Playtime: 125 minutes
All right so! Positives! -Price: I got this on sale at what would equal $4.66 -Story: The story was pretty good with unexpected twists. -Art: Absolutely gorgeous artwork. -Length: I much prefer short games. Although I don't mind a long game, I find it difficult to get back into if I break the immersion by taking a break. -Mechanics: Easy to understand mechanics -Models: The bosses' models looked amazing! Even the weapons, butterflies, watch, everything was simply gorgeous! Now, the negatives... -Models: Although the bosses' models looked amazing, the characters you actually interact with seem a lot more...polygonal (?). I get that this is a one man show, but I gotta review it how it is. -Pacing: The game is short, which I like! However, the pacing was just way too fast for the story. I wouldn't have minded one or two more scenes of interacting with the Chosen Hero before my character was all like "I will die for her!!!". It just seemed a bit rushed. -Error: Although the developer, Mr. Jiang, had posted a solution on the updates, I shouldn't have to go through that just to start the game. Just update it with the folders already edited. -Gameplay: Although I praised the mechanics as simple, it's a little...too...simple. It gets to a point where it's just wave your arms around. At one point, I found myself just waving my wrist to spam slashes. It did pick up a bit with the bow, but still pretty awkward at times. -Potential: I feel like this game could've been so much more! As someone who finished the game in one sitting (or standing), I never got to use the Flying Pocket Watch. I would've loved it if it was somehow a part of the actual story. Maybe if you were already in the Time Palace, you could touch the butterfly, making it go into the watch, which can then be used to go to the event! All in all, for a game of this price, really well made. I could tell this was a passion project, and I loved it. Although a bit repetitive and sometimes vague in its mechanics (I'm talking about the boss mechanics...), I loved when I got the relief of finally killing it (here I'm talking about that damn dragon). I would rate this at 3.2 Stars out of 5. Although I loved it, I can't in good conscience rate it higher just on the fact that it was cheap. For the price, I'd give it a 4.4 Stars, but as a game in general, I'd have to stick with the 3.2 Stars. Final Rating: 3.2 Stars out of 5 Stars. Recommendation: Would recommend for someone who wants a quick entertaining story for a good price. Me: Very happy to have killed that fucking dragon.
