this is my personal review for Banzai Escape II (B.E;2)
(TL;DR will be at the bottom for anyone just wanting to recommendation MAINLY.)
I love the characters, they weren't over-the-top, and everything was... overwhelming.. but the reward was worth it, MAINLY for the plot.
to be brief and short (soldier named Rokiahi from previous game; failed mission, got KO'd, stranded somewhere, goal so far- return to HQ.
the characters i loved more than anything in the game now is Inchester (frog merchant), Imingter (Barney if short anime fox girl) and last and sure not least, Iekler (bunny Kliener if science team became anime bunny girl)
the only gripes were having to restart the game for potential softlocks (i.e jammer arc mainly, and escorting sarah the main scientist/creator of the petite clone girl trio to safety; which you can just reboot the game for her evacuation arc. ), and just poor upgrading guns, and use of upgrading said guns in Banzai Escape 2 (B.E:2)
I was crying about the final boss being a dogfight, but overtime I accepted my flaw at this part, and manage to beat it. (weeb's honor.)
anyways if you just want the TL;DR, short answer is Yes. go for it.
(also i hope you like clinging to your friends, because it's highly recommended they 'DO NOT DIE' in certain areas of the game, you'll wish otherwise... enjoy!)

We completely played through the first level and had a complete blast! Picked this game on a whim while browsing through the new and trending section and wow what a pick.
The gameplay is solid enough on it's own, but my god the voice acting is a 10/10. If anything please for the love of god pick this game up and just try it. You will love it and have a good time.

PS Pick Benci, he's the best
Good, good
Overall, I would say the game is quite fun to play and is entertaining. Is it worth its price? Maybe it's a bit too expensive in my opinion.
The story of the game picks up from the last game and it's nice to see Benci in this game too. It's fun playing the campaign.
The ability to upgrade your character and their weapons is also something that I like. Game progression is reliant on upgrading cause the enemies' health increase drastically.
One of my favourite parts of the game is the boss fight. It's built like a bullet-hell game, and it feels like I'm playing Touhou but in 3D. However, there doesn't seem to be music accompanying this level.
As for the game's problems. Keeping your partner alive can be sometimes difficult in certain situations, Benci died so many times by not taking cover and just staying in the open. So maybe the AI for your partner is a bit of a klutz...
Navigating the area can be confusing too without waypoints pointing where to go. It leaves you searching like a Resident Evil game, which I think doesn't suit the narrative.
I hope to see the other PASKAL soldiers make their appearance, here's to Rohani, Naluri, and Nurani making their appearances soon.
Here's what you do:
This is a direct sequel to the first Banzai Escape in terms of story and characters. However, the gameplay is very different. This is a 3rd person shooter with some exploration and light puzzle elements. Each level is directly connected to the next, so there is no mission select, you just walk/run from one area to the next.
What I like:
+ You can play as either Rokiahi or Benci in this one. Both characters play exactly the same, it's just a choice of avatar.
+ The other character you don't pick will be your partner and follow you around everywhere and fight with you.
+ Enemies drop money, ammo, a gun, and Nanosys. Money and Nanosys are used to buy new weapons and upgrade them, such as increasing damage and ammo capacity. Nanosys can also be used to heal yourself or your partner when your health is low.
+ Hidden mini frog toys are hidden throughout the game. Finding and shooting each of them is necessary to unlock one of the weapons in the shop.
+ New game plus (Start++) allows you to carry over your weapons and upgrades and increases enemies' health and damage output and it scales up each time you beat the game.
+ Mod support allows you to change the appearance of Rokiahi and Benci, although there are no pre-made costumes supplied in-game to change between like there were in the first game.
What I don't like:
- The game runs a bit rough and is not optimized for a smooth frame rate. Expect some stuttering now and then as enemies load in to certain areas.
- I find the "cute" shopkeeper's dialog very cringy as she talks like a hardcore weeb. Rokiahi's voice acting is also pretty bad in general.
- I played through the game twice and didn't even upgrade half of my arsenal. There is little to do differently from one playthrough to the next, so this game supports a lot of grinding.
- The final boss fight puts you in a situation where you don't use any of your built-up arsenal. So grinding is pointless for the final boss.
- I would argue the hardest to obtain weapons in the game are not at all valuable because they require their own unique ammo which is not dropped by enemies, so you'll have to resupply at shops often to use them. Just below those weapons in rank are probably the best weapons because they can be reloaded easily from defeated enemy drops.
Conclusion:
By changing from the on-rails cover shooting of the first game to the open 3D adventure 3rd person shooting of this game, combat has become comparatively more dumb as you just run around shooting and healing yourself, but I like the free exploration and more varied interactions outside of combat. This game is also much longer than the first at about ten hours to beat instead of two.

