Fast note speed that can't be adjusted, otherwise good game now that it's free

A small rhythm game about a brother returning to his home town and reminiscing about his childhood. Overall game play is clean and music gives indie rock vibes. Recommended for vibers.

Kovox Pitch is a weird game, and honestly it's hard for me to think of who this game is actually made for. I probably put 10+ hours into the demo of this game when it was playable before the games release and I loved every minute of it. Now that the game is out I'm finding myself less interested than I was before release, as if I feel like something is missing. The design is all over the place with mechanics clashing a little bit in the later game, and a simple concept being complicated to the point where it's honestly made less fun over time. The game clearly isn't made for rhythm game beginners because it gets tough fast, and stays tough (up until the final 3 songs which are the easiest in the game for some reason). Yet it's also seemingly not for rhythm game veterans because it doesn't put up a meaty challenge in comparison to any of the more hardcore games in the genre. Not to mention little things, such as the song list resetting to the top in between every played song, make it really hard to want to grind out high scores in the different tracks... With all that being said you can really tell this game was made with love. The story is pretty bad, but the ending did pull on my heart strings just enough to make me think it was a good story overall.Meanwhile the music might be close to my favorite soundtrack in any rhythm game I've ever played, this foreign (russian?) alt rock really vibed with me all throughout, and will definitly be a list of songs I will track down and listen to even outside of playing the game, which is rare for me when it comes to rhythm games soundtracks. I still come away from this game not really sure who should play this, but if the soundtrack seems interesting to you, and you like the prospect of a medium challenge in comparison to other rhythm games, than this is the game for you. With some issues ironed out, the game polished up a little more, and the soundtrack expanded a bit, I'd consider it a must play for rhythm game fans.

This game is a short and sweet experience and would recommend it. The music is nice to listen and play along to and the song charting makes sense. The different gimics keep the game interesting and give you something new to learn while retaining the core gameplay aspects. The story is simple, short and sweet, it is not very complex but it doesn't need to be, and the whole thing made me smile. The voice acting is not the best but I think it gives the game a charm to it and giving out characters more character. Despite all this positivity there are a few small things i do not like and think could be improved. 1st thing being that at the end of every story mode song, there is an intrusive song that immediately cuts in afterwards, changing the mood and it does not give the song you were just playing enough room to finish. 2nd thing is i think that the different ball types should have more characteristics to tell them apart from eachother, and the switch ball (I don't know it's name but the one you use to switch lanes) could stick out a bit more as it usually blends with the background and is easily missed. But these things are just small complaints and don't really take away from the gameplay experience. As far as I can see this is the developers 2nd game and it is very polished for someone with not alot of game development experience, I would say it is worth the purchase if you want a wholesome short experience.

I tried the demo last year, it was fine and I expected to see more. Now it finally came out, the game is pretty fun to me. The soundtracks are amazing, and really fit the game's mood. I like it, though it still need to improve. I hope future updates would provide more different kinds of contents.

Great Music. Mediocre story. Intuitive level builder. What else to say? The story is average, but I didn't feel the need to skip. The gameplay is very smooth. Every note is synced perfectly to the beat. Kovox Pitch suffers from a difficulty spike where the endgame feels easier than the chapters before it however. The music found it's way onto my playlist, as all of the tracks are very enjoyable. Not only that, but diving into freeplay unveils many new songs tucked away that aren't seen in story mode. I hope a workshop will come soon as the custom level designing is really easy to get just right. My last criticism is that the game doesn't save scores. I am fine with not receiving a letter grade however you'll need a text file handy to track your scores across all of the songs as there's no way to see them. tldr; If you come for the story, you'll leave disappointed but if you come for the gameplay you will enjoy it, especially the bonus levels in free play. Pros: Good Music Fun Gameplay Many Levels Detailed Backgrounds Easy Level Designer Cons: Short Story Mode One Music Genre Difficulty Spikes No Workshop No Score Saving

ok i just beat the story, time to throw down my thoughts i really liked it, and i was really excited for this game, and im giving it a positive review, but im listing my cons in hopes theyll get fixed (at least the ones that can be fixed) -the story sucks, he just babbles about some nonsense about his roommate or the courtyard or his mom or you (???), and then he starts hitting baseballs in front of you, then you teleport somewhere new sometimes -----that being said, this does not actually matter at all, and i feel like any mistranslations or poor grammar were more charming than anything, the rhythm game clicking buttons part is great and thats all that matters -the story very weirdly paced in terms of difficulty, the whole thing was really easy for me but the first level felt like it would be hard for someone whos never played a rhythm game before, but then it stays at that level of difficulty for like an hour until it starts ramping up, then at the end it gets really easy again -this is personal preference obviously, but the songs are pretty bad.. the song from the trailer is good but the rest mostly just sound the same and not good -hitting stuff is very satisfying, which is why i bought this game in the first place, but i think there should be a hitsound for when you first hit a hold note too -the hitsound for changing lanes should be way louder -the screenshake was super annoying and by the end i was even feeling kinda motionsick, i couldnt find a way to turn it off -new mechanics are introduced waaaaay too slowly, it takes like an hour just to start using all the buttons -the default controls are just horrible, who wants to play like this??? -the free play mode is very barebones, no saving favorites or anything like that, its very raw. id also like the option to just set the stage to be random since it literally doesnt matter -its a little buggy, if you tab out in a weird way sometimes songs will just not play, but its really not that bad -i think the game is pretty expensive for what it is, $5 wouldve been a better price -WOW i forgot to mention, the way songs just cut off suddenly after the last note is super unsatisfying!! it should really do maybe a fade out, then it fades into the victory music, instead of just being a sudden cut -i would also really appreciate an easier way to download custom songs, maybe an in game song browser, or steam workshop, something might update later if i think of more stuff
