!!!!!!!!!!!!!READ BEFORE BUYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros:
The game has a nice art style and decent music.
Cons:
The combat system is absolutely nothing like Sekiro, despite the devs claiming it as their inspiration. What you get instead is a dull clicking simulator with zero depth or feedback.
Level design is a mess. You'll spend way too much time wandering around aimlessly, with zero direction or intuitive flow. There is no guidance whatsoever — just trial and error.
The UI is frustrating. Quest info is splattered all over your screen during gameplay and completely breaks immersion. It's a cluttered, chaotic mess.
Animations are bad. The character often slides around like a feather or a piece of cheap plastic, with no weight or polish whatsoever. Feels like an early alpha.
It genuinely feels like the devs simply lack the hard skills and experience to execute their vision. They ignore core issues, roll out updates that introduce even more bugs, and fail to improve the parts of the game that desperately need attention.
NOW THE MOST IMPORTANT PART:
And the community? Easily one of the most toxic I’ve ever encountered.
I joined their Discord server to provide constructive feedback (which, by the way, the devs openly asked for). I gave detailed, respectful input on the UI, combat system, and bugs — even included proof to back it up.
What happened next was absolutely insane:
I was immediately attacked by emotionally unstable fanboys. Almost everyone responded with passive-aggressive remarks, trying to gaslight me into thinking I was the problem — not the broken game.
And then it got worse. One of them messaged me directly saying:
"You are nobody, you are a c*nt, we don’t need you here."
Seriously? That’s the fanbase this game has built and dev studio wants to have?
Even the devs weren’t much better — the qa and community moderator acted passive-aggressive whenever I asked valid questions about the game’s future or current state.
So unless you enjoy cult-like toxic positivity and blind praise for mediocrity, do NOT join that Discord.
Right now, Kristala is a toxic brand. I really tried to like it, but I can’t anymore. The dev team lacks skill and surrounds itself with a defensive echo chamber of immature, toxic kids.
I do NOT recommend buying this game.
You're just setting yourself up for disappointment.

When it works, it's great, but it's definitely not a finished game. I don't mind paying for my copy now even if it still feels like beta testing. I am excited about this game and will keep it downloaded on my PC. However, I couldn't play long as it currently is, so I will be looking forward to trying again once some patches start coming through and I will eventually update my review recommendation accordingly. <3

Hiyas! To keep this short and sweet, this game is rather fantastic! It definitely has its flaws, as do so many other games, but it's a really fun romp. I've written a very in depth review over in the steam discussions, if you would like to know more. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1206410/discussions/0/516332888607755012/

Its a fun game, only problem is that it needs some optimization and maybe more customization options. I noticed it looks a little grainy and sometimes when you change graphics setting foliage, mountains and npc/pm bodies except heads disappear

Hi all. Great mix of combat, easy spellcasting, and a beautifully spooky/eerie world. Playing as a kitty with mystical powers is just as awesome as it sounds. It’s early access, but the foundation is solid and the devs are clearly passionate. Definitely keeping an eye on this one. Kristala blew me away. I am so excited for the full release.

Impressive indie game! Combat effects are visercal with many different ways to slay. Whether you prefer sneaky acrobat with claws or classic sword-n-board, this is a good cat fight. I especially like the dynamic difficulty option and no fall damage (cause cat). Great game to add to your cat-alog! (get it, cause cat)

I heard about this project through a friend and decided to check it out while it's still in early access. I'd say that I'm a medium fan of Souls-likes... I love the thrill that comes with inching my way forward through each life but get frustrated when the game is so difficult that I find myself stuck in an area. With that being said, I think they've found a good in-between that's been highly enjoyable so far and I look forward to seeing it get developed!!!
First off I have to shout out the aesthetic stylings of the game (from the 3d modeling to the voice acting) because it's so tight already! There is a whimsical yet eerie vibe that has me wanting to explore. Furthermore, my favorite mechanics have been sneak attacks (it's sooooo satisfying dropping down on enemies) and plowing through groups with my ice magic. I can already envision myself replaying with a different loadout and how that'd affect the game lol
There are minor bugs which the developers are upfront about and they have a bug reporter built in to the game while it's in early access. I am playing on Steam Deck and have noticed slighly long loading speeds but honestly haven't encountered major bugs at this point. I think my biggest feedback is that I wish I had access to a map of the already explored area, maybe even if it was something aquirable throughout playing (à la Hollow Knight)?
Again, I can't wait to see how the world of Kristala further cultivates under the developers' care!
