A disgustingly ambitious game that somehow continues to deliver. The developer has managed to cram all of human history up to the bronze age in less than a gigabyte. Yes the game looks like shit, yes the sapiens aren't exactly cutting edge AI, and yes the controls are kind janky as a result of how barebones everything is, but holy hell is there content. Unlike every other colony builder that either gift wraps food or gives you agriculture straight off the bat, sapiens really makes you appreciate just how big a breakthrough agriculture was for humanity.
Every little thing feels like an achievement, and the game really draws you in.
The game needs continuing development to truly thrive, but I can still reccomend it in its current state.

I got this game when it first came out and it had minimal content. I just decided to start playing it again and it has improved so much (and they aren't done yet). I love how research is done in the game and watching my tribe advance. Building has become a lot easier, too. I remember struggling with it before, but now I can get buildings planned easily. I also love how so many of the men look like Bob Ross.
BROKEN GAME
Used to work, but recent updates cause consistent crashes at startup. The game is 100% unplayable (for me and several others). Numerous fixes have been tried (reinstalling, deleting Steam cache, updating drivers, sys scanning, installing latest Vulkan sdk, forcing DX11, DX12, Vulkan, etc.). Literally NOTHING works.
Devs are 100% silent on the issue despite numerous complaints about this in the forum.
This is on a more than capable machine:
RTX 4080
32GB Ram
Intel i9-13900HX, 2200 Mhz, 24 Core
SSD 200GB free space
I bought this game when it first went into early access. If it didn't work then I would have refunded. If I could get a refund NOW, I would. But that time has passed. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this game until this game breaking bug is fixed.
This is the ONLY game (out of thousands I own) that will not work.
