Shadow Gambit: A Stealth Masterpiece
Mimimi Games has done it again, but this time, they’ve perfected their formula. *Shadow Gambit* stands as the best game out of their three stealth RTS titles, offering an unparalleled blend of strategy, creativity, and immersion. The level design is exceptional—each island feels unique and thoughtfully crafted, with guard placements and environmental challenges that reward both tactical thinking and careful execution.
One of the game's greatest strengths is the freedom it gives players in approaching missions. Whether you prefer sneaky stealth or all-out distractions, the variety of characters and abilities allows for multiple play styles. Each mission can be tackled in countless ways, making it incredibly satisfying to experiment with different strategies and tactics.
The *DLCs* are an excellent addition to the game, adding even more depth and replayability. They introduce new story elements and gameplay mechanics that keep the experience fresh long after you've finished the main campaign.
Speaking of the campaign, the *story mode* is engaging, with memorable characters and a narrative that hooks you from start to finish. The character design is top-notch, each one with their own unique abilities and personalities that complement the overall story perfectly.
In conclusion, *Shadow Gambit* is a must-play for fans of stealth games. It takes everything great about Mimimi's previous titles and improves upon it in every way. If you love tactical, stealth-driven RTS games, this is the one you’ve been waiting for.

I got this game after LOVING Desperados 3. It has the same mechanics, and the gameplay is fun in a similar way. However the missions start to very quickly feel repetitive. The characters are generic and uninspiring. The dialog is poorly written, and individual voice lines cannot be advanced by clicking (i.e. to read instead of listening to the drawn-out delivery), forcing you to either sit through the tell-don't-show narrative or just skip the interactions entirely. The forced back-and-forth sections on the ship in between missions drag out and take away from what is fun about the game. If you haven't played Desperados, get that instead. This is OK if you have already played Mimimi's other games and want to get this one too.

Want to play more games like this with new strategies and characters. Have to adapt new stuffs if you are big fan of Desperados 3, Shadow Tactics and War Mongrels. Lots of thoughts are introduced.

Amazing Stealth-Strategy!
Fun campaign with a few short, surprisingly heartfelt story moments with the crew (great voice work).
Post-Campaign opens up a lot of unique challenges per mission for achievement hunters, incentive's multiple playthroughs of the missions kind of like Hitman WoA.

I feel like the fundamental gameplay loop of this series does not work and they just keep trying to patch things on top of it and pray that they can make something of it. The problem is that the whole game is just too binary: a single slip into an enemy's field of vision is just instant death. Similarly, if you sneak up correctly it's just an easy instant kill. The whole game becomes wildly swingy, and you are constantly having to quicksave and quickload due to this. Compounding this issue, the game gives you a bunch of characters with a bunch of tools at their disposal, but most of the tools are completely useless because of the developers allowed them to function as intended they'd be totally broken. Take the whistle: whistle to an enemy in the vicinity and they'll wander over to you for the easy kill. But it's *too* easy, so now 90% of the enemies in the game are immune to the whistle. Meanwhile, they give you a gun with ammo on each character which is basically just a cheat code.
The whole thing ends up just immensely frustrating to play. You've got all these cool tools but most of them are useless. And the controls and UI are so fussy that you keep randomly dying to stupid stuff. So you just keep quicksaving and hammering away at encounters and hoping you'll finally get the timing perfect, because the game doesn't really give you much choice when you always have three guys directly looking at each other.
The gameplay just doesn't work.

Final game of the stealth strategy trilogy containing Shadow Tactics, Desperado 3 and this one.
Desperado 3 is my favorite of the bunch but this game is awesome and packed with content. There always is something fun to do.
Only caveat, we go back to the same maps a lot. They are big so that's not really an issue if you concentrate on the active mission. But if, like me, you enjoy cleaning every map you go in, this is kind of a problem.
I prefered the maps of Desperado 3 where the mission objectives and the level design were more linked.
With that said, I enjoy playing it a lot. 30+ hours and I still haven't got to the end of the story.
Good job Mimimi games. It is sad to know that it was your last game.

I was really excited to get into this game. Desperado's 3 was incredible! This feels like a far cry from that. The characters aren't particularly interesting, the story is bland, the missions feel repetitive and for some reason the path finding and controls seems to have regressed from the previous title. I really wanted to enjoy this game, but after 8 hours. Its unfortunately a no from me.

It's difficult writing about this game after the closure of the studio. I enjoyed their other games, and I enjoyed this one. In some ways, it was the triumph of their production.
