Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/ZwcyZ9uVF9A You can watch my video and just see how bad this game is, but I'll do my best to describe why it's bad. Redemption's Guild is an online coop action RPG for PCVR. It released in Early Access back in November and now it's full release just yesterday (a suspicious quick turnaround time). Unfortunately, the game plays like an alpha build in Early Access. I ran into many bugs. In fact, every single quest I tried was bugged. I would get a quest to say kill 5 skeletons. I got credit for killing 4/5 skeletons and I think I killed just about every skeleton on the map (over a dozen). Then I got a quest to protect a meteorite. Nothing happened. Defend a crystal. Defend Meteorite No. 2. Did I mention this game has no story? Dumb, repetitive, bugged quests? Basic, out-dated gameplay? There's several classes and I tried 3 of them: Berserker, Ranger, and Elementalist (Mage). All three types of classes had deep issues that made each class boring to play. Mage class: you have a book and a little wand. You click on the icon for fire, ice, electricity, and (dark void?) with your wand and then you toss the spell at enemies. Rinse and repeat. Over and over again. You're just tossing the spells like you're throwing rocks from the top of your wand. The spells have different animations, but the net effect is the same on all enemies. There's no difference between any of the 4 spells other than the color & animations. Ranger class: you have a bow & arrow. Very basic mechanic, last seen in 2017 VR. Draw from bow unlimited arrows. The physics is bad. Drawing on string failed for me about 30 percent of the time. Berserker class: You have a big sword with your main hand. Little skeleton face on the off-hand. You swing, swing, swing. It's stat based so you just have to have the right rhythm. It's more where you hit and not swinging too fast. You can technically parry, but hitboxes are terrible. You basically swing and move backwards until it dies. Enemies get suck on terrain. Enemies are dumb. Enemies take many hits to go down. So you basically hit and walk backwards for every single type of class you may use. Just random enemy spawns on a map. Random quests from random quest givers. Same few maps. Map does look nice for a low-polygon art style. You can easily change classes, those are the only positives I can give. You do have skill upgrades and it seems nice, but when the combat is so basic & broken, those upgrades in skills don't end up meaning much. Game is running on the Unity Engine. You have full locomotion, teleportation, smooth, & snap turning. Comfort options. You have some graphical settings. Game was running at 90 fps for the most part on my RTX 3080 at max settings, but I did have some stutters which were noticeable. Not sure why. So should I refund this game? I'm out about $17 USD on the Steam full release sale. You decide on my YT channel. I think this game is bad and I should refund it, but I'll let you guys decide the final verdict here. Played with the Vive Pro 2 and the Oculus Quest 2 and it plays great. There is a learning curve to the controls so it is important to read the tutorials in the game. When you arrive, You can see what you look like upstairs in one of the mirrors in one of the room. Make sure to explore and take a good look around. I really enjoy this game. Thank you

So first of all, this is one of those "I wish I could leave a neutral review" reviews. Honestly, I think this game has a lot of potential. And, I do plan to keep playing because it does seem like it could be a lot of fun. That said, here are a few things that stuck out to me which did not leave good impressions. The controls are just weird. Why do you hit the A button to pick up your weapon instead of the grip button? This makes for awkward gameplay and also pretty much guarantees that you cannot draw your weapon while moving. The game has very long loading times. Standing around in VR is not really all that fun, especially when it's in a loading screen (For the record, I have an i9 with a 3070 and 32 GB of ram). Speaking of standing around. Upon selecting a class in the main menu, a fairly muffled begins to speak to you. Not only was the voice hard to understand, but there was no way to skip and I found myself wondering why I cared what the voice was saying. I assume she was giving me the premise of the game, but consider that she can do that during the long load screen. Combat needs some work. Enemies do not respond to your attacks. They don't really parry you nor does your attack disrupt theirs. This makes combat very unengaging. Weapons seem to do the same damage no matter how hard you swing or where you hit the enemy (I tried the rouge on my first go-around). The enemies I ran into all seem to have a lot of health, which would actually be great if combat involved me doing something other than standing still swinging my arms. Maybe something along the lines of Legendary Tales or Blade and Sorcery combat is too much to ask, but this should at least be as good as Karnage Chronicles in the combat area.

Quite frankly, it's an awful game. After a rocky launch where people couldn't even download the game until the issue was fixed, 10 hours later, I spawn into the game using my Valve Index and discover my hands are at least 45 degrees off of where my actual hands are and there's no way to fix the alignment. Moving onto combat, I played an Elementalist because magic, and the basic attacks are problematic, I don't get why almost everyone decides to go the wind up and throw route, it's hard to hit a moving target with it, not to mention playing solo in this game all of the enemies are pretty meaty with quite a bit of HP, so melee enemies just run up in my grill, while ranged enemies just spam hyper accurate attacks at me. The skills use basic point, charge up and fire attacks, why can't the basic attacks use that too? And then there's the fact that you have to be standing still to basic attack because a mote of magic from your book has to make its way to the tip of your wand and if you move, it seems to run off on its own.
