The turn based tactical system is excellent, you need to fully engage with the tools and mechanics to win convincingly. The story is delivered superbly as a fully voice acted visual novel alongside the missions (Japanese audio with subtitles). My only gripe is that the details of some mechanics (such as stealth) are not explained clearly, but you can make saves to test out how things work easily enough.

Buy it for story, not gameplay. Gameplay is fine, it have some cool moments, but only for few people will find it enjoyable.

I really like this game and I'm sad that the marketing for this game is bad, but there are some issues with this game. In general the game is a very hard SRPG, mostly in a good way.
The good
Items and AP: Instead of having one action per turn you can do multiple depending on your AP. The game also gives you a ton of items such as grenades, placements (turrets, barricades) and traps to place around the map. The items are highly effective and make combat missions dynamic and very fun. Diverse Missions: A lot of missions play very different from one an other and need different ways to beat them. From standard A to B fights to 3 way fights where you are the weaker force. Difficulty (non-stealth): Combat is oppressive, when you are getting battered by the enemy a new wave is already coming. You ask yourself how you can win this time, but you'll figure it out. The Soundtrack: One of those that really elevate a game to the next level. Not much else to say that I think the ost you hear most of the time is great. The Story and Tone: The story is intriguing where I always wanted to continue. But the biggest pro to the story is the consistent tone. The writers were not afraid of the story they are telling, they knew what they were doing and it works really well. The visuals: I don't like chibi art style, but for some reason the visuals grew on me. The animations are very smooth and easily readable. I think some of the enemy full body 2d art and weapons look a bit goofy, but it didn't threw me off.
The bad
Stealth: You read the other reviews, yeah it's annoying. They break the otherwise good pacing of the game. Don't feel bad to read a guide on how to get S in some missions. I had to do it on at least one. Bullet sponge bosses: Christ Oleg are you ok, this is more of an issue pre-act 4 but it gets silly how much damage some soldiers can take. Even worse they can counter attack and possibly 100 to 0 someone. The collectable bug: There is a strange bug with steam save cloud where your save file of the collectables can become messed up. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that it unlocks the last act and fucks with steam achievements. Just to be safe turn off steam save cloud. I don't even know if this fixes it.
The ugly
Weapons: You usually have 1 best option and that's it, there are also attachments which are little more then just stat buffs. I suppose it's a reward for going out of your way to get them in dangerous parts of the map, but it feels like they could've done a bit more with it. Act 3: Act 3 is not bad, but they should have mixed act 2 and 3 together, and gave it the same treatment they did on act 4.
act 4 is wonderfully non-linear
This would fix a pacing issue where people quit in act 3. Main Villain: Spoilers from here on out.
Sugar was always the road blocker to the "good" ending in act 4. They should at least have given 1 of the major route's ending spotlight to Beria or Kirill. I feel the two of them are a bit underused.

I will dedicate this part of my review to the Jevon zone. Assault Tactics + Full Focus + Limit Break
Pretty good game. I bought it at launch, but I work for a living, so I still haven't beaten it over a year later.

This game is amazing! Quite possibly my GOTY a year late. The art is awesome, gameplay is super fun and challenging, even for someone who isn't a strategy game expert, and the story is engaging, albeit the characters being a bit cliche at times. My main gripe is it's too short and only took me about 140ish hours to beat :( lol. I got it on sale for less than $20 and after playing bought the DLC just to support the team who made it. I hope there can be more of this in the future. 10/10

Pretty good SRPG for the price point. There's a bunch of stealth segments and optional objectives that require stealth, so that's something to keep in mind. There's also a ton of visual novel-like story scenes between missions. Those that enjoy the GFL universe will likely find extra enjoyment in this one.

Story is in-depth and engaging, with a great focus on the world-building. This offers a greater prospective into the overall lore of gfl and continues the franchise's themes of struggle against insurmountable odds and yz's favourite 爱与希望. Gameplay is fun and not too difficult on standard difficulty, and the enemies are varied and interesting.

I really loved my time with this game. While the stealth missions can be grating at times and the game itself can be very punishing, I felt the overall experience was satisfying and it is definitely one of my favorite SRPGs. The story, art, and music were also phenomenal and I find myself thinking back on it frequently, 9/10.

Awesome game. Fun gameplay. Story is awesome. Music is awesome. Arts is awesome. You get over 100 hours of contents. What happen when a gacha company make a game that isn't based on greed. Highly recommend.
