A wonderful experience, with a unique and interesting idea. [Joy: Truthful] (Eng and PT-BR review)
At first I found the game quite strange, then I started to understand what all the emotions shown on the mannequin were about and I knew I was facing a unique and brilliant idea for a game.
In short: due to an accident Patrick Truth lost the ability to express emotions but gained photographic memory, becoming a true human lie detector. With a strong desire to expose all people's lies, Patrick becomes a police consultant, evaluating and resolving the most diverse cases based on interrogations of the suspects and those involved. During these interrogations, the player must observe people's faces and correctly identify the emotions displayed and assess whether they are true or false and within the context of the testimonies to find out if they are lying. Associated with Patrick's great reasoning ability and deductions, the player will solve several cases while knowing more about the characters in the game and discovering some surprises involving Patrick's peculiar condition.

[*]The most innovative aspect of the game is due to the gameplay of identifying the emotions in the characters in real time during interrogations, this is only possible due to a thorough work of animating each speech of each character in the 2d sprites of their faces, something very fun . Along with the points system for combo hits, experience, levels, life points, achievments and in game rewards, the gameplay is really fun. Even so, if you don't want to do the gameplay, you can leave it on automatic or in easy mode.
[*]The game is quite different from a standard visual novel slice of life, there are some parts designed to tell the day-to-day life of the characters, but the focus is the cases. At each scene, the game tells interesting facts relevant to the themes of the game, such as indications of books, films and series; comments on scientific, psychological, medical, pharmacological, biological, historical, forensic terms etc. there will always be a topic to talk about, but if you are not interested in the topic, you can skip these parts (but I would not recommend it). The closest game I can name is Ace Attorney, yet Liar Trick is still quite different. It is also surprising how the theme of the game reflects the current state of the world in social relations.
[*]The art of the game is very good, the main characters have a very beautiful 2d live and the other characters have sprites rich in details. The backgrounds are photos with effects or scenarios assembled by computer, but everything is very well planned and charming, always with a very good harmony with the art of the game.
The game features a mixed look of jazz, criminal investigation and nostalgia in every bit of it. Even the navigation in the menus is something unique, which may not please everyone, but I found it very interesting. The music can pass the same energy, maybe the tracks are a little short, but nothing that affects the quality of the game.
[*]The translation have some typo problems, agreement and some strange sentences, missing words, but to be honest, there is nothing that affects the understanding of the game, I have seen games from big companies with worse translations, that is, it is a good translation. And if you find something strange in the translation, let the developer know on the Steam forum, the developer will certainly correct it, after all this game is the result of a lot of love and dedication.

This game has an interesting mechanic involving recognizing facial expressions and determining if they were truthful or not. This mechanic naturally ramps up in difficulty as the story advances. There are also sections where you tell specific lies for information and deduce what happened in cases. I loved the art/characters and the story was interesting. Some aspects did remind me of the Ace Attorney series, and the game even mentions it.
On the downside, while you are in game, there is no way to access options like music/sound effect volume. If you want to edit those settings, you would need to exit to the main menu which can be kind of inconvenient. The prologue unfortunately has a number of grammatical/spelling errors, but the frequency of these lessens as you progress through the main story. After completing the tutorial in the prologue, the main story gives you another tutorial but more in depth that I found a little tedious to go through twice.
Altogether, the prologue + main story can take ~10 hours depending on your reading speed/ability to solve the mysteries.
Regardless, I enjoyed my time playing and look forward to one day playing the sequel to find out where the story goes.

I have mixed feeling about the game, Its one of those game that I would group similar to Pheonix Wright, whether through its gameplay or perhaps thematically.
The game mainly concentrate on exposing lies in order to solve the case. There almost no investigative gameplay going on other than detecting facial feature or deduction on the whole narrative.
Though I applaud that the game wants to try something different, but different doesnt necessarily means fun.I do enjoy the characters and the story, but at the end it doesnt resolve all of the mysteries and sets up a sequel. If the sequel does come out one day, I hope the developer would find a way to implement better gameplay.
Even though I would Recommend this game to all the people who loves Pheonix Wright, unfortunately it does fall to to the very bottom of my list of "kinda similar games", as I felt games suchs as Aviary Attorney or Detective Grimoire are much better games.

A pretty good detective game that uses facial expressions as their main gameplay focus which is unique compared to other similar titles. It's very satisfying when you succesfully identify the faces and exposing the truth. A lot of the theories used in the game is well researched and a big kudos to the developer for this. The characters are also pretty likable from what I've experienced.
The English translation is not too good but definitely understandable and readable. But this issue is definitely understandable as the devs might not have enough resources to translate properly.
Overall I like the game a lot and definitely recommended for people who likes Detective games! Will also look forward for the developer future games!
