Great game, slightly slow in pacing but I love the details.

The game in between is already quite demanding if you've never played a video game design tycoon game before. But once you've looked up a few guides and understand the game a little better, it's extremely fun if you already enjoy this type of video game.

Just addicting to make up game franchises and see which ones become unstoppable monster series with a gazillion spinoffs.

Very fun game about making other games. Reminds me of Game Dev Tycoon but with a lot more depth and complexity to it. Challenging at first, but once you get the hang of it you will get a lot of fun out of it. Note that some important features are not explained in the tutorial so you will have to explore the various menus and sections of the game to find them. Very addictive and has that Civ or FM-esque "one more turn (game)" feeling to it. I recommend to download the realism mod to change the names and logos of developers to those of their real life counterparts. The only drawback I can think of is that while the game starts off challenging, it gets a bit too easy without any real goals to work towards in the late game. Once you've got a good income stream you can simply buy every competitor and gain 100% market share for your consoles which brings in a silly amount of money. After this point your only goal becomes "make money go up" which is fair in itself but I'd love for there to be more competition or challenge to the late game. Warning to achievement hunters that there's one achievement which requires you and 4 other friends to boot into a multiplayer lobby which makes 100%ing the game impractical for most. Overall a strong recommend and well worth the £12.59 sale price.

This game feels like a spiritual successor to Game Dev Tycoon to me. Having played both Game Dev Tycoon and MGT2 (but not MGT1) i find MGT2 to be probably my favorite out of the two. Achievements are fun to do... or atleast the ones i've been able to do so far (why , just why are 6 of the achievements on the hardest difficulty ) To give the game more of a proper review tho Sound? easy 8/10 (Really good but i would've loved like a few more songs and maybe a button to switch songs cause it would make it easier to become immersed in creating video games and their (optional) descriptions) Gameplay? easy 8/10 (Not stupidly easy, not too repetitive (if you don't do the same things over and over ofc). Solid gameplay that makes me want to make more games lol) Difficulty? 5/10 (This is more like my average score for the difficulty in the game. The harder the difficulty you choose yourself, the harder the game is ofc... but 5/10 is the average i'd put) Graphics? 8/10 (I am playing on a potato and this game has pretty good graphics on my end despite that fact. Very epic.) Final Score: 8/10 (Very fun game) Final notes: I made the most epic MMO that in just its basegame netted me 60 billion pure profit and then another like 40-60 bil from 13 addons and a few free updates. This was during my practice run on the easiest difficulty admittedly where i did the most tedious achievement in the game i know of, which is the achievement to play until 2050. I think MMOs should be kinda nerfed ngl (atleast on that difficulty)

Mad Games Tycoon 2 is a phenomenal tycoon game and the best one I have ever played. It immerses you into many aspects of game development and bissnuess management. I’m still min-maxing game genres and hunting for the perfect staff combo. The depth is insane without being overwhelming, and every decision actually feels like it matters. Highly recommend if you like management sims that let you build something from scratch and watch it grow.

