It was good, though a very anti-climatic ending if you play the game with logic and most of the character live. And there weren't enough chances in the story to shape it via character death or capture.

Got this on sale, not thinking much, but then i realized i found a HIDDEN GEM. Such a well written, immersive and emotional story, where every choice does actually matter, and makes you sit there and think or clutch your hands trying to choose something fast. Also the art style is wonderful :D

I was put off by the art style at first but the game is so good at pacing the story that by 15 minutes I was invested. The story is compelling and tight, the visuals are beautiful, characters are well thought out and you actually get to find a reason to actually root for them because the game is brilliant at telling each background story of the characters without having to sacrifice the pacing for it. If you're like me who was skeptical with the game because of the art style then don't, this is such a beautiful game with excellent story beats that you'll eventually forget about the motion comic art style.

Ever since I first played Detroit: Become Human, I've loved choices matter and story heavy games like this. I think that all of the characters are very compelling and interesting. The QTEs aren't too challenging either and you can extend the time for them in settings. Overall, very fun game to play and I look forward to replaying to unlock new endings.

One of the best storytelling game. I played it in one breath because of so incredible immersive plot, atmosphere and gameplay. It's one of those games for me that made me REALLY worry about the characters, will they make it or not, which will have good ending and which not. The game keeps the suspense until the end. Definitely recommended everyone to play.

Very much not what I was expecting, and loved it. The story was super tense and the choices really made me think carefully. It's pretty short and I enjoyed the story so much that I went back and played the last chapter several times to see all the endings, which I normally don't do.

I didn't expect to become so quickly used to the visual style or invested in the story, but that's a testament to how well made this experience is. It's all the anxiety of a telltale game without the useless slow-walking and item collection.

The good: there are a lot of meaningful choices that have consequences, and mostly there is no right answer. The QTE are handle well, there's enough time (and there's an option to extend it), and failing is just another branch. All the branches and more choices and consequences than in other similar games is what made me finish the game (but in hindsight I should have quit early in book 1). The art style is fine, but the animations (or lack of, there's just jumps between stills) is really bad. The controls are flimsy. The story in book one is really bad and book 2 is quite weak... And there's no ending... The game ends in a cliff-hanger making it all pointless...

Where is Book 3??? How can you release an unfinished game and then make absolutely no effort whatsoever to even let us know if another chapter is coming? It’s been YEARS with no word. Wtf? Can’t recommend an unfinished game
Interactive Tension or a Cinematic Slideshow?
If Heavy Rain and Life is Strange had a crime-thriller baby, As Dusk Falls would be the result. This narrative-driven game combines interactive drama with tough moral choices and a cinematic storytelling approach. But does it deliver an unforgettable experience, or does it feel like watching a slideshow with occasional button presses?
Story
A motel, a hostage situation, two families – and every decision can change the course of events. 🔹 Two timelines, one connected past – The story jumps between 1998 and 2012, showing how choices have lasting consequences. 🔹 Dramatic twists – Every choice can cost lives, ruin relationships, or lead to unexpected fates. 🔹 Realism over exaggeration – No sci-fi, no action heroes, just real people with flaws and struggles. Whether you rise as a hero, fall as a victim, or simply get caught in the chaos – that’s up to you.
Strengths and Weaknesses
✔️ Engaging story with real consequences – Every decision matters and feels meaningful. ✔️ Surprisingly deep characters – Even the "villains" have layers and motivations. ✔️ Co-op mode for shared decisions – Perfect for testing friendships. 😆 ✔️ Real-world themes – Family issues, trauma, crime – handled with maturity. ❌ Art style is divisive – The motionless comic book visuals take some getting used to. ❌ Minimal actual gameplay – If you dislike interactive films, this won’t change your mind. ❌ Some choices are just illusions – Not every decision truly reshapes the outcome.
Recommended / Not Recommended For
✔️ Fans of interactive dramas like Heavy Rain or Life is Strange. ✔️ Players who love deep storytelling and strong characters. ✔️ Perfect for groups or couples wanting to make choices together. ❌ If you want actual gameplay, look elsewhere. ❌ Not for fans of fast-paced action or reflex-based challenges. ❌ If you don’t want to be emotionally invested, stay away.
Achievements
Achievements are mostly tied to different choices, meaning multiple playthroughs are required to get them all. Some can only be unlocked by making the “wrong” decisions – perfectionists will suffer. 😅
My Opinion
As Dusk Falls isn’t for everyone, but if you love a gripping, character-driven drama, this game delivers. It’s more of an interactive film than a traditional game, but the emotional choices and narrative twists keep you hooked. Scientific estimation: My playtime was interrupted by heated debates over which decision to pick.
