I consider myself a big FE fan and that is one of the reasons why I have decided to pick this game up. I have also played different games based on SPRG Studio engine before so I have comparison to other, both free and paid, games of this genre, and also being familiar with the GUI, lack of translation to English did not scare me that much. I would like to recommend this game for the following reasons: + Game aesthetics ... and I do not only mean art of female protagonists but given the limitations of the engine devs did a really good job - artwork, sprites and maps are eye pleasing, made with attention to detail e.g. white clouds float on the map but when villages burn it is dark smoke instead. little things like that. + Uniqueness ...yes you probably expect another FE like clone with nothing new to offer but as myself you may be positively surprised - game has some features which I have not seen in any previous titles I played which make it, what I consider, a unique experience - lead characters are commanders and at the beginning of the battle, depending how many command points they have (increased throughout the gameplay) they can recruit their retinue of elite units (independently moving green units). These units follow their commanders during the battle but you also have option to give them order to attack and engage enemy units. This makes battles with circa 100 units on the field less tedious and introduces an interesting value to the equation. Enemy squads have commanders and if they die you can see a "running man" icon which corresponds to their morale loss. Things like attack markers which you can use on enemy units... I am sure I still have not discovered many features due to language barrier. +Low price point ...no comments needed. If you are into this type of games you will probably think that you got your money's worth. 2 hour play-test should give you the idea. Negatives (not so much but the changes I would like to see): - Lack of English language support = language barrier (cannot really appreciate the story or the game lore, I know that there is separate chapter within menu which describes the whole fantasy setting); only applicable if you do not read Chinese; - Difficulty and game balance ... easy difficulty is literally like walk in the park - you can run in the middle of enemy horde and will not get punished. commanders one-shot majority of enemy units and "boss" units hardly present a challenge and your green units will often finish them off before you get a chance to even put a scratch on them... The other thing is indestructible weapons of some commanding units - you tend to accumulate a lot of gold but do not tend to spend it much on weapons as there is no need (or perhaps I do not see it because I am thick). I mostly purchased healing staffs as the cleric commander (Irnet?) has only 5 charges on her distance healing staff. I like careful resource management to be a thing in these games. I did not see this aspect change much on normal difficulty, however the gameplay on normal difficulty is generally a much better experience, like it is intended to be played. You can lose units and effectively battle if you switch your brain off. What surprised me again is that not only enemy hero commanders have higher HP, they also heal themselves a little bit each turn. It is like battling multiple bosses on each map which forces you to play smart. Unless you gang up to finish them off in one turn, they will make you lose troops or land a crit on one of your heros and you will see Game Over. Update after finishing game: My final score is 6/10. This game has a great potential to be a terrific tactical srpg but it has somewhat been wasted. I did not expect Vestaria Saga's level but there are definitely balancing issues.Your commanders gain so much experience (without boosting their stats with academy training) that final missions feel like a breeze. Most terrifying bosses like dragons, demons with over 100HP did 1-4 dmg to my "powerpuff girls" commanders which is laughable at least. Their adjutants felt almost like a waste of space as you could brute force your way through the whole map with commanders. The only thing adjutants were good at were finish off fleeing troops. Also I knew that the adult content has been removed from steam version (not the reason I bought the game) but leaving "heart" option in spending your time in academy which I am guessing led you to removed content could have been replaced with FE-like bonds between characters as now seems do to nothing. First half of the game (5-6 chapters) on normal difficulty were a blast to play, the end disappointed me with lack of balance. It was easy mode all over again with no sense of danger from which should be overwhelming hordes of infernal creatures. I still recommend the game, it was enjoyable experience, but I would advise to issue a patch with balanced unit growth or even overhaul and in English lingo.
