This game is insanely good. I haven't felt my heart race in a game this atmospheric since GTFO. Somewhat similarly to GTFO, this game tasks you and 3 others to run trials in and out of different scenarios. The world building, sounds, visuals, characters and enemies, and probably the most underrated, the voice chat (with it's modified sound depending on proximity and location) all form together an absolute adrenaline booster. The gameplay loop is rewarding, so much so that I had to bust out my Steam Deck last night right before bed and do one more trial. The performance on both PC and Deck are excellent - not once has my game crashed, hitched, stuttered, nothing. It's a shame that needs to be said, but I just wanted to give props to the devs for creating such a well-crafted psychological masterpiece with great performance to boot.

Outlast Trials delivers an intense co-op horror experience with stunning graphics, immersive gameplay, and a rewarding progression system. Unlike many horror games, it offers strategic stealth, fluid movement, and a variety of abilities and perks to customize your playstyle. Despite being more polished and engaging than Phasmophobia, it currently has only ~5,000 active players, while Phasmophobia sits at 16,000. This game deserves way more attention

Honest review 11/10 game. I've never had any issues with the difficulty options, ai enemies, players, or gameplay. Flawlessly made game with fresh content always on the way for you to play every few weeks. Base game comes with a free battlepass style catalog of customizing cosmetics and coins which let you buy the premium battlepasses that follow it every season. Ontop of this you wake up in a lobby with other players that contains mini games and voice chat to talk and play with others while waiting on trials or to form groups and play together. Additionally the game's extremely optimized while maintaining amazing graphics and consistency during gameplay. I'm able to max out everything and achieve 120+ frames while playing, even low end computers run it while looking very good on lowest settings. Genuinely a game worth the money I paid and worth telling people about, I've gotten a lot of my friends on it as it's that good! Also amazing jumpscares, shock, gore, and story!!! and please I think this game needs community made trials too!!! Aswell as an optional setting or flashback therapy based around proximity voice chat with monsters being able to hear loud talking or yelling among the players!!

I downloaded Trials a couple of days ago, and I can definitely say there have been huge graphic improvements compared to the previous Outlast games. Graphics: 10/10. The idea of having a lobby with other players is also a fantastic touch, 10/10!" game mechanics 7/10.

Classic Outlast stuff. This game feels like if you gathered fans of goregrind sexual deviants around a table, gave them a piece of paper and asked them to come up with stuff that'll make your stomach acid rise up. One fucked up game for fucked up people. (No, seriously I mean it.) Most definitely the game with the most disgusting imagery I have ever seen, and I've played Resident Evil 7. Red Barrels did not hold back one bit for this one...An incredibly fun, terrifying experience with friends that'll pervert your vision of humanity for a pretty long time.
The Outlast Trials: Where Therapy Means Running for Your Life
Welcome to The Outlast Trials, the game where you and your friends get to experience the joys of psychological torture, courtesy of the fine folks at Murkoff Corporation. It’s like a team-building exercise, but with more screaming and significantly less trust.
The Good

Terrifying Atmosphere: The game oozes dread and paranoia. Every shadow could be a lurking psychopath, and every distant scream is a reminder that you’re next. It’s like a haunted house, except the exit is just an illusion.
Co-op Chaos: Teamwork makes the dream work—unless that dream is a nightmarish death trap. Whether you’re heroically saving your squad or shamelessly using them as bait, the multiplayer experience is peak horror-comedy.
Unique Gameplay: The game constantly throws new horrors at you. Just when you start feeling competent, Murkoff pulls the rug out from under you and laughs.
Replayability: With randomized elements and multiple trials, every playthrough is a fresh opportunity to make the same dumb mistakes in slightly different ways.

The Bad

Stress Levels: If you weren’t anxious before, congratulations, you are now. Your fight-or-flight response will get a full workout.
Learning Curve: The game doesn’t explain much. You will suffer, you will fail, and then you will finally understand… right before failing again.
Toxicity: The player base ranges from supportive teammates to players who would sell your soul for a flashlight battery. Proceed with caution.
Time Commitment: Once a trial starts, there’s no turning back. Hope you don’t have real-life responsibilities, because Murkoff doesn’t care.

The Ugly

Your Team: No matter how prepared you are, you’re only as good as the one guy who insists on sprinting into danger like it’s a speedrun.
Your Ego: Think you’re good at horror games? The Outlast Trials will personally see to it that you are not.

Overall
The Outlast Trials is an intense and chaotic horror experience that’s as fun as it is traumatizing. It’s not for the faint of heart, nor for those with weak Wi-Fi. The steep learning curve and unpredictable teammates can be frustrating, but if you thrive on fear and teamwork (or betrayal), this game is for you. Just don’t be surprised if you start double-checking dark corners in your own house after playing.
“Final Rating: 8.5/10 – Would recommend, but only if you enjoy being stalked and psychologically dismantled.”

Playtime: “Enough to develop trust issues and an irrational fear of mannequins.” Play it here if you’re ready to question all your life choices.
Additional Notes

Spoiler: The scariest part isn’t the game. It’s your own panic-induced decision-making.

