It seems really rough, and depending on your settings for starting out the game can be EXTREMELY FAST PACE in a sort of whiplash kind of way. It's addicting though, really love this game. Kinda' surprised it hasn't gone on sale for less than 10 bux ever so if you see it at that price you should def grab it.

Saw this described as Diablo 2 in space, and this is exactly what it is... If you squint at a screenshot.
The ARPG elements are great. Cool skill trees. Good customization. A seemingly endless number on unlock-able races that you played with during your playthroughs.
The issue is... Everything is so highly randomly generated that absolutely nothing feels interesting or different. Ever.
Once you have played for an hour, you have seen everything you will ever see in this game.
There is no interesting area to go to, no points of interest at all.
You will just end up wandering aimlessly, killing whatever random crap is around you until you inevitably win a sector and then do it again but all the stats have scaled up to higher level.
Yes, ARPGs have randomly generated enemies and bosses... And they have static areas with interesting designs, little puzzles or events, and then big act bosses.
This game has all the systems of an ARPG with absolutely none of the charm or pay off. Its just the random grind from point A to point B, where in a game like Diablo the point A and B have a cool boss or some interesting area to explore.
Give me some bosses with mechanics. Put a health bar on the screen. Have some actual random events that affect the player (and not the anomalies that appear every 2 feet that randomly teleport you, kill you, or have a pack of mobs spawn)
The rarest quality of loot feels no more interesting than the most common quality.
Add some big bosses, have them drop unique loot items with interesting properties.
Have randomly placed static environments more interesting than quadrant of open empty space.
This is just Diablo 2 in an open empty field full of random trash packs with a starry sky background and none of the interesting parts.

It's an interesting game but I feel like once you've beaten a couple sectors you've kinda seen it all. Was really hoping for some cosmic horrors mixed in with all the starships and dogfighting but I haven't encountered anything scarier than a touhou-like bullet hell of missiles and energy projectiles.
