Fun story game. If you like the game Stray, you'll like the Gunk.

It's one of those games you want to play again in between other games after a while. It doesn't overstay its welcome, it's fun, engaging, visually appealing and super chill. One world, two characters, one robot, fun puzzles and super satisfying process of vacuuming all the gunk until none is left. I first played it on Xbox couple of years back, and just got it on PC and it's as fun as I remembered it, it reeled me right back in.

Very fun action/adventure. Absolutely loved the characters and the story. The gameplay was super fun if a bit on the easy side. Overall, definitely recommend getting this game.

I enjoyed it! The cast is fun and the setting is frequently beautiful. Gameplay probably isn't going to surprise anyone, as the the vacuum mechanic is used for everything; cleaning gunk, fighting enemies, grabbing items, and even activating moving platforms. There are other combat tools, but swapping to them isn't made necessary. This does keep combat simple for those who don't want the focus there anyway. Much more time is spent exploring and cleaning things up. The linear story keeps you moving and the banter means you never feel alone. I think if the game was longer, I would have gotten bored, but the playtime suits the complexity of the mechanics. All in all, it's a solid game that feels nicely polished and delivers a fun little adventure.

Short game with a simple story. Two best friends enter an unknown planet hoping to find something to pay off their debts, before discovering a secret that might save an alien civilization. Not too complex of a plot, but the way they slowly provide details about the world, the relationship of the characters and the state of the universe in general is quite well done. World is beautiful enough to look at, and the character design is pretty good. You can probably treat this like a Disney or some other animated studio's space-faring adventure movie in that regard. While the main character turns on her flashlight in dark spaces, I would say she does not do it often enough. So some places are very difficult to see. The controls are serviceable, there is nothing that feels awkward. The gameplay loop reminds me of a farm sim/metroidvania-adjacent adventure game called No Place Like Home where you vacuum piles of junk. Only this game is a linear adventure with not any divergent paths or much in the way of secrets. The platforming is fine, as long as you remember that the main character cannot hang off ledges (even if it looks like she could) unless they are marked with yellow paint. Combat is simple and does not deviate from normal gameplay, since you still use the same tools and there are no dedicated attack buttons. I would call this design brilliant since it avoids the pitfalls of some platformers adding too complex combat. Finally, be aware of some jank. If you jump anywhere not intended to be something you can stand on, even if it is just rocks or plants on the side, you might get stuck or be trapped in an animation until you jostle your way out. Also the last elevator sequence (both times you experience), performance drops significantly. It will not get you killed but it is very noticeable.

This was a decent game that I caught on sale. Its got a decent story, and the graphics are nice. I finished it in under 10 hours, so don't expect a long play out of it. Overall, I'd say its worth playing if you're looking for a short game and can catch it on sale.

Lovely game, that can be completed in an afternoon, with a good story, amazing music and very likeable characters. Recommended.

A short and sweet game about relationships and conservation. While the mechanics can be a little clunky, the animation a little jittery and the story very cheesy, it all works to tell a nice little narrative. It'd be nice to see more of this.

If you want to play a challenging game, this isn't the game for you. If you're happy to just sit back, enjoy the scenery, the music, and the plot, then I would recommend The Gunk. It took me between 4-5 hours to complete. This game could easily be rushed through but it's very clear it's best enjoyed at a slow pace. I enjoyed this game, and I do recommend it, but I think it's not worth the full price. I found myself surprised that the game was so short, and I thought the 'puzzles' would amp up in difficulty, but they all felt very samey. I don't regret playing, however I am glad I bought it when on sale.

A very nice a fine game. Good platforming and puzzles are not too difficult. I would even say they are too easy. But that is okay. This way it makes a very good relaxing and chill game to play. Fighting is rare and not to hard either. What kinda bothered me is that I really made sure to scan everything for the achievement but somehow seem to have missed one thing. Heck I even scanned the end boss and risk a hit. Meh... Anyway I highly recommend this game. Also I played it on Deck and it ran very well. I had one single occasion in a none critical situation where the game slowed down to a crawl but at any other time it ran with at least 30fps if not more.
