This is based on an old Atari game. It was also on Window 3.1 but only the shareware version exists. Its good Iguess.

First impressions are good. The game starts very simply, but the complexity increases pretty quickly. The core of the game is a hex map, with little towns. Towns gain income by owning the hexes adjacent to them. This can be bumped up by building a tower in one of those, though this is not something you can do right away. You can build units, and they increase in strength as you combine them. They have an upkeep cost however, and you not only have to keep enough money to support them, but they are supported by the town that built them, so you have to keep a supply line open as well. All movement is turn based, so you have tine to think about things. The information you need seems to always be there, but I have trouble finding it some times. Still not sure how to find out how much money I have in the bank, only the income and upkeep. Is seems simply, but it gets a little bit complex pretty quickly, as the numbers you need to keep in your head goes up. I have yet to finish the first campaign, but I am about four levels in, and it is interesting. Certainly plan on diving back in to it. ADDENDUM: A few more hours in, and my enjoyment continues. The complexity does spike at one point, but it only took me four games to figure that out and get over the hump. If I were to be required a gripe, the turns are processed super fast, and I see no way to slow it down. As is it is often hard to understand what is going on. Another minor issue is that each level can be beaten with one, two or three stars, but those stars have no value that I cam see. I like to be able to spend them somehow. All in all though, still loads of fun.

Cannot recommend the game at this stage. It does not save your progress on exit. I tried in any way I could think of to make it work but it does not. Until devs come back with an update I do not recommend this game.

Fun and challenging. What seems like a simple basic strategy game gets satisfyingly complex pretty quickly without becoming overwhelming with too much going.