Pro Tip: If you hear a lullaby, it’s already too late.

Outlast Trials
By far the best horror experience ever, aswell as replayable, Feels kind of fucked up to adore a game such as Outlast Trials since I got PTSD in reality, but i certainly fell inlove with this game as soon as it came out, or was announced in the first place, truly a great horror experience, definetly worth it since it also allows you to replay and have new experiences with each and every trial in different ways even if you replay the same one, i definetly recommend it.
Outlast Trials is amazing specially for players that do not want the games to end. Even though I have PTSD myself, and specifically get flight or fight responses daily when it comes to sexual themes and or trauma related emotional triggers in general, the outlast trials actually has not been PTSD triggering to me in any way whatsoever. Which is really nice, not having to deal with! Outlast Trials does indeed have nudity, gore, horror, and your character does indeed get to endure horrifying trauma, but it is made in a way that you do not actually get affected badly by it in your real day to day life. Now it could be because it always lets you go back to your so called cell, in which you get to decorate and change your own apperance in aswell. But also you get to play minigames with friends aswell as strangers, it is also a great game because it does not require you to have friends in general, so if you are a loner or have social anxiety, you will be able to play solo and still finish all quests and have a great time. It is available to use their Quick Play feature which allows you to play in group with up to 4 players, which i personally think is great, since i do not have many friends in general. However it is a great way to make friends, since you also can play crossplatform if you have it enabled in your settings, but i think it is enabled as default, i think. People with hearingaids will also be able to play with special settings to avoid higher frequency sounds, there is also soo many settings in general, to make your gameplay, suit you specifically! Which feels great. They also have a report system in case of griefing players or other bad behaviour in game in general, there is an option to describe the person/persons in the report aswell, however I have never actually come across an actual hacker, so that is really calming. Since I have played several hours, I would say there is pretty much less than 1% chance that you would ever come across that. Thr game maps also changes every week, and I say maps because there is alot of them since the maps are more like game series, if you can call it that, it is based on different challanges, such as Genesis trials, Toxic shock trials, Project X, Count down, Project Ultra, and many more, which is pretty much a bunch of maps in each one, and or you can choose to play Escalation Trials which escalates after each game, it will let you play through countless maps nonstop until you die and aswell if you cannot revive yourself, on your own or with a team, however if you die but your team survives you will also live to continue in the upcoming game trial, aswell even if you were to finish your trauma treatment in game aka finish the story, you still get to continue to play with a new identity and you get to keep all your stuff aswell as all your progress, since it registers how many reagents you have released, you also get a new experience in each gameplay daily, since the killers looks and listens for you, aswell as the many choices of game modes which allos you to play the maps on different difficulties, which also grants you different type of rewards, so progressing in the neverending game in general is really fun and makes it much less stressful, so it would also be a game of choice for people who work irl daily, since you do not have a specific time limit, yet you have more than enough tasks in game to have a great time specially when you feel like playing, but do not want to be stressed out, you also have the option to exit the game if you are in a hurry, for an example, if you have been playing escalation trials and suddenly have to go in a hurry your progress will have saved so the rewards will still be given to you, this also means that if you were to be kicked or loose internet connection you will still get your rewards! Even though in all hours of gameplay in Outlast Trials I have still not had any issues with that whatsoever so thats a big plus!!! Aswell if you are in need of a critique, based on PTSD, The absolute worst trigger if you can call it that, would in that case possibly be Mother Gooseberrys human sex toy challange, however I personally have not had any straight down bad trigger of that, i can still see how it may cause mild uncomfort in real life by looking at it with an already broken mind, other than that you may feel mildly stressed depending how much you feel connected to your characters trauma and flight or fight response, when you are being chased or hiding, playing on psychosurgery mode specifically, but overall it is a great experience, for everyone including people with PTSD, and Complex PTSD, since that is what I have, you may get a better picture of what my thoughts aswell as my review is based on! Voice Chat is also available in game, but it is optional, you can also mute everyone, since i prefer playing without voicechat i can not comment too much on that, but the time i did have voice chat on, people seemed pretty kind in my opinion, however as said i do not play much on voicechat so do not go specifically based on what i say about that. If it is indeed an important factor for you. I gotta say Outlast Trials is the best horror game experience I have ever had and played through and I have played alot of games on other platforms including the 1st and 2nd Outlast game on xbox since before! I rate Outlast Trials 10 out of 10! By far the best game experience ever! Also feels great to still be able to play it continuesly without getting bored! Red Barrels and their buddies did great working on this game, I remember when it first was announced aswell as when it came out, I still see the game as very exciting aswell as scary and fun to play daily! I would say it is 100% worth it!
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⚠️Ps: I am not good with english grammar and yet I chose to write this in english, so excuse my bad grammar..

