So its pretty much a choose your own adventure kinda game. Its act actually pretty hard. You really have to manage training with the main quest and side quest and buying, scavenging and selling gear. Not gunna lie I had to do some serious scum saving. If you max out a rep with one of these chicks you also get to see some drawn boobs lol thats good too I suppose.
All in all decent game. Needs more content though.
I would suggest to the devs that the "time" system needs to be drastically extended. There isnt enough time to do everything sometimes. Also there should be more scavenging locations and random encounters during those.
More locations, Rare weapons/armor to unlock through quest would really take this game from a 7 to a 10 in my opinion.
Also why the hell is there no blacksmith in the second town to repair armor? That was really annoying.
I would rate the game 7 out of 10.....but understand if you had the perfect play though and didn't have to reload a bunch it would only take you maybe four to six hours to beat TOPS to take that for what its worth to you and your dollar

The game in and of itself was particularly remarkable with its artstyle and music.
However - survivability takes nearly lottery levels of luck to get going after the start of the game.
The combat system is not inherently intuitive and to survive the start of the game you need high scores in preferably stats AND weapon skills - which while you can reroll for free as often as you like might take hours to get a random roll of stats and skills that will allow you to make it.
My rolls through 72 rerolls only hit a decent number for stats TWICE with NO weapon skills - or I could get a tolerable weapon skill with NO stats.
I tried to game for a decent span of time but in the end refunded as I wasnt enjoying myself merely dying over and over and over without any progress.
If you are patient towards the rerolls or willing to keep trying at a likely loss progression - this is certainly the game for you :)
However with my luck going into the game it moreso came to be suicide simulator as I couldnt make it past the first battle with any of the crafted characters that came from all of those rerolls.

TL;DR - The game seems super RNG heavy at first, but knowing which stats affect this and learning the combat systems means that RNG isn't too brutal, if you play smart. It's a fun game with a neat story, only downside is that it is a bit short. Solid 8-9/10 for me
The main complains of the reviews seem to be how RNG heavy this game is and that it gets frustrating. Understandably, it is at first. My first playthrough had me save scumming quite a few times. My 2nd playthrough? Not once and I completed every fight that I could do. The tactic? Max out your agility, coordination, and your weapon of choice.
At the first chapter, you can get your agility and coordination to level 7 before the first big fight. The fight will be a cake walk, just make sure you recover and respite appropriately. In the second chapter, it's possible to get your agility to 20 and your coordination to the 13s. Once your agility is to 20, fights are laughably easy since enemies can never touch you.
And... that's it. Leveling up your mastery of swords/axes/spears will make you do more damage, to the point where you're 1 hitting literally everyone (even those guys with 60+ hp and full of armor). The game isn't brutal once you learn which stats matters. A bit of a balancing issue on the dev's part, but I still enjoyed my first play through where I was discovering all this.

I remember playing a very similar game to this about a roman legionnaire, but this game is much better and better balanced (i.e., I don't die nearly as often and can pursue the story line). I am scum saving, but kind of have to as I figure out various strategies, quests, etc. On sale, this game is a steal and I think it is worth full price. I wish there were a few more inventory slots, and more time in camp, as it is very difficult to arm and armor yourself and do much of anything else (i.e., craft, alchemy, quests, train, etc.). Go for TH Ax, or ax and shield not TH sword, or sword and shield, as you can split shields easier with an Ax (I think). Though in later game you get a great 2H sword as part of a quest, so you could go that route. I haven't tried polearms or crossbows much. Always take at least one medicine, waterskin, antidote in your pouch, and 2 of each is better to use between fights in a battle.
UPDATE: The Dev is very responsive and attentive and is in the process of making Easy a little easier by adding some more gold to Easy mode, address some issues with too small inventory or difficulty in swapping items in camp, addressing not enough time in camp by adding some more time for Easy mode, and reducing prevalency and/or potency of poison usage. Hopefully this will reduce the necessity of scum saving in the final Act. Great game and attentive Dev.

Renpy made game. Follows a path and has nothing to do with your tactics or character builds. Massively unfinished as it ends abruptly. The story is shallow and the characters are bland.
I would suggest waiting for a complete game before buying one like this which is totally unfinished.
My total playtime would be 5 hours to complete.

