Worse than a crap game is a promising game which turns out to be crap
The game is a runner with "rpg" elements in that you collect coins you use to better your character
The only thing you can actively do in every level is chose when to jump.
You have a "stamina bar" which decreases by hits and jumps, meaning your success will be decided by your knowlege of the level and the economization of your jumps. Oh, btw, this knowlege of the game may not be so usefull as you may think, because contrary to what you coul expect, some movil enemies keep moving even if you havent started to run yet, which means, they will be in a different place depending on when you decided to start running, so what you end up with is a runner game changed into a puzzle by giving you a stamina limit, but some pieces of the puzzle are not consistent so it ends up becoming a trial and error game which can easily become a memory game as annoying as requiring to counting the seconds before you start running
The story so far is al most nonexistant, you are given a begining and a motivation and an hour of gamplay later you havent heard anything about it.
Theres a clever aspect to this game. You start as a very impotent thing and through discovering an buying things, your perception of the game changes..... this aspect is completely wasted by not integrating it to any kind of story progression or character development
In short... not worth you dime at all. I will try to refund it.

I liked this game its fun and short and I did enjoy upgrading my character and watching him develop.
Although as I got towards the end of the game around world 9 there were some levels where I had a full set out hearts and I would fail or struggle to make it to the end. Then in world 10 all the levels were fine.
I think the difficulty should progress in a more even way as some levels were harder than others in earlier worlds

No your sound system isn't broken, you simply don't have ears yet!
From the creator of One Screen Platformer comes One Finger Platformer - I mean, Return of the Zombie King. It's a rather addictive autoscrolling platformer with roguelite RPG elements in which you'll need twitch reflexes to collect as many coins as possible to help grow The King back to his former glory.
The game's quite fun for what it is, though I'll admit there were levels that took me quite a few tries and that seemed like a bit of a roadblock until I collected more coins to upgrade my energy. Also I'm glad there was an option to turn off the screen flashes because they gave me a bit of a headache to be honest.
Bottom line: quite a fun game. It's pretty cool to see your character growing and the art is pretty as well. Considering the price I'd say definitely give this a try!
Also: this game is a big step-up from the dev's previous game. It's bigger, longer, prettier, harder, better, faster, stronger. I'm excited to see what the next One _____ Platformer will be!

What a sad game. Unplayable because of some "randomized" bullshit with scaming newsletter. A F2P tactict on a paid game.

I should had review this game sooner to be honest.. The developer has put too much effort into it and deserves recognition.
The opening is interesting..
At first it seems very simplistic and empty but this is an illusion.. You'll soon come to realize the game has A LOT of stuff to do. It will keep you entertained for hours and chances are you might even restart the game just to power up again. No experience is the same as they are indeed random generated but NOT in "boxes"; that means that it's not like it has a preset of many areas and puzzles together 3-4-5 of those for a run. It's more detailed and complicated.
The controlling is smooth and responsive. If you fail, it's on you :P
Given time you'll become better and stronger.
Maybe even the dev might come to say hi ;)
The achievements aren't very easy or very difficult but, in my opinion, they help in giving you more reasons to try something new in the game. I like this approach and it isn't annoying.
I already had many hours of fun with it and I will have a lot more as the game won't let you leave so easily.. You'll want to revisit. So yes, I recommend this game "with my eyes closed" - pun intended ;)

A fun little game with a rather "mobile" feel based on the control scheme. A bit of farming, a bit of progression, and an interesting game mechanic that starts at the very first stage. Read the story on the store page, your game isn't broken if it doesn't look or sound right, it's all part of the fun.
There are sections where I had to replay a level many times to earn enough gold, or had to learn how to pass it by changing strategy. The levels make you think, and once you gain some abilities, going back to earlier levels gives the game some replay-ability. The on-screen tips are important.
Enemies are varied enough to force you to learn their patterns, and timed well enough to scream at your controller every time you fall into a pit.
I do wish the "upgrade" levels could be skipped after the first use, as they don't provide any new information or gameplay, And I'd like to get back to the map and menu system without having to start a level, which may be a bug, may be based on differences between a true mobile platform and PC.
Overall a fun game with a twist. And the developer is dedicated to making it the best experience he can.

