Top line: This is a fun, well-balanced deck-builder with unique mechanics ... that suffers from being rough around some edges. The mechanics reward you for having *larger* decks, contrary to the most popular alternatives. This takes a minute to wrap your head around, but ultimately makes battles more engaging, IMO. Characters are highly differentiated and the mechanic of swapping front/back line in battle makes for interesting decisions — in the moment and during drafts. Exploration in the game is wholly unique among roguelike/roguelite games I've played. You unveil more of the map not by exploring directly, but by using items (paintbrushes/inkwells) on the map grid. You gain more of these items through fights, which rewards you for taking on more challenges. However, there are a few tings that keep it from being in the same tier as Slay the Spire or Monster Train 2. First of all, there are bugs that can occasionally brick a run. I've had this happen once, maybe, but you should be aware that it's a possibility. Second, the game is full of animations that you cannot speed up. That means games can take 2-3 hours instead of the usual 45-60 min that I expect from the aforementioned top tier games. Finally, the encounter variety runs thin if you explore fully. Your mileage may vary. I enjoyed the game enough to buy the DLC and felt it was worth every penny. If you've played other deck-builders to death and you need a new look, this game may be for you, too.

Wow this is a great game!! Love Slay the Spire and Monster Train and anything with deck building qualities but this is a step up to everything. Love the map system where I get choices what to uncover. Talent trees are awesome along with the embellishments. Art is beautifully done! Highly recommend

One of the best Roguelike deckbuilders I've played. Exploration is unique, all the characters have synergies with each other, the tournament modifiers are creative and fun, the graphics are cute, and there's all sorts of fun combos to find. Satisfyingly difficult at higher levels, and a front-loaded macrogame to boost your character abilities.

It's a great game! The DLC character is a nice addition to the unique cast. However there are some bugs which may appear rarely (some times in the mines) where the map/movement can be affected. The leaderboard runs with randomized unique rules keep the game fresh after everything has been unlocked. The pro's outweight the con's by far and I had a great time with this gem. Now I'm really inclined to buy Faeria - since I love the art and it's the same universe.

Quite enjoying the game. The unlock and difficulty scaling system is quite nicely made and I'm enjoying trying different builds and combinations.

This is a VERY enjoyable alternative and refreshing alternative take on the genre, a-la Slay the Spire. You won't regret picking this one up.

It's a good game, it's just that it's a bit unbalanced in favor of Allies, which basically are the only way to make it playable. Restoring health otherwise is sparse so you're basically relegated to smashing enemies as quickly as you can to win battles.

Roguelike fans, purchase on sight. Great game with a lot of scaling potential built in. Just novel enough to compete against the bevy of roguelikes deckbuilders, but squarely in the genre enough to scratch that itch. 10/10
