Just like EARTH'S DAWN before, LOST EPIC is mad addicting. Enough to make me 100% complete both games. oneoreight found the magic formula, and even improved upon it.
Grinding is often used like a curse word, but how does this sound: For every hour played, you get 1-2 new skills to experiment and find interesting synergies with, potentially changing your entire playstyle. New weapons you have access to (for gaining new skills) show exactly which enemies drop the required materials to craft them. Your journal keeps track of everything, so you can look up what you might've missed. And the game is generous with checkpoints in the form of statues (= bonfires, basically), which you can freely teleport between and pretty much always have enemies nearby that you might want materials from. Drop rates are pretty fair as well. So if you're good at keeping mental notes of where to find what you're looking for, it's a quick and fun loop that rewards you constantly.
LOST EPIC has some issues with the UI (esp. sorting items) and a bit of misleading info in the help section (esp. regarding stats, e.g. LUC doesn't increase crit rate but DEX does, while DEX doesn't directly raise ATK as stated but how well your weapon breaks armor). But the polish it lacks in minor areas, it more than makes up for with very non-restrictive battle mechanics that allow the player to discover many combos and nuances to fit their playstyle. At some points, things might seem out of balance, but all 3 (main) weapon types end up with a strong and diverse skill set that make them all worth learning and using to their fullest potential, esp. once you get into multi-weapon combos. Defensive options are solid as well, as you can parry, (auto-)block, counter-hit with certain skills, and dodge-roll (or even 8-way-dash if you use a special body) with generous iframes.
If I had to highlight something negative about LOST EPIC, it's that it ends up being a really easy game. Even NG+ cycles and the endgame bonus area can't keep up with a properly leveled player who figured it all out. So in order to add more replay value than it already has (beyond getting all 4 endings, fight all boss battles, complete your journal, maybe collect all usable bodies), you might need to make up your own challenges.
But damn, what a fun ride it was!
