Works on Reverb G2.
Cave Digger 2 is not a terrible game, but unsatisfying combat and overwhelming amount of jank spoils it too much to recommend. Also Deep Rock Galactic being entirely playable with free VR mod makes CD2 even less attractive.
The only truly enjoyable part of CD2 is progression. It is really well paced and exciting, with tools sometimes getting new unexpected properties after an upgrade. If only the rest of the game could've been at the same level of quality, then it would have rival DRG, but sadly it is more on the same level with something like Bean Stalker.
Movement and item interactions are very janky, and it hurts both exploration and combat. And the latter is already weak by its own: enemies are brain dead and only possess threat when they clip inside the terrain and attack you through it. There is only one gun and shooting it feels and sounds very unsatisfying. Hitboxes are imprecise, and enemies have very little reaction to being non-lethally hit. Melee combat is also very basic, and it's simply not viable against some enemy types.
Walking over rough surfaces causes annoying screen wobble, some staircases are not even passable without jumping. Climbing anything is very awkward, especially for ropes, where jank can just throw you back to the floor. Terrain collisions during movement can cause level crashes, it happened to me 3 times in 7 hours.
Finally, visuals are quite bad even by Quest standards. For a game mostly set in dark caves, CD2 has horrible interior lighting. And most of the textures are just comically low res.