This is a one button game and appears to be a steam port of a mobile game. Even though it costs money to play on steam, there are some levels locked behind signing up to the developers mail list and what not, which seems pretty scummy.
The game itself if pretty grindy at times for no real reason, has almost no story (there seems to be some story missing) and the levels are re-used frequently. All in all, it's pretty low effort. You can sink some time into this because it's not a bad game, but I don't really think it's worth spending time on

Return Of The Zombie King is a trash mobile game that is ported to PC for no reason. You only use spacebar to jump, that's all. This is a platformer game where you can't control your speed or stop your character. Buying back your body parts idea sounded cool so I wanted to try this. Only 5 or 6 upgrades are body parts and rest of them are useless garbage upgrades. Oh, by the way you need spend sh*t ton of money to get these useless upgrades. First 2 worlds was fun to play after that it became too repetitive and too grindy. Any sane person would stop playing after the 3rd world. Looking at the achievement unlock rate, most of the people stopped playing, good for them. Since I'm a mentally deranged person, I continued playing. Let me tell you, Borderlands and Diablo requires less grinding than this piece of dog t*rd. Also, levels are procedurally generated, it means they suck a**! There are floating enemies, floating spikes, level names appear behind the level geometry and you can't see it. Don't expect any of this stuff to be fixed because this game is abandonware. Because of it's random bullsh*t you can get stuck some parts in levels and game instantly kills you. Let me tell you how you get new upgrades in this game. You open a chest and get the upgrade, but you can't use it right away. You have to buy it from the store to use it. What kind of idiotic design choice is this!
You know, there are games like Earn To Die & DLC Quest that requires some grinding. Those games are fun to play and with a little bit of grinding you can easily unlock everything. In this donkey sh*t however, you either play a level at least 100 times or you can't get new upgrades. Thanks for wasting my time Return Of The Zombie King!

The basic premise for the game sounded amusing. However, I ended up being disappointed with the design. The upgrades system was terrible! All of the upgrade are locked at the beginning of the game and are each unlocked at certain points along the way. Needless to day most of the game involved simply taking a health upgrade, only to fall into a pit repeatedly because the double jump will not be unlocked for another 20 levels...

Return Of The Zombie King is a satisfying 2D runner with simple controls and gameplay mechanics that make you feel like you're making progress on every run. Your goal is to collect coins, die, upgrade and repeat to make your way back to your kingdom and retake your throne. I finished my first run in 7.1 hours to give you an estimate of the game's length. It may be slightly more or less for others, depending on their skill level.
If you're an achievment hunter, you may be tempted to not buy ears or eyes to get all the achievements in one run. I'd advise you not to do this! The levels (particularly the pixel art backgrounds) are so beautiful that I somewhat wish there was a photo mode, so you really don't want to miss out of that! I'd recommend a second playthrough after finishing the game for the first time, so that you can really appreciate the beauty of it on your first run.
This game is made by Return To Adventure Mountain, aka Chris Zukowski - the creator of other games, including 1 Screen Platformer. As I pointed out in my review of that game, the amount of effort and love that goes into these games is heartwarming and inspiring. There is a genuine and raw passion at the core of all his games and his community, if you don't believe me, visit Chris' website and read the 'about me' section. Something I love about all of Chris' games is that they're so straightforward with no clickbait, you get everything you're promised and there's no exaggeration to draw you in, just simple and enjoyable experiences!
Based on my personal experience, there are a few improvements that could be made to tidy up the game:

An option to skip the coin count at the end of each level. After over 100 times, I found it frustrating to have to wait for coins and kills to be counted before being able to access the shop / next level.

Add a coin counter whilst in the level, so that you can see how many coins you're getting in that particular run. Not necessarily useful as it tells you at the end but some players may like to see it.

Create a better way for the levels to end. I found it strange to complete a level only for my character to continue running into a wall or a pit of spikes on the other side of the sign.
All the changes mentioned above are simply small features but I think they'd go a long way to ensure a more fluid game experience.
With all of that said I would definitely recommend this game, especially if you enjoy simple controls, pixel art, the developer's other games, or any combination of those. I bought this game on sale but would happily support Return To Adventure Mountain and the wider team in any way so that they can continue to create these amazing games.
