Similar to other negative reviews, I really wanted to like this one because....woo pirates! Love a good pirate theme. But some baffling design choices left me frustrated and as if the dev doesn't understand how to make a good card game. You can't skip cards? There's literally a loading tip that reminds you not to let your deck get too big! I feel this is a core tenet of any good card game. Why should my battle 'reward' be being forced to take a card I don't want. Also not a big fan of the very limited number of relics and most of the relics have very basic perks. There are also, as the game proudly markets, 16 heroes, over 700 cards and 60+ unique bosses. This is just way too much, can you really make that many heroes and bosses fine tuned? I don't think so. Oh another thing that i just remember that I really hate: in some of the random events there are things like "Go through a cave by choosing left/right to find the treasure" and the path is always the same, not randomly generated. What is even the point? After the first time you may as well just change it to "You find 50 gold!" and stop wasting my time.

Definitely worth picking up when it goes on sale. It's a bit of a simplified version of Slay the Spire, but for some reason I find that I like this game significantly more than the other one. The art style is enjoyable and the game offers enough of a challenge to keep you engaged for a long time. I will say that one complaint I have is that the more you play, the more cards you unlock, which can actually have a negative effect on how easy it is to go for specific cards, strategies, etc. Overall, I think it's a fantastic game and played it for countless hours on my phone before picking it up for PC.

This game is testament to the fact that even even a game was designed for mobile and ported to PC, if it's built on great design principals (they slick with this), it'll transcend the platform you play it on. There's StS-like progression (inc relics that are pretty noice and very few that felt redundant) and perhaps the best rewards are the classes/characters. All future rogue deckbuilders would benefit from this kind of reward philosophy - even if you're struggling to beat the first area, you're constantly being rewarded in meaningful ways, and new playstyles. Killer

Pretty decent game if you like STS. There are a lot of characters, and some play very differently than others, while others only vary slightly. Guys like explorer and gunner have the same cards they just have a different special ability which won't alter things that much. Guys like cursed captain and bear tamer are very different, so its a bit of a mixed bag. It is annoying that unlike STS every class doesn't have different class cards and starting decks, only some. So with that you run into using a lot of the same common cards. You do unlock cards over time but it takes like hours to unlock like 10 cards, and having to unlock different cards on different maps. I'm also not sure if those cards only apply to that map you unlocked them on or not, it's never fully explained. The game is tough and fair, but as others have pointed out its pretty dumb you can't just skip cards and you're forced to take them to make your deck larger unlike STS. Theres no logical point to have that, meaning you have to waste money rerolling hoping to get artifacts which you can just skip for no apparent reason. But overall theres some fun broken combos, and quests (although most of them make no sense and have no real explanation). Theres also multiple maps that only vary slightly with enemies and themes, as a well as arena mode. It does also feel like every class unlike STS only can go like 1 basic route since there isn't enough class cards, so theres not much option although thats also why theres so many classes compared to only 4. Is also dumb the last map and multiple characters are locked behind poorly explained quests or just getting certain levels in the arena. But you could do worse and theres fun to be had. 8/10.
