WOW! Now this is a good choices matter with branching paths visual novel style videogame! It doesn't bog you down with unnecessary gameplay nor any kind of fillers. It is 6 chapters total (credits roll after chapter 3, then credits roll again after chapter 6) of thrilling edge of your seat storytelling. If you like these types of games with stories that put you in control of the outcome, then you'll love this one. It even offers options to swap the voice acting for multiple other languages other than the default English. What a ride!

Fun game. Stumbled on this on Game Pass and then played it again on Steam. The art style is nice, I liked it and thought it was an interesting way to tell the story. The story itself is pretty engaging and it is fun to know that your choices are affecting the way events play out.

I played this game ages ago, but I think more people out there should know it's great. But beware, it's more like a visual novel with impactful decisions than a game (even less than quantic dream or life is strange or telltale games)

The story is amazing, the fact that your choices make a huge impact, helps immerse you into their world. The character development is great, you really feel strongly for/about each character. There is also an analyzing of your traits/character in game. Such as decisive, loyal etc. They have 2 "books" 3 chapters each. HOWEVER, it ends on a cliffhanger! AHH! There are a TON of us waiting (not so patiently) for word on another "book" or just a sequel. We are desperately hoping to hear the rest of the story, we may have to start a support group.

Good story game with a very strong "choices matter" aspect. My only criticism is that sometimes you don't want to pick any of the presented options. And I would have liked it more if the ending left you with all questions answered. But still an easy thumbs up.

I don't even know where to begin, the story is extremely compelling and is always keeping you invested. The fact that it's also multiplayer too, making it a really good party game for everyone to site back and enjoy the story with some pizza like it's some movie night.
IT'S A HIDDEN GEM

It's a pretty terrible movie where the plot is driven forward primarily by staggering incompetence of everyone involved. Even so, I found it a compelling experience with interesting and tough choices at times.
The thumbs down is entirely because there is no option to skip scenes and dialogue. If you want to explore the various branching paths you're going to be watching the same scenes over and over.

The game's story is well-constructed, but to be honest, many of the decisions don't lead to truly significant outcomes; the decision-making isn't very complex. The quick-time events (pressing or moving the controller stick in a certain way) feel completely unnecessary. Visually, the game looks great. Another important detail is that when you replay the game, you can't skip conversations or scenes, forcing you to watch everything again, which can be tedious. Also, if you choose the overwrite option and don't continue playing after taking the route you want, the second playthrough's progress is deleted, and the first option is maintained. I recommend the game for its plot.

Story First
• The branching story remains the heartbeat of the game, sprinkled throughout are some thoughtful choices, compelling arcs, and moral dilemmas.
QTEs & Accessibility
• The gameplay leans into simplicity, with light quick-time events (QTEs) that don't punish you for not being a reflex god.
• This design makes the game incredibly accessible, perfect for those who want to explore the narrative without the stress of complex mechanics or high-stakes failure.
• Even players new to games can jump in without feeling overwhelmed.
Art Style: Ambition Meets Aversion
• The game’s stylized, graphic-novel approach is certainly bold, but personally I did not like it.
• I found the art direction distracting and off-putting. The painterly still-frame animation, while unique, can create emotional distance instead of drawing you in.
• In a game so heavily reliant on tension and empathy, visuals that interrupt immersion became a noticeable hurdle for me.
Multiplayer dynamic
• Though I played solo, I can see that the multiplayer would make for an enjoyable experience.
Final Thoughts
If you're looking for a narrative-driven experience with low gameplay friction, As Dusk Falls delivers. However, its artistic risks might not resonate with every player. I found the story stood strong, but the visuals threatened to unravel the atmosphere. It’s a reminder that presentation matters just as much as plot, especially when trying to tell a deeply human story. Get this game when on sale and you shouldn’t be disappointed.

As Dusk Falls is not your typical action-packed, shoot-everything type of game. Instead, it resembles an intense TV show where you get to make the choices, and it’s fantastic.
The art style is unique. At first, I thought it looked a bit strange because it features a motion comic style with still images that move dramatically. However, it quickly grew on me. This style enhances the emotional depth of the story, making it feel more real. The characters are beautifully drawn, making you feel like you're watching real people struggle.
Now, let’s talk about the story—without spoilers. It begins with two families whose lives collide during a robbery gone wrong in a small town in Arizona. From that point, the narrative spirals into tough choices, secrets, and emotional moments. The exciting part? Every decision you make changes the outcome.
Overall, As Dusk Falls is a gripping, emotional, and truly unique game that’s perfect for anyone who loves story-driven experiences. It isn’t about flashy gameplay mechanics—it’s about making choices, living with the consequences, and witnessing a great story unfold. If you enjoy games like Life is Strange or The Walking Dead series, you'll definitely love this one.
