Can't change key config. Why is this still happening in games in this modern age?

Miss miss miss. Fix that and i will play this game. Not refunding just because it was a penny and i appreciate the devs efforts.

The first cutscene involuntarily tells you everything about the game you never wanted to know: Fanservice pan over the female protagonist with her complaining "They took all my implants away" And I can't help myself but think "There are two implants staring at me which they clearly missed" Then the "set puberty to 200%" waifu robotically sits up and mechanically stalks across the room while you get to admire the "But mom! She's not naked, just wearing paint-on armor!" assets and bad animations. So far you only have to survive the shame of knowing the developer secretly wants you find a way to control mouse and keyboard with a single hand. Then you get to the first gameplay elements and it goes down down down. Everything is explained by 8-page tutorial messages out of context: You have to memorize the tutorial, close it and then try to apply your newfound wisdom without the option to check the tutorial again. "What a putz! How hard can it be?!?" Well, hard enough to make an experienced player die once in the tutorial mission, and give up on figuring out how the crafting system works (since I thought "8 pages of tutorial?! How hard can it be?!?" and closed that without reading it. I came for the tactical combat, I was looking forward to a bit of fanservice, I expected stupid systems and a hairebrained halfbaked story. I didn't even make it an hour into the game, it's that painfully horrible

The game immerses you in a world of mystery and intrigue, the game's story is intriguing and keeps you guessing until the end. The graphics are simple but effective, with a clean, minimalist aesthetic that perfectly fits the game's atmosphere. The sound design is also noteworthy, with a haunting soundtrack that adds to the game's eerie atmosphere. In short, I recommend "The Protagonist: EX1" to anyone looking for a challenging and engaging puzzle game with a well-written story. It is perfect? no, but it's a good indie title for the price paid.

The graphics are good for an indie title and the gameplay is smooth and responsive. The story is engaging and the characters are well-developed. I especially enjoyed the variety of weapons and crafting options at your disposal. If you like the genre, give it a try.

The graphics are pretty good, smooth gameplay, and the story kept me engaged. The controls are easy to learn. I enjoyed the first hours of this game, I will surely try to finish it.

A potentially great game, with lots of love put into its system, which makes the fact of it being abandoned so much more frustrating. I got into another soft lock that will not allow me to progress and can't seemingly be fixed by reloading, so I am giving it up. Don't play this game if you are not into huge disappointments, it starts out great, makes you love it, then cuts it when you have just started enjoying.

This is very nearly a very good game. It has all of the foundations of an excellent squad-based, turn-based game of tactical strategy on the level of X-COM and the like. The mechanics are different enough to feel fresh and interesting enough to make me want to play with different builds. The sound design is good, the voice actors are capable, and the environments are solid. The problem is that, after playing for a few hours, I don't like any of the characters. I could overlook the unappealing character aesthetics and animations, but I can't overlook the general unpleasantness in the writing for everyone involved. And while the gameplay has all of the right foundations, it's clunky enough in execution that it can't quite get me over the hurdle of the weak writing for the characters I'm taking from room to room. This is very nearly a very good game. But it's missing just a few key bits of the narrative strength or gameplay polish to get it to being good in general, and that's a big problem.
