This game is everything I want it to be with a couple asterisks*
1)The scenario based game-play works very well for me. I went in thinking that I would only want to play sandbox. I opened up a sandbox, started playing and got overwhelmed by how much there is to do and build. I played a scenario that was a 20-40 minutes game and it was a ton of fun. Turns out solving a light puzzle with trains was exactly what I wanted.
2) The game gives you a couple of options when you pull up a scenario. I've turned off time based scoring: I'm here for for trains, not time pressure. I also turned off ghosting: I want my trains to run into each other, it's part of the logistic problem that I want to solve.
TLDR: I recommend the game. Even if the game feels like it 'should' be played a certain way by default don't be afraid to play it your way.
