Another short and comfy game. It's less optimized than the first one, but other than that its more sunday morning anime fun.

Short, simple and fun story-platformer styled after younger audience anime episodes. Very nice sprite work and character designs. In true spirit it has OP/ED and mid-way eye catches.

This game got me surprised, is quite cute and fun. The way that the dev made it as if it's some sort of Sunday morning anime is interesting and different. We also can see the passion he put in doing this, since I imagine is quite difficult for the short staff that appears on the credits, it make me want to support them. In a way, it's a quite simple side scroller, no difficult controls or mechanics, is quite easy and there's a option to just skip and keep watching the story. The focus on this is the story, like a episode of the anime, even the stages are named after anime episodes and play like anime episodes, there's much more story on each episode than game stages. So be warned, buy only if you are interested in reading and watching the story, if you're thinking of that, it's worth of the full price.

Kokoro clover is what I call a delight of a game to play, I started with part 1 (as you should) which was a little basic and short I admit but think of it as a prologue, one of which was only really episode 1 at that but it had content and story and built up ready for what we have here, part 2, the game has cute and cool characters aplenty, a fun little story with an adorable protag and friends, it plays a little like megaman in a ways although you have all the elements you need just about at the get go which I appreciate, especially with the visible effect to show you are doing more damage at that too dood. It's basic enough to play, you have your normal attack where you shoot magic out your wand, you have assists who do various things, usually attack at the cost of magic and new to part 2 you have cards, these you unlock after each level but they essentially let you use Treffy's (the protagonists) super attack that has a fun little animation to it and everything dood. The music is fun, especially the opening and the end credits, you get them for each episode and of course that's intentional as it's set up to be like an old school anime TV show in a lot of respects and it should be adored for that fact along with the fact it's just a fun game to play, changing elements is nice and easy too now that I remember to mention it dood. The game has a nice amount of goodies down to fun little dances you can do, to more assists and more cards at that too and a little surprise too after you beat the game, make sure to check your element menu after story mode dood ;) Okay now some personal suggestions for the dev, for starters I wanna say the progressive nature of the game is nice with what you've added to part 2 but there are some improvements you could add, for starters maybe making assists limited in use per episode and also maybe only two or three equipped at a time? I mainly say this because especially at the start when you don't know how to fight a boss you end up taking a lot of hits, in fact too many to not use our water spirit form, which is a shame because the assists are fun but don't get much show because of that, do note I also feel attack assists should do at least decent damage but should be limited to 1, buffs would be a fun one like faster movement or a temp barrier and of course heal should have at least a full health bars charge, this means the game will be difficult rather than too much of a breeze and add more versatility and fun to the assists where you want to use them dood. A maybe glittery sound effect or something for when the super move animation plays for the Kokoro clover and such would be a nice touch and maybe a little visual effect on the boss to show the attack existed in the first place after it goes off, I feel the charge speed is perfect for it though, enough to use once on the boss at least which is what you want, it's in Japanese so I'm not sure what the cards do or if they even have extra effects but that could be something to look into too, think of it as a free special effect/spell so maybe our water spirit friend as a card gives you a free 2 point heal? gnome gives you a 1 hit shield which considering you can switch between cards in gameplay would be great for if you are full health and doing great in the fight for an extra health point essentially dood. Enemies seem fine as are but I guess some could use some movement patterns like the bouncy looking ice cream thingies as they are just there to be shot XD which is fine honestly but almost feels cruel haha, honestly though? these are suggetions to possibly add on and improve an already fun game but you've done a stellar job so far, the feel, the music, the opening and ending credits and even the story, I can't wait for more myself dood. To finish I'd just like to say to anyone who's read this, if you like the look of it then get it, support this dev because it's nice to see such heart put into a game and if they keep adding and improving to it like this I think we are in for an amazing game series that anyone would be extra happy-smiles to see in their library, (you'll get the happy-smiles talk if you play the game lol) thank you for reading dood. ^-^7

Since both the first part and second part are separated I'll go ahead and do a review for it too. It'll pretty much be the same as it isn't too different from the first, although it isn't fully the same. Still lovely with the characters and having more of the true villains show themselves. Music is still great, the looks of everything is still great. The new mechanic is pretty interesting and they'll possibly work on it some more. More bosses which is nicer to see as just playing a bunch of regular stages. Still the same problems too, controls are different again, but this time it's different from the first game too and you can't chance them enough so it's still awkward at first. I feel like the final boss has two undodgable attacks, maybe I'm wrong on this, but dodging them is confusing.

