It's probably a good game if you're using a controller but if you want to play with mouse and keyboard look elsewhere - the controls are insane and can't be changed.

No basic way to set the key bindings... this is basically mandatory for PC gamers.

The writing in the game is pretty chill and funny, the mechanics are very standard but capturing the monsters is a bit annoying with the whole food system. Also the gem equipment system is rather boring and grindy making you feel like you need the double or triple down on a certain stat gem to put your creatures up to par with the game.

Wow this game actually surprised me! I have played the first Nexomon and have invested 24 hours into it and It was an ok game (Yes I know it was a mobile port). But this game, Oh my gosh it finally scratched that itch! For years I've been trying to find that one Pokemon clone game that would make me feel like I was reliving my child hood of when I played Pokemon Silver, Gold and Crystal which were the only version of those games I loved. For the little I've played, Nexomon Extinction has already got me hooked with its great story line, humor (I love you Coco! <3), soundtrack and graphic enhancements (Animation and attention to details). The UI actually feels and looks good! The combat is rewarding! and unlike the first game this one is challenging! Using food to make catching Nexomon easier is a cool concept! (Not needed but helps!) I love how you can continue to gather ores you've previously mined for extra loot as they respawn in time and you can re-challenge the same NPC's to battles to not only earn extra money but to keep the game exciting! Not to mention there are quests which is awesome! This feels like a SNES version of pokemon and I am extremely happy I purchased it when I did! My only regret was not trying this game sooner! I can see myself investing a lot of time with this game! Highly recommend to those who enjoy creature collecting games!

An excellent sequel! Loved the story more than the first one, the battles were also a lot more interesting.

Absolutely amazing game. The meta-humor is fun, the characters are interesting, I like the monster design, and the battle mechanics are incredibly fun.

Solid Pokemon-like game, with a surprisingly nice story. Writing is not revolutionary, and breaks the 4th wall a bit often at the start for my taste (it does it less often afterwards), but there are a lot of twists and turns that are definitely unexpected coming from this type of games. Design of the nexomons is nice. Combat is very easy but its fine. Overall had a good and fun time.

A Pokémon-like game with around 400 different "Nexomons" to collect, with an unique, complex, yet interesting storyline. Great game. Similar to Pokemon, players start by choosing their first Nexomon. I usually go for fire types, but when I saw that the fire-type was foxlike and the water-type was birdlike, I opted for water, thinking I might need a Nexomon with flying or sailing skills to progress like in Pokemon games. It turns out that the only essential item for progression is a shovel for collecting ore, which is provided right at the start of the game. Nexomons are ranked from common to legendary. I’m not sure if some are generated by AI because managing over 400 types can’t be easy, I capture one that looks very much like Appa the flying bison from Avatar. To be honest, the design of most Nexomons is simple, though still distinctive, I find Pokemon designs are more appealing. The Nexomon I picked at the start was Extremely Rare tank, I encountered it several times during gaemplay, and captured a few others of the same rank. Most extremely rare Nexomons evolve into three forms or resemble small dragons. The legendary ones are large dragons, which I only captured in costume Game+. While they’re also collectable if you keep playing after completing the game, but costume Game+ is the easiest way to catch them. Capturing Nexomons works similarly to Pokemon, by tossing special food or using a specific ball for a better chance. The story is engaging and full of twists, making for a great adventure. After all, who would collect hundreds of unknown monsters if there wasn’t a solid storyline behind it? The game’s premise is that dragons are powerful, good and hunt down tyrants, who are equally strong but evil and threat to humanity. In your journey, dragons lose control and begin attacking people, so you join a guild, rank up, uncover how your character is involved. The missions in the game are easy to follow, map is not too big and you can fast travel between cities, with a clear mission log providing directions and a photoshoot to help you find location. The humor in the game is one of the reasons I kept playing. The conversations are sharp, and I love how the game minimizes lengthy introductions and keeps the conversations to the point. I’m really looking forward to future games from this dev. My only complaint is that the game doesn't provide the strength and weakness info. While it’s basic knowledge that fire beats plant, water beats fire, elect beats water etc, it is trial and error dealing with other types like ghost and psych. I recommend this game, especially for players who enjoy monster-collecting games. My curator page

This game has a lot of qualities. It gives you a bunch of ''Nexomons'' to catch. It has a cosmic mechanic, nexomons will have a color variant. (These are hard to catch. You can make it more in your favor depending on your progress through the game). The game is pretty easy going and relax at the begining of the game. As you progress however the story will get serious. (Though it will still have humor.) The title screen looks good and 100% the game doesn't require that much grinding. It has cool CG's.The music fits the tense moments. A custom mode is also available and i saw a lot of options. The game gives you plenty of golden nexotraps as you do quests. These have a 100% chance to capture a nexomon. I've only ever used 2-3. You can also choose to buy specific type traps which increase your odd of capturing a nexomon of said type. The game also has a feeding mechanic for wild nexomons feeding them will thus allow you to increase your odds of capture. You can actually complete your nexomon entries. The game has items that you can collect to make your journey more bareable such as a spray to keep nexomons away. (It's unlimited so if you're stuck in a cave with your team low hp you can escape using it) Or shoes that guarantee your escape in battles. A few of the complaints i hear. 1 The ennemies become stronger as you progress. Which means that if you spend too much time doing main quests and not training you might become underleveled. 2 The game doesn't tell you what weakness a type has. So you have to discover it for yourself The types in game are : Fire,water,grass,electricity,mineral/ground,ghost and psychic. You can search their weakness in and out of the game. 3 You can't rebind your keys, which yes can be a problem for certain people but you can easily learn it. A problem i have with the game is that an ability will tell you ''Increases attack and defence by 15%'' But it won't show you the numbers increasing. So you just have to assume it works.

Great and cozy creature collector game. Though the gameplay is simplified, the story makes up for it. The mons have kinda same stats so it's easy to build team, but less variety. Core system is good and can be expanded if there's gonna be 3rd game. Mons design is also good, can easily distinguished between elements. The story is great, with some plot twists here and there kinda hook me. Also there's kinda moral questioning plot, would be good if there's multiple ending maybe. Overall nice game if you like monster collecting genre, or just cozy turn based RPG game.
