Buggy, with slow skill progression. Play Two or Infinite instead

-It’s not terrible but TL2 and plenty of other arpg’s are much better
-Graphics and artstyle maybe looks cool for the kids but it gets boring very fast for the adults
-Still have so much bug and need more improvement for the gameplay (collecting coin animation delay)
-The story of TL2 still lives rent free in me and other player brain so maybe thats why player from TL2 dissapointed so much at the poor story telling and different artstyle that being used in the game

this game is frustrating the map is hard to read the game play is like going through a endless maze of hell. the game has bugs where the map gets stuck on the left of the screen. torchlight 1 and 2 are fun games this one is not. i just wish they stuck to what they were doing before. i would have loved it if it played similar to torchlight 2. it doesn't feel like a torchlight game.

Honestly this game gets way too much undeserved flak.
A lot of reviewers here didn't even play the game properly and they seem genuinely angry people.
The game is not bad. It is not a masterpiece or a great game but is not as bad as you may read through the comments.
It has very few bugs, I've encountered only one ( if you character starts moving in one direction just press the buttons in the same direction and it's fixed )
It is not elitist game. I see no point in grinding endlessly to get top gear, and no point in pushing to the limits every aspect of the game and here i think is where a lot of people get angry for no reason.
I'd recommend to buy this if you're looking for a casual ARPG with no huge min-maxing. The end game is repetitive so depending on your tolerance to that kind of grind you can easily sink in 30-50 hrs of gameplay.
Get it at a discount, it is worth a playtrough.
Do note that the game looks abandoned and i have a feeling the community had a say in it unfortunately... pity, it had some potential :).

I think Torchlight III is a good game, with bad down side, which can be tuned to make ok. It is all well, at character levels 1-8. Since level 1, you earn skill point each level to spend on skill, but at level eight you have chosen 3-8 skills that "cluttering your mechanics". At level nine normal difficulty, the geometry and clicks seem to end you up as depleted health potions and moneys, left yapping "why are weapons not dropping any more". The problem seems to be that we need the skills in this game to make it richer, but they too weak and waste of time, leaving us unable to play levels 10-60.
How to make it right what developers didn't. We all know or guess (at least the non-developers) that survival is 90% DPS. Skills with 1-3 skill points consume time in animation that appear to make health loss player-oriented instead of enemy-oriented, so categorized in wrong end of DPS frame. Skills should make you stronger instead of weaker, also skills that make you stronger "over time" do not count. Quite soon dawn this standstill, which can only be overcome by "pumping 20 extra skill points" to make favorite skills with 4-8 skill points, hoisting DPS with desirable skills to bareable DPS. Why they opt out the skills, is not for me to guess, always someone make the decision, remember that.

The first two Torchlight games were fantastic. What happened?
The artwork is ugly. You can't see anything for all the busy background stuff getting between it and the camera. The save file system is unfathomable and extremely jenky. Thus far I have not been allowed to select the "quit game" buttons from the pause menu. Alt-Tab and close game on the Steam app has been my only exit. I';m guessing that explains SOME of the random character I am allowed to play then I load. The plot is... absent. Sound is standard. Turned the music off immediately. But that's normal for me.
Overall, this game is garbage. I'm glad I got it as part of a bundle because I'm very likely deleting it. I WISH I could get a refund. I feel like the devs owe me for the lost time.
And, in case it was not blatantly obvious, Selva does NOT recommend purchasing this game. Not even on sale.

Lots of gameplay, and constant progress. Future versions really need to offer a rotating camera, though.

As someone who played TL3 first, this is actually a decent experience, albeit with the ARPG/buildcrafting elements feeling more simplified than the average ARPG. Overall, it's a mediocre and unoffensive game - probably best to get it during a sale.

I played through this game's alpha and beta (which were mediocre at best) and recently tried it again. its not even a recognizable torchlight game. stick with torchlight 2, this game isnt worth your disc space.
