Its worth the small amount of money it costs for what you get.

►Infinite inventory, no item gestion; you can carry all your stuff.
►You can respec any time, anywhere, your different skill trees and attributes, letting you experience axe and shield or spells as you want.
►Cool pets evolution system, funny and original to collect creatures that way. You have 5 starting creatures that have many, many different evolutions.
►Awesome game, probably many other good things to say
→ but super grindy. I hate when some devs spit in players faces that way... When you finish the game, if you want to 100% it, you have to pointlessly complete again and again every part of the game to reach a kill count of 70 of each creature. That kind of thing can wipe everything positive and leave you with the feeling that the game is repetitive and tedious... bad achievement design here, IMHO. (Honestly, I checked the achievements for games II and III and decided to not buy them for that reason; I don't want to grind again ^^')
Still, I recommend that game; just maybe try to reach 70 of each creature killed as you progress in the game, because having to remember where the hell you met that specific enemy after finishing the game is not so easy.