It's rather hard to explain what makes this game good. For comparison, if you liked the particular kind of quality that Deadly Premonition had, then this is quite similar. Banzai Escape 2 is quite entertaining, though not always on purpose.
It does have low and high points, but the moment-to-moment gameplay is just as enjoyable as its higher-budget peers. I don't regret buying this at full price, but if you prefer a more polished experience then you might want to wait for a sale.

It's not as polished as the newer BE2: Subterranean but Inchester and Imingter make this worthwhile. The devs knew what they were doing when they based Subterranean on the sisters. They're the best part of the series.
The final boss is one of the worst designed bosses I've ever seen in my life, though. She has 3 phases with the first being BS, the second being Omega BS and the third being Ultima BS 9000... Save yourself the headache and just give yourself infinite health via Cheat Engine.
Since you're going to be using Cheat Engine, anyway, you might also want to give yourself a little extra money and nanosys, otherwise it's a bit grindy. Other than those few things, though, it's fine.

This game could have been good, but there's just too many problems with it.
Every gun feels like an airsoft gun where you have to lead your shots even at close range, and even while aiming, the guns still feel really inaccurate. You pretty much have to get headshots or you end up wasting bullets.
There's almost no weapon variety. the shotguns don't even do more damage close range or fall off in damage, the sniper rifle does less damage than a single shot of an LMG, and grenades are practically useless given how long they take to detonate. You pretty much need to use the newest available weapon or you're just gimping yourself.
The AI is kind of mediocre at best. The worst is when enemies that look identical have different health pools. Also, when a new kind of enemy appears, their weapon just seems to force you to heal immediately. You can basically just outheal any sort of damage you come across because you replenish can health instantly and since every enemy drops the health kit, you are almost never in any real danger aside from your dumb AI partner.
The bosses in this game
are extremely tanky vehicles that force you to feed them your entire ammo reserve (or use an rocket launcher that I havent been able to find) You just have to chase them down and pray your heal button works
The movement in this game is very clunky. There's a roll that tries to also be a jump and doesn't actually help maneuvering. The aiming button is stuck on toggle and you can't change it. There are several ledges in this game that you simply cannot hop on to or down from. The game forces you to go the loooong way around most of the time. There's also a lot of invisible walls that prevent you from taking shortcuts.
The AI partner is literally the biggest liability in this game. If you leave them alone, they can get stuck somewhere, shot up, and then die. You constantly need to babysit them and make sure they are behind cover. Sadly, you have almost no agency over where your AI partner goes and have to make sure they follow you enough to be safe.
The mission's puzzles are probably the only passable part of this game, but sadly there are very few and are padded by very long walking sections and confusing objectives. There's a lot of interactable objects in this game, but sadly its very hard to tell which ones are interactive without exploring every nook and cranny. There are these almost unbearably long elevator rides to and from missions and it essentially kills any motivation to do them all.
There is mod support, which I'll commend it for. Sadly, very few people bother to have uploaded anything to the workshop and is probably only worth swapping the the hideous player models (sorry)
Unfortunately, the entire game effectively boils down to extremely long walking sequences, bullet sponge enemies, and clunky controls. Playing through most of the game felt like a chore and became pretty repetitive. There's plenty of other shooters that will feel better to play than this. If the game was just more polished and smoother to play, I would reccomend it.

Since I am Malaysian, i am biased to play the game made from Malaysia. It makes me proud.
Game is good and i mean it. I know the graphics and glitch make this game not worth the money,
BUT hey, give the dev a chance. It is not easy to make a game, i know it because i'm speaking from an experience.
For Malaysian out there sees this game, i recommended buying it.
