They don't make melee-centric games like this anymore, if they ever did to begin with. I'm not fond of the gear acquisition, but there's so many fun systems in play that I can overlook it. Its got the hallmarks of what made games good before like hitstop and player-sided range and hitboxes while still having difficulty through enemy variations that will just stick to you and force you to engage with them in a fun dance of death.
Oh right, there's a class with guns now, still pretty CQC centric, but there's some range focus now for those that prefer to stab men from a distance.

Crunchy hack & slash. Allows both relaxed and somewhat mindless combat all the way up to stacking specific combos with good returns. Build variety is very cool too

This game lowkey goated. The continual major updates pre-1.0 make me have high hopes for this as it moves further. I would definitely recommend to roguelite fans

Tries to be a challenging game but its just a painfully easy button masher but you MIGHT sometimes die to a enemy with a crazily inflated damage number, ALSO the rougelike elements are complete trash I dont know why devs thing the same equipment but with random number boosts scattered around is an interesting system.

It has so much style, and it scratches that itch that I've had for a first-person melee game. With a combo system as the cherry on top. I love it.

it is a mortal sin to not have tried this game if you're a fan of first-person melee combat. do yourselves a favour and crank up the music, turn off the auto-combo and slay some fucking ghouls

I enjoy this game and find myself playing it more and more. However, the difficulty curve is pretty steep and I can’t seem to get past the caves. I love tough games but sometimes it feels a bit cheap getting surrounded and pummeled to death in less than a second.
I like the combat but wished it felt a little more weighty. I find some of the moves painfully slow too, I think I’d prefer faster swings and more weighty feedback when connecting or blocking. More sound effects, more brutality to go with the level of gore presented. I assume some of this will be refined while the game is in early access.

About a week ago, I made a post in steam discussions in which I suggested a few changes.
Today the game got an update, which had ALL those changes in it.
People in the video game's community often complain that devs don't listen to players. Here's a dev, who does. Leaving a review to support the dev of a great game that deserves more attention.