As of right now, I don't think I would recommend this game to anyone, even with the promises of updates and rebalancing (although, the idea of paid DLC for a game that feels wholly unfinished and unpolished seems to be jumping the gun a bit on the part of the developers).
The base concept seems solid, and as a fan of the purely text-based RPG, Lords of Aswick and games like Darkest Dungeon, it sounded familiar and interesting enough to look into. What you get instead, right now at least, is a frustrating time sink. Starting out in the initial section of the game, one might get the impression that the difficulty correlates to the lowly status of the character, and is tied to their lack of equipment, skill points, etc, but the power creep that you might expect in most RPG's or skill-management oriented games doesn't ever really happen-- enemies become more difficult consistently alongside you (or actually just stay consistently stronger than you), so there never feels as though there is any real character progression, despite investing points and upgrading equipment. As a result, combat really just boils down into staying alive long enough to slightly chip away at enemies and reloading saves in case RNG kills you. The combat mechanics as they relate to virtue/reputation with soldiers also seems somewhat broken, as the only way to survive battles that can drag on for dozens and dozens of rounds is by regaining stamina, which in turn drains both of the prior stats. This tends to create unrewarding loops of constantly just getting by, and coming out worse off for it, unless you've become so tired that the following fight also kills you.
To mention Darkest Dungeon again as comparison, as a game that also scales difficulty along with character improvements, at least if you had a bad run and failed, you had the ability to recruit or swap new characters, and could go back and improve the skills and equipment of them by taking on less challenging levels. Here, if you hit a wall -- in my case it was usually by using training opportunities on certain skills to complete specific quests -- you don't get a second chance unless you consistently save and reload to then ignore any quests, thereby ignoring character progression or missions.
I can forgive the minor grammatical issues, occasionally hacky dialogue, and the odd bugged quest, but I would recommend waiting to see what people are saying about the game after the next update, because right now it is frankly punishing to sit through hours of gameplay expecting things to improve or get more fun. Here's hoping it does get improved, as I think there are good ideas here, and I want to like it, but as of right now, it's probably the most frustrating experience with a game I've had in a long time.

(my game time is misleading because i mostly play offline, so it didnt register my time spent)
I like it, if there is any real problem is that it feels quite short, when you finaly think you have your char on its way to be very powerlful it suddently ends, and it ends on a cliffhanger..
i know its not on beta but here is hoping a lot more is added to it. but what it has, definatly worth its price tag if you enjoy building a character, has a time limit on it tho (although the time limit constraint is annoying but its more lenient on easy mode)

Should have just called this game "RNGsus Will Roll."
Because that's what it is. That's ALL it is. A non-stop use of the Random Number Generator, coupled with a Dark Souls like desire to abuse the player.
I find the best strategy is to save scum a training-gamble for rest-repeat scenario. The rest is utterly useless, and annoyingly silly.

I started playing this game during version 1.1 and had a fair bit of fun with it. However, subsequent updates have carved away just about all of the fun-factor I was experiencing. The devs seem more focused on stripping away any hint of meta with heavy-handed gameplay changes in order to make the game as difficult as possible, even on 'easy' mode. Each update from 1.1 brought changes to discourage specific character builds that trivialized the late game, but(IMO) it only succeeded in nerfing certain builds to the point of them being nearly useless, partially broken, or extremely inefficient. More often than not, I found myself relying on save-scumming and RNG to get me through the content.
For those who will focus on the 70+ hours I sank into this game, understand that 90% of this play time happened when I was still enjoying myself and prior to the updates leading to version 1.3.

Really liked the quests and the overall tone.
Top lesson learned after some 10 hours in the game - you got to hustle if you want to survive. The world does not revolve around you.
Failed to acquire decent gear? You get smacked. Did not make friends? You get smacked. Want to cross some big boys? You get smacked hard.
Playing gallant knight will get you poor. Playing total scum will get you much hate. You wanna live a little - you gotta cheat a little... and compromise a LOT.
10 real lives out of 10.
