"This will not be the last time you see the Cipher."
That’s the final line of the campaign—but given the game is being delisted in just a few days, I’m pretty sure we won’t be seeing Cipher ever again.
As an RTS fan who doesn’t care much for multiplayer, I place a lot of value on single-player content. Unfortunately, Crossfire: Legion doesn't offer enough to keep solo players engaged for long. This seems to be a recurring issue with modern RTS games that try to replicate the three-faction asymmetry formula (looking at you, Tempest Rising, Grey Goo etc.).
Without a strong campaign, additional challenges, or moddability, an RTS is almost guaranteed to fail both in the short and long term. Crossfire gives us a decent campaign—12 missions, lasting around 4–5 hours on medium difficulty—but beyond that, you’re left alone with limited versus content and very little replayability.
In total, it’s a game worth maybe 10 hours of your time. I could have recommended it to RTS fans at a heavy discount… but with the delisting just around the corner, that window is closing fast. Take that as you will.
PS: I really like the bulky model of units.
