I liked the demo but the full game gets annoying quick, the jokes are funny for a bit but I saw most of them coming a mile away. There's a recurring pattern of wasting the players time while not giving much reward for it, you stand there watching the game tell you its long winded joke waiting for the punchline to arrive. The combat is ok, I played on hardest and it kept me from falling asleep but the story and jokes fell flat about an 3 hours in, since theres a much of those as theres combat its hard to recommend. Finding secrets is fun but there's a secret finder you can get for every level so whats the point. Another annoyance is some secrets ask you to come back to an area but sometimes not and you'll think you have to come back just to take 5 steps in the wrong direction and get locked out of the secret for the level by a summoned wall. Forcing you to redo the whole level, again more padding for your time which brings me into the weapons. Grinding kills with each weapon lets you upgrade them for free to a better version, I found this fun since most weapons are useful un-upgraded for the beginning of the game, later on the enemies scale well enough with the weapons. Upgraded weapons felt good. A couple weapons felt 100% gimmicky and weren't useful or fun to use, I think the kid rating of the game kinda limited creativity there. The games tries something new and reminded me a little of Supraland with more combat but the jokes and puzzles from Supraland carried the game whereas this felt lacking.

Super satisfying gameplay, part platformer part bullet hell shooter, an absolute gem of a game with character charm and chuckles for days. If this looked remotely like your thing, pick it up immediately.

Sticks to the roots of traditional Doom-like gaming elements with nothing more than your gun and the enemies. Game is full of intermittent dad jokes that are sometimes funny. For a studio's first work, this is a good game — when on discount. Personally, I liked the mini-games because that's what I expected when buying this sort of game. Negatives: Lacks any mechanic that promotes fast-paced gameplay; you can stand behind a corner & pop heads if you feel like. I also feel like there should've been a mechanic that incentivised players to not get hit, considering this is a first-person shooter bullet hell. I'm not sure if this game is replayable. Fun Fact: Gianni Matragrano is the voice actor for a lot of characters.

The level of charm this game establishes in the first 2 levels is amazing. its such an inspired by the greats game, you can feel all the platformer and boomer shooter inspiration from the first moments of the game, smooth firing mechanics, lovable castings, fun nods with references, with absolute buttery smooth gameplay thats been worked on for a delightfully long time 10/10.

A lot a fun. The humor is pretty good. Finding all the secrets and stuff is also pretty fun. Never felt bored along the way.

If you're into the antics of the original Ratchet and Clank games on the PS2, then this is the game for you. Would recommend for an unBEARably good time. Comedy is great, very slapstick, some high brow, caught myself on a few occasions being like "wayment" Combat is great, but predicable, also comparable to R&C. World evolves as you progress and doesn't get boring or stale. Bosses are creative, and even play into the comedy overall. I'm on my second play through to complete all the tasks. But I can't sit down and play it all in one go because life gets in the way. Easy enough to pick up where you left off without having to remember what you were doing, which is nice. Wish they'd work on a sequel.

I kinda went back and forth thinking this was the single most under-rated shooter I've ever played, and understanding why this game was never discovered. You might think the gameplay is meh but the writing is funny enough to carry the game through a short campaign. You couldn't be more wrong. The gameplay is GREAT, with my big issue being the sheer volume of useless guns that you constantly have to sift through to get to the 3 or 4 useful ones. Playing on a controller was brutal. There's a million secrets, many of them extremely high-effort skits and animation work, especially when compared to the bobble heads or codex entries in the new DOOM games. I found no less than 3 completely secret weapons, for example. The writing? Pretty fucking bad. In almost ten hours, I'd say there were 3 jokes that got a chuckle out of me, and I am not a tough critic. I will say that the lighthearted tone was enough for me in the beginning. Most of these throwback shooters go for a hyper violent and mature tone, while Bears In Space was content being rated PG at worst. It was downright bold and refreshing. If the gameplay wasn't so frantic I'd say this is a great shooter for kids to get into the genre. It's just too bad that it isn't actually ever funny, at least not for the audience with the eye-hand coordination to play it. Unless you think silly, high-pitched voices for fifteen hours is hilarious and not grating at all. And holy Hell is this game long. I think I'm just passed half-way through? And like I said: the writing is just not funny. And there is no actual plot. No development. No growth, change, or dynamics. It's just one-off joke after one-off joke with nothing tying it together. No characters, just caricatures. So what is there to keep me going? The gameplay is good, but not so good to make me want to trudge through much more. There's clearly some extremely talent people who made this game. I can't help but say that my overall experience was a positive one. I don't regret the time I put in it at all. But maybe this game isn't for me. Maybe it isn't for most people. I think this is an amazing game for someone and if you aren't already scared off, give it a chance.

According to all known laws of nature, there is no way that a bear should be able to breathe in space. Its lungs are not meant do not pump air in and out. The bear, of course, is in space anyway. Because bears don't care what humans think is impossible.

Bears in space was interesting, mainly because typically I am not huge into FPS games, I enjoy them but they aren't my favourite genre (if the lack of them in my reviews isn't a clue lol) but this is one I heavily enjoyed, the guns are silly yet unique with an equally unique upgrade system to it if not a little difficult to max them out granted, the game has some silly humour that I appreciate a bunch and there's a fair amount to find that always feels worth it, something I rarely ever feel in FPS games with collectables which says a lot, it's more than I can bear! But yeah good times game dood! The full review time! So the game follows a one day from retirement space farer called Maxwell Atoms! On his ship transporting a criminal bear known as Beartanna, things get a little crazy and suddenly it's team up time! And when I say crazy I do mean crazy dood. XD The game is obviously an FPS, ya got guns, a gun wheel to choose them from, a melee which is a big honking bear arm, a double jump and a dash, ya get quite a few guns at that, most with a meter that over time will fill and upgrade the gun for free! Either just making it more powerful or even adding a secondary shot type, it even gets a visual change too, not sure if that happens for every gun granted but it's definitely there for the ones I managed to upgrade dood. You have health and armour like you would in say a game like doom, health and armour is limited to what you find in the field or bought at the shop for the game currency along with weapons and ammo limit upgrades, they are pretty chill about some heals respawning over time based on the area and enemy types which is cool dood. The game is very humour based, it's a very slight issue but a lot of the jokes and funny moments are some of what's hidden in the game and some of them are reaaally well hidden! It made them feel worth it but there some even I couldn't find and that was with the secret radar you can buy each stage! Mainly because the game likes to lock you out of areas at times, it could have done with a checkpoint/save traveller option really but it makes what was a really fun game a little less fun having to search quite so hard for it all, even if they were typically well worth it dood. The game is extremely open to everyone, like insanely so, there are settings that allow you to take barely any damage but all your damage will nuke them or vice versa, they have bullet auto track which if you are on controller I suggest because there is no aim option, they even give you the option to respawn after death rather than starting from a save point, the games all about fun at your own leisure/pace and it's a genuine blast because of it, I stuck to normal myself dood. The music and areas are pretty fun for the setting, what's more the enemy types are shockingly varied for an FPS, heck the things you do including the references made are great! Possibly a little dated on a few so younger generations might not catch them but still fun times dood. And that's it really, I guess I could mention there may be alternative stages unless it's just the achievements didn't pop for some levels and there is one thing I almost forgot which it happened each time to the point I felt as though it was intentional but three stages had a mini-game at the end, very fun but basic retro looking thing, at the end it always says "Imminent crash" and then...the game crashes XD it saves after so no need to worry there but it was a bit scary each time dood. Thank ya'all for reading and if ya buy it I hope you all have a great time playing dood! ^-^
