One of the best murder mystery deduction stories I've had the pleasure to experience. An expansive island with a strange and intriguing story involving allegiances between humans and gods, its ruling Council cruelly wiped out in the middle of the night. Clues, testimonies and phantoms of the past that help you put the facts together into your final truth. A Judge, awaiting for you to give green light to the trials that will establish the truth once and for all. Because, yes, you and only you are responsible of starting the final trial whenever you feel you have all the pieces of the puzzle.
I keep thinking about Paradise Killer to this day; about its mystery, about its worldbuilding, about its characters, about all the districts and buildings I visited during my investigation. An outstanding experience overall.

I stumbled on this game, bought it on sale, and ended up falling in love with it. It's not everyone's kind of game, heck, it usually isn't mine but I loved it.
Part mystery, part VN, part exploration/collectathon. I loved it from beginning to end. Writing is solid, music is great, and the graphics, artstyle, and visuals are amazing.
Honestly a solid 9/10 or 10/10.

An amazing mystery game about investigating a mass murder in an "imaginary-galactic-world/planet," building relationships, and deciding your own final outcome.
I wouldn't call it a detective game, as the busywork is done for you. The game is about going everywhere and collecting hints for cases while also talking to people for clues and facts. This is done with your pocket notebook automatically pinning the clues to the relative cases or suspects. You collect your thoughts and figure out what happened by yourself.
But at the end, in the final trial, you basically sit there while getting a summary of what happened, which you could figure out by yourself. The choice of accusation is yours; if you want to convict your friends or deem it unnecessary and focus on the greater evil.
You build the next Paradise with your choices.
The characters are all great and varied; you genuinely start to care about some of them. The game has a "hang out" option to simply get to know them better.
They can also start trusting you and provide more clues.
I also like that the voice actors have been chosen from various cultures, giving some a unique accent matching their character while being perfectly understandable in English.
I also have no issues with the text and translations; everything is understandable and cohesive.
The art direction and overall setting draw you into it. The first impression may be bizarre, but you get more and more curious if you spend the time reading about the lore, the Gods, why Paradise exists and its functions, how the Citizens lived and were treated, the past of the Syndicate and the Council, etc. For such a small setting, it is very expansive and thoughtful.
Music is varied and pleasant, very classic club-like music and slower jazz or blues tracks to accompany you through the game.
There are a plethora of side collectibles for you to go around. Collecting them is not a hassle, since you can get an optional upgrade to double-jump or to mark every such collectible on your screen.
But I have to mention one negative when it comes to this. The movement in the game is heavily flawed due to one technical aspect. You have no air control. Once you leave the ground, you are at the mercy of your momentum and the direction where you're going. Some collectibles require precision platforming, which can become infuriating when you have to be at the perfect speed and judge the distance beforehand, or you will miss the target.
The game is cheap, and on sale it is even cheaper, and it is a great opportunity for everyone who wants to experience a great setting with an interesting story to follow and a unique cast of characters to talk to. Just keep in mind this is mainly a visual novel but in 3D.
And the goat lady with massive tits on display? Yes, you can sleep with her in game. I'm not a furry, but I would too.

Vaporwave: The Game.
Great music (extremely fitting for the atmosphere), great murder mystery story, but treat the game as a visual novel.
unfortunately you cant interact with the open world enough even though its very visually appealing.

This game is fits the word 'Esoteric' so hard im surpised its not a subtitle or something along with the main title.
It's so dumb, its so crazy, its somehow a very compelling platformer???
everytime i thought i had it all figured out I'd do one thing or say one word and suddenly i got a whole new thing to try and figure out
yea, i could easily spend another few hours on this game and get the last 10 achivements and 100 percent it but...I don't think I will, I think im god leaving it as is.
What felt like me bumbling in the dark for so long wound up with me somehow getting one of the better if not the best ending possible short of completionst hootenay if any exsists. Apart of me wants a sequel, to see what debauchery and sin happens on 25, but another part of me thinks this is lighting in a bottle and should be kept as is, which is a shame because i feel like so much good can be done with this world...but my mind can't think up of anything that could match what was in front of me?
is it a perfect game? god no, some of the platforming was borderline half life esque and i found it a bit frustarting i couldn't bring up certain topics with certain npcs (though in hindsight it was probably for the best) but god this has me started on a kick of looking at investigative games as a whole
this has entered a tier of games alongside skyrim, mass effect, dragon age and a few others, of games i wish i could experience fresh ALL over again
if anything these people make are as half as good, it'll be solid, but something tells me they'll make it better and better!

If you like detective and mystery games that are genuinely difficult to guess the perp in the first 50% of the game, then this is well worth the money and time. While the story is interesting and well written, the star of the show is really the overall aesthetic and ambiance of the game. Not to mention the music, which is like a little earworm that continues to whisper sweet, sweet vaporwave nothings into my brain at all hours of the day. I genuinely could not wait to get back to my laptop to finish this game, get different endings, and get every achievement possible, simply because I liked exploring the world so much.
All that said, I grew up on the Nancy Drew mystery games, so I adore the "search every nook and cranny for irrelevant items" vibe that this game has. The story is wonderful, and all the characters are flawed with unreliable narration and memories. The sheer audacity of the main cast becomes normal; even their extremely horrific and genocidal MO of creating and maintaining the islands at the expense of mortals begins to feel like it's not that big of a deal. This is solely based on the way that the characters continue to convince themselves, and you as Lady Love Dies, that this is just the way that it is, has been, and always will be.

I started this not knowing what really to expect and I ended up fully completing the game in one session. I did not get all of the collectibles but I did find all the clues. What an absolute banger of a game!

While it's hard to forgive a game receiving a substantial, feature-packed update that somehow DOESN'T address the frequent spelling and grammar mistakes that have been present in the script since launch, this is still a stellar visual novel and investigation game. Full of character (and characters), and letting the player take a much more hands-on approach to exploration and investigation than is typical of the genre, this is a real treat. Rich in mythology, interesting dilemmas and sexy drama, it only slightly falls down in the final act where things somehow become both much more complicated and thoroughly simplified. The slightly weak plotting isnt enough to ruin the experience, though. A gem.
