Edit: I tried to give it another try, hoping the issue was with just one heroine. No, this issue is with every heroine. Every heroine has a randomly forced-in story that promotes arrogant and ignorant nationalism. In one story, saying "foreign food isn't worse than Chinese food" is seen as the villain of the story. The "villains" doesn't say foreign food are better, just not worse. To make it worse, it tries to insult the concept of "menuless" restaurants as some foreign concept ruining Chinese food. However, this concept is not a new foreign concept, it has been around for over a century in certain parts of China. What is with Chinese games and their obsessive need to bash foreign cultures/countries? It's incredibly hard to find a Chinese game that doesn't repeatedly bash foreign cultures and promote their own as superior. They often cherry pick the worse examples from foreign cultures while cherry picking the good parts of theirs. Office life is filled with this. It's not as common at first but increasingly becomes more common over-time. For example, the entire storyline of the Uncle is that he tries to immigrate but finds that western nations are filled with crime, unfair policies (to rich people), etc. This isn't a one time thing, many of the side stories are filled with similar trends and even the main story of some of the heroines are about one-upping foreign nations. If they were at least subtle about it, it would be more tolerable. Every nation has some degree of nationalism but modern Chinese games are by far the most unapologetically blunt about it. At least the games from other nations tries to show both sides, Chinese games don't even bother.
