An addicting crossover between Peggle and Slay the Spire. Lots of fun with the addition of physics and luck at times.

The game is cute and fun but sometimes the mechanics aren't explained super well. Once you get some experience though you can build some very powerful decks

As someone who has now 100% this game, I can say this game will cause you immense pain if you try to do what I have done. Cruicball 20 is the worst crime ever inflicted upon humanity. I love this game 10/10 would recommend

This game has a charming concept but I just don't feel it man. The enemies being tied to the board makes the game very monotonous, especially considering how little board variations there are per area. By the late game areas i'm either too under-powered to defeat the beefy enemies or too over-powered to feel like my input on the ball even matters. If you're really into pachinko you might like this game, but otherwise I'd say to give it more time in the oven

Peglin is a blast of a deckbuilding roguelite for the first few completed runs, however once you start doing runs at higher Cruciball difficulties, the cracks really start to show. The game does not give you the ability to adequately gain strength to a degree that can contend with the rapid difficulty spikes of Act 2 and 3. I have over 70 hours at the time of writing and not once have gotten lucky enough to pass Cruciball 10.
Because of this, combined with a distinct lack of meaningful meta progression, means that the fun build variety you'd usually get out of roguelikes does not actually exist. A lot of "upgrades" (often received from fighting bosses) come with downsides that far outweigh the positives they could ever give you.
A lot of pegboard layouts focus far more on the theme of the encounter than actual play-ability. There are many where a single bad Refresh peg spawn can end entire runs and others that practically require specific balls or upgrades to even contend with, resulting in very unsatisfying deaths.
For the price, it isn't worth it. If the devs ever show interest in levelling the playing field then I'd consider picking it up, but until then save your money for a game that respects your time investment and allows you to interact with the tools it has on offer in fun and impactful ways.

A silly yet fun game I find enjoyable enough to recommend when on sale. Although it's your typical rogue like game with possible replayability, there's a feeling of reliance on luck as you progress into the harder prestige, "Cruciball", stages which at times can feel turned against you. Even with this in mind I feel like it's a nice game to do a couple of runs in every so often.

I wish there was a neutral rating I could give this game.
It's a simple and fun little game. It tends to be my go-to when I want something I can do that doesn't require active brain power and it doesn't have any sort of timer for anything. I like to idle-y play it while yapping or watching something. It's like a rouge-like version of Peggle, and I feel like they could do more with the concept.
The game isn't "difficult" per say, but it isn't really that rewarding, either. After you defeat a normal encounter stage, you don't really get a reward. You get an option to *buy* rewards. You can buy a heal, buy a new orbs out of 3 randomly picked ones, or buy an upgrade for one of your current orbs. You can get free relics after beating an elite or boss encounter, and there's some events in the "?" rooms where you can get free relics or items/upgrades, but most normal encounters just.. don't feel worth completing. You fight enemies, and your reward is the option to purchase your "reward"?
There isn't a lot of build variety. Some orbs and relics do different things, but the gameplay is almost always the same. You could *try* to go for a unique build, like a Ballwark (this game's shields) or a Spinfection (this game's poison) build, but the relics and orbs that even give that effect is so few and far between, and the ones you do have don't offer a lot. Which also sucks because 2 of the unlockable characters in the game are locked behind these effects (one by ending a battle with 100 Ballwark and one by having 50 Spinfection on an enemy). It feels like you need an absolutely perfect run to even *hope* to unlock these characters, or even use the effects to begin with. There's so many different niches of effects that orbs can offer you, but most of them don't really have a good synergy with one another and you just end up with either a collection of orbs that do nothing to work together and just clog your loadout, or you end up with only like 4 or 6 orbs because you're trying to go for a specific build and there just.. *isn't* the orbs or relics available to make just that build feasible.
It feels almost like the game is too basic for it's own good, but it's trying to be a more difficult rouge-like and it makes it hard for someone who just wants to play it casually to play it for longer than a run every once and awhile. It has potential, and it has the charm, but at this current point it's just so plain and boring. For a $20 game, I would expect having more to bite and chew on.
I'd pick this game up if it was on a decent sale, but I can't justify recommending it at full price. Not in this current state.
