I am bad at Bears In Space, but I'm having a good time regardless. Plumbing the levels for secrets and platforming around while shooting enemies is fun. The only issue I really run into is forgetting that I don't need to scroll the mouse wheel to select a new weapon, because that's the slower method. There are special sidequests to complete in every level that reward you with weapon upgrade money, some of which are as easy as pressing an obvious button, while others are platforming challenges, are hidden in the level somewhere, or require you to find an item in one place and bring it to another tucked-away location. Possibly a mix of those! They're fun to look for, but I have a habit of incorrectly guessing which way is "off the beaten path" (the way I'm trying to go) and which way will progress the story (what I'm trying to initially avoid)... Not that there is much of one. The "story" is just: You are a man-bear, you want to go to Earth. Also there's some kind of space bear war. It's the bearest bones needed to justify you running around blowing up robots, basically. Which means the jokes and the gameplay are the main draws here. And I've said the gunplay is fun, but what about the jokes? Uh... This game's sense of humor is not for me. The bit with Larry (or whatever the tube robot's name is) and the guy who challenges you to a race got a chuckle out of me, though, so it's not completely unfunny. I'm also glad the game's not reliant on referencing other sci-fi FPS games, aside from your bear partner's name being Beartana (BT). It's only downright annoyed me once so far with the Elevator Sim bit. (After sitting through that, it's no wonder to me why the achievement for completing it is sitting at 14% right now.) Hopefully that remains to be the case through the rest of my playthrough!

It’s a very frustrating game. They front load the first episode by throwing almost all the enemies you’ll encounter in the first mission throughout it and not spreading their introduction through the episode leading fights post that to just feel samey and just a mix match of the enemies you have been fighting. The only new one until episode 2 that is introduced is the saucer. The other issue with the first level is that is shows one of the issues that this game has that being that a level should end with either a boss, the honey or an arena not all 3 or even 2. another issue is while the checkpoint system for going for challenges or cards is nice, I often feel that the levels could’ve just been halved and not up to an hour and a half or more long. This would include halving the challenges between them. I also hate the amount of points of no return within the level, it makes me want to search all over before falling down and this is made worse on levels where a challenge requires you to go through it from the beginning and you can’t just start at a check point, I’d also set that 3rd checkpoint post kraken boss not right before, though as I already said I’d make the boss the level end. I often wanted the levels to end halfway into them. while I have laughed at many jokes I feel the worst ones are the ones that just waste my time, such as the elevator wait should’ve ended 20 floor before it does and the permit one was plain annoying. While I figured it would have an actual boss I personally feel if it ended with the punching bag it would’ve been funnier, or the boss gets crushed by the big bot after defeat and that is the real boss with no transition to fighting small punching bag and large bot, that it does 3 times in the actual fight. The first episode was fine but the quality starts to go down in the second episode. The second episode spreads the enemies out throughout better, but it feels like they didn’t really pay attention to the arenas and just threw enemies in without a care. I often felt more frustrated throughout this episode. I quit at the boss as I stopped fining the game any fun.

Bears in Space is out-of-this-world ridiculous and I loved every second of it. I spent hours paw-sitively blasting through zero gravity, wrestling with physics, and wondering how a bear even survives in a spacesuit without chewing on it. Every level had me floating, clawing, and launching into chaos, while enemies and obstacles got bear-ly a chance to survive my antics. The controls felt like a mix of “am I flying or falling?” and “why is my fur waving in space?”—but somehow that made every explosion and laser shot fur-bulous. By the end, I wasn’t just playing Bears in Space—I was grinning, growling, and utterly paw-sessed by the cosmic chaos, and I couldn’t stop laughing at the absurdity of it all.

Enjoyed it for the first few hours, but quickly felt like I had seen everything the game had to offer. The humour occasionally hits, but without feeling the "draw" of the gameplay, the constant interruptions and gags drove me to finally quit. Not a bad game by any means, but one that didn't resonate with me personally.

According to all known laws of nature, there is no way that a bear should be able to breathe in space. Its lungs are not meant do not pump air in and out. The bear, of course, is in space anyway. Because bears don't care what humans think is impossible.