Mad Games Tycoon 2, developed by Eggcode and available on Steam, is a deep and engaging management simulation that puts players in charge of building a video game empire from the ground up. Expanding on the original Mad Games Tycoon, this sequel refines nearly every aspect of the original formula while introducing new layers of complexity, customization, and strategy. Set in a fictionalized version of the video game industry, the game challenges players to grow a company through the decades, from the early era of pixelated consoles to the modern age of sprawling AAA titles and game streaming services. The blend of historical inspiration, flexible gameplay systems, and rewarding progression makes it one of the most comprehensive game development simulations available. At the heart of Mad Games Tycoon 2 is a robust development system that allows players to create video games in a wide range of genres, for various platforms, with customizable features, engines, and marketing strategies. You begin modestly, often in a garage or small studio, with limited staff and basic development tools. As you progress, you unlock more advanced game engines, development rooms, departments (like QA, motion capture, and sound design), and can eventually produce MMO games, self-publish, or even enter the hardware market. The level of customization is immense—everything from the game’s genre, target audience, graphical fidelity, and gameplay features to your development focus and monetization model can be tweaked. This variety leads to meaningful decisions that have a direct impact on your company’s performance and reputation. One of the game's standout elements is its modular building system. Unlike many tycoon games with static layouts, Mad Games Tycoon 2 allows players to build and design their offices room by room. You’ll plan out the size and location of development studios, staff lounges, research departments, production lines, and marketing offices, each with unique functions and space requirements. Efficiently organizing your workspace affects your employees' productivity, morale, and efficiency, adding a layer of logistical management to the core simulation. This system encourages creative planning and also gives the studio a personal, evolving feel as it expands from a single-room business to a corporate juggernaut. Employee management is another critical component. Staff have varied skills and specialties—programming, game design, graphics, music, and marketing—and selecting the right team for each task is essential. Hiring and training the right people, balancing workloads, and maintaining staff satisfaction are all necessary to keep your projects on time and your quality high. There's a satisfying loop of improving your studio, releasing better games, hiring better staff, and pushing into new markets. As the industry evolves, so too must your strategies, making each decade in the game feel distinct and challenging in new ways. The game also features a dynamic market environment with trends, competing developers, platform life cycles, and random events that can impact your business. Adapting to these changes is crucial. One year, first-person shooters might dominate the charts, only to be overtaken by RPGs or simulation games later. Licensing engines, securing exclusive deals with publishers or platforms, and acquiring smaller studios are viable strategies. You can also engage in aggressive marketing campaigns or shady tactics like sabotaging competitors—an unexpected but amusing addition that adds personality to the simulation. Despite its complexity, Mad Games Tycoon 2 remains accessible, thanks to a clean interface and clear feedback systems. While the game doesn’t hold your hand extensively, it does provide helpful indicators on what works and what doesn’t, allowing players to learn and iterate without feeling overwhelmed. That said, the sheer volume of systems can become overwhelming to newcomers, particularly during the mid-to-late game when you're juggling multiple departments, game genres, licenses, sequels, and expansions. However, for experienced tycoon players or those who enjoy micromanagement, this depth is exactly what makes the game so compelling. Visually, the game is functional rather than flashy. The isometric graphics are colorful and cartoonish, which works well for a game focused on internal mechanics over presentation. The animations and art style are charming enough to add personality, but they don’t distract from the main attraction: managing your studio and perfecting your releases. The music and sound design are similarly modest but effective, offering a chill, almost meditative atmosphere that supports long play sessions. It’s not a game that tries to impress with visuals, but its clean aesthetic supports its purpose well. One minor drawback is the lack of strong narrative or personality in your studio and employees. While the systems are engaging, the experience can occasionally feel a bit dry or mechanical, especially when compared to games that inject more character or story into the simulation. Additionally, while updates have continued to improve stability and depth, some players may encounter occasional bugs or balance issues, particularly with certain mechanics like review scores or AI competitors. Thankfully, the developers have maintained a strong post-launch support history, frequently releasing patches and engaging with the community to fine-tune the experience. In conclusion, Mad Games Tycoon 2 is a highly detailed and rewarding management sim that appeals strongly to players who love deep systems, business strategy, and game development. It succeeds not by simplifying its mechanics, but by giving players the tools and freedom to approach their empire however they choose. Whether you want to become a beloved indie developer or a ruthless corporate behemoth, the game supports multiple paths to success. While it may not be the most visually exciting tycoon game on the market, its depth, customization, and replayability make it a standout title in the genre and a must-play for fans of business sims and game development fantasies alike. Cool Management Game around developing games. Easy to learn but not as easy to do. The tutorial isn't THAT helpful but at least it shows a few basics. Soundtrack is fantastic, grafics sweet, controls smooth. For the sale prize you get a lot of gameplay with a few different modes, difficulties and much fun. I recommend it for that, not sure, if it is worth the full prize. But with so much content I guess it's fine as well.