NO REVIEWS?! Ok, let's remedy that pronto. The short version: Casual platformer featuring a “Sunday Morning Anime” style. Simple controls, simple story, catchy music, cute art. Now featuring greater length than its “Part 1”. It is essentially what follows immediately after Kokoro Cover Part 1. No noticeable flaws, except for the length, this is an Indie game made by a 3-4 person team, so they are taking their time. Ideal game for that afternoon when you don’t know what to play, or as palate cleanser after a more serious/meaty game like Monster Boy, Shantae, or Owlboy. English language (cutscene subtitles) are to come on a later patch. Still, recommended for those looking to practice Japanese, or with 3-4 hours to fill. The long: Gameplay – Has not changed from the previous Part 1, and I wasn’t expecting it to. In a nutshell: You shoot magic from your staff, jump, change element, call for a spirit’s help, do a spin attack/dodge, open the menu, and dance (for the heck of it, and there are several cute dances you can purchase at the Shop menu). Maybe we’ll se some new mechanic on later episodes/parts, but what we get is solid enough with little to no issue, though some moves have a slight ‘cooldown’ you have to learn to use properly. Other than that, solid. There was only one spot on one of the extra stages that basically locks you in place (an oversight, probably) which forces you to go to the menu and quit the stage to restart it, but otherwise, no real issue. There is more action in this game, with each “episode” having an action stage and a boss battle (with only the “Library Episode” having just the boss), plus more extra stages, and a longer boss rush. Definitely an improvement from the previous Part 1, where content is concerned. Story – Treffy’s journey to discover the mysteries of her compass and the Kokoro Clover has just started, but she must now rescue a trapped spirit, battle greedy pirates and jealous knights, discipline spoiled brats, and maybe even find her first crush; all in the way to meet the first of the four Great Spirits. This time, each episode will progress like a proper Sunday Morning Anime with its ‘intro’, break for commercials, ‘ending’ (complete with credits and the cast dancing “to the beat”) and its Weekly Special/”See You Next Week!” segment… as any Sunday Morning Anime should. Simple, cute, magical girl/adventure tale, the likes we probably watched when we were kids… on Sunday Mornings. Art – Gorgeous pixel art that really fits the theme to a T. Characters are expressive, enemies are colourful and varied, bosses look like proper “weekly villains”. There are not (yet) bigger particle effects to spice it up a bit more, but for a labor of love like this, it does the job as it should be. No complains here. Music – Bright, cheerful, catchy. Many themes are reused from Part 1 (why fix what ain’t broken, waste what works?), plus a few more themes for the new places you visit this time. Sound effects are nice, cute, non-intrusive; exactly what a cute game like this needs. Misc – Gone is the Story menu from the previous game, the one where you could access the individual parts from each episode, in favor of a more cohesive, simplistic menu where you chose your episode, and play the whole shebang from intro to outro. I like it this way, but maybe, way down the line when the series game reaches its completion, we will get a “cutscene only” and “action” only mode (Challenge mode could be converted into this without any problem whatsoever) aside from the good and proper Story mode we already have. That would be just perfect, and probably open possibilities for “time attacks”, speed runs and whatnot. Verdict – Game looks more fleshed out, and now it starts to truly capture the “feel” the devs are aiming for. It’s still a casual game you will finish in 4 hours tops, but is definitely coming along nicely. I’m honestly amazed by this labor of love, and are eagerly waiting for the next installment of our Sunday Morning Anime game. I don’t regret the need to purchase both parts separately, the prices of both combined is just above 10 Canadian dollars (‘bout 8 USD), so it is a no brainer buy, and I’m proud to do so to support Team Hikoteru so they can finish this cool game. Seriously, it feels like I’m buying the DVDs/BluRays of my favorite Anime (‘cause they contain only a few episodes per disc); kinda gives you the whole experience in a weirdly unexpected way. English speaking gamers may want to wait until the patch with the subtitles, but any one wanting to play it on the spot will have no issue, since what happens in the story is totally easy to understand, and if you know/are learning Japanese, this game is even more approachable. Just buy it and enjoy. I’ll just give it another go or two while I wait for the next installment, and keep my fingers crossed for the whole package some time down the road. Keep going, Team Hikoteru!!