I was very hesitant to get this game at first because one of the best parts of the original games was being plunged into an environment where you were completely on your own with no way to defend yourself from the horrors that lurked just out of view. I waited a while to get it so I didn't have to pay full price because I fully expected it to let me down like Fallout 76 and Far Cry: New Dawn, but I'm completely satisfied with this game and the story it's telling. Yeah, vaulting over stuff still sucks, but I'm not a jumpy person, especially when it comes to horror stuff since I expect the scares, but this game forces you to lock in and the scares have made my whole body jolt on multiple occasions. If you can't handle graphic violence, nudity, graphic sexual content, or religious imagery, this is NOT THE GAME FOR YOU, but I love it so much and have enjoyed replaying Vindicate The Guilty.

As a longtime Outlast fan it took me a while but the game has finally grew a LOT on me. The concept, vibes and visuals of Outlast Trials are so cool. I love the artificial elements of the settings the brainwashing thing and the character design, the reagents clothing options are awesome and the enemy design and voicelines are incredible, shout out to Mother Gooseberry and her designers and voice actress, I absolutely love her and Dr Futterman. The other enemies and Prime Assets are also very fun and interesting, I hope we get more soon. So much care and personality was put into them, they all have cool little details! It's not completely lore focused but it has some pieces of lore and elements from the Outlast story, it takes place before the other two games and features figures like Murkoff, Dr Wernicke and possibly the Walrider. We also have information about the characters introduced in this game and they are very interesting by themselves. This is the most brutal Outlast game, I'm not sensitive to these things unless it's done with children and animals but it was the only game that managed to make me uncomfortable in some way at some moments, mainly because here you are the one causing harm to others and not the one suffering or watching without getting involved or just seeing the bodies without actually witnessing the moment the deaths occurred and the deaths are really brutal. There is a trial where you turn a guy into a sex doll, another in which you break a woman's arms and legs, hang her and then crush her head and one where you cut two men alive and hide drugs in the holes so yeah it's very metal. The multiplayer aspect and fast pacing gameplay with more ways to deffend yourself take most of the scare factor away and some characters are comically over the top. It intensifies the classic Outlast dark humor and I think that's perfect and really fitting for the game atmosphere. Nothing about this it's a problem. Still, it manages to make you tense and give you a few scary moments at times. Anyone who hasn't shit their pants after at least one interaction with a Big Grunt has internally died a long time ago, there is no soul left in this body. The game's progression is pretty cool, I like how you can upgrade your characters and equipments, the catalog (battle pass) system is fair as you can still buy previous passes with the exception of the Christmas catalog, so I assume this applies to all catalogs for holidays and the catalogs rewards are some of the best cosmetics. Being able to customize your sleep room is cute. The gameplay is fun but very repetitive if you play solo. It's kinda weird, didn't hit right for me at first, it felt like something was missing. In the few times at the beggining I tried playing with randoms I felt like I was doing nothing but being carried by more experienced players, It was not uncommon to find myself walking around the map for an hour without understanding what to do or finding the objective but after I got a better understanding of the game and upgrading my character and devices after finishing all the main trials and starting to play with randoms more oftenly it became a lot of fun. I've been laughing and having epic action moments that gave me goosebumps and the chaotic experience of playing in higher difficulties adds so much to Outlast Trials, it's kinda addictive even. I always want to play more. I still consider the time it takes before the real Fun beggin a problem. I bet a lot of people got bored of the game before this point and Outlast Trials was left with a bad taste in their perspective, that's why I don't feel like recommending the game to anyone who isn't an Outlast fan or have a very demanding and restricted taste in games. I suppose the best way to enjoy the early game is to play with friends who are also playing for the first time, that way you learn things together and stay at the same pace. However I noticed it's common for experienced players to let newer ones do the objectives and just guide them, at least I was lucky enough to be placed in the same match with a lot of people who let me enjoy the game so if you don't have a problem playing with strangers and be put in the same match as this type of player you'll have fun too. I disapprove the use of AI. Yes, it's just a few pictures and posters on some maps, I probably wouldn't have even noticed or would just find it suspicious it if I hadn't been warned about it but even the smallest use of AI is powerful enough to normalize it and cause harm to the world, society and art. It sucks even more because the art direction in this game is so cool :/ the aesthetics, character design, maps, everything looks so cool, why use AI at this point? You were almost there damn it. I feel a little betrayed and disappointed tbh. Outlast Trials needs a better matchmaking system. A list of joinable lobbies or a quick match option for every trial, it's so hard to find matches that at first I thought people didn't even play the game anymore, you always have to hope that people in the sleep room accept your invite or have friends who play frequently. Having to play solo because you didn't find anyone else to play with you is frustrating.

The Outlast Trials is a co-op survival horror where you are thrown into gloomy Cold War laboratories, forced to undergo brutal tests for freedom. Unlike previous parts, here you can (and should!) play with friends: the single player mode is more difficult, and the enemies are sometimes annoying - their attacks are sometimes easy to avoid, sometimes impossible to predict. The atmosphere is oppressive: an alarming soundtrack, flickering light and bloody locations plunge you into paranoia. Survival depends on stealth and luck - one mistake at the end of the mission crosses out 40 minutes of progress. The graphics are not revolutionary, but the detail pleases. Ideal for fans of the series and lovers of co-op, but it quickly becomes boring. It is worth playing for the adrenaline and an evening with friends, but it is unlikely to hook you for more than 100 hours.
