Battlefield™ 2042 Reviews

While 2042 hasn’t been a fan favorite by a long shot, it’s actually made its way into my top 4 Battlefields. The game had an extremely rough launch. Performance was shaky, audio felt off, and the lack of voice chat rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Another big sticking point was the class system. The rework in this title made a lot of longtime fans feel like the classic class system was botched, which didn’t help its reputation at launch. Because of that, tons of players jumped ship early on. After taking a look at the reviews, I’ve also noticed a lot of people bombing it now because of having to enable Secure Boot as if their favorite "fps" games don’t already require that to be enabled. Even the new Battlefield 6 beta has the same requirement and somehow received far less backlash, so keep that in mind while checking out other reviews. In its current state though, it’s a completely different experience. The maps feel way larger than any other Battlefield I’ve played, and with 128-player servers, that scale actually feels alive and chaotic instead of empty. Performance issues are basically gone too ( at least on my system ) with smooth gameplay, no stutters, and no hitches. If 2042 had released like this from day one, I genuinely think it would’ve been received way better. It might not ever reach fan favorite status, but for me, it’s turned into a game I keep coming back to. Battlefield has done a great job keeping this game relatively clean compared to COD or other games. This is a game where the majority abide by being polite and more games should follow suite. It has great various gameplay scenarios and is a game that I recommend to younger players especially when compared to other such games.

Personally, this game was good during the beta back in 2021, as well as the first few years. 2024 and 2025 were rough. Especially with the cheaters running around and pissing everybody off. Do I think this game is fun? Absolutely. Do I think this is traditional BF like the open beta for BF6? Absolutely not. But you can run and gun like COD but without the SBMM or Ai generated crap. A lot of games btw have secure boot in them such as Helldivers 2, Ready or Not, Ghost Recon, etc. I do not see people complaining. It's more of the cheaters who abuse the ds windows system to play around with aimbot scripts and wallhacks who are very mad that they can't pretend to be "good" at a video game anymore. If you want to cheat so much go play COD BO6 or Warzone where there is no such thing as an anti-cheating policy. You can cry harder for me and we OG BF and FPS players just laugh at you. If you want to cheat so much by running scripts (because that is the only way you know how to have fun with secure boot in the bios turned off), delete your steam account and become a normie. Overall, this game still has potential. If they add some of the OG features they added into the beta of BF6, with Javelin Anti-Cheat, and permanently banning all cheaters and losers from the game(s), this company will have more and more players. To the cheaters: uninstall, delete your steam accounts, it's absolutely over for you now. I do not even feel one bit of sympathy for you.

Secure boot. Can't play the game I paid money for. Graphically worse than BFV, gunplay is worse, obvious reused assets, goofy character design and lines, TTK downgrade, zero point in the class system, literally not even worth the $2.99 sale price.

I dont care the game sucks, i dont care it doesnt run well, i dont care if theres bots, but please just let me play the game please remove secure boot, I aint messing around with my pc for this game, call it lazyness, call it lack of experience but theres no reason for a game to require such an absurd requirement that wasnt there before

I develop games using PsyQ (Sony SDK for PS1) binaries and have specific runtime libraries (ntvdmx64), it won't work with secure boot. Therefore I can't play game that I've bought. UPD. I've changed my processes and now I build on a CI server, but still instead of BF2042 you better buy BF6, at least beta was fun. UPD2. Comments were a #### show, so I disabled it.

Quality of that of a free/cheap Battlefield with COD gunplay. Enjoyable for $2

Fist removing Linux Support and then forcing Secureboot. What a bunch of bullshit. Fuck you EA you cant tell me how to run my OS. Do not buy

Random update requiring secure boot makes the game unplayable.

im having more fun unlocking everything solo with bots and feeling invincible than i was actually playing with others online
